1. There is a respwanable Rancor later (not part of a sidequest) which you can practice on. This mission you can do only once per playthrough. 2. You cannot jump over the grab charge (it's homing and will grab you out of the air), you have to sidestep it. 3. The bone trick can only be used once per battle (so best to leave it for later)
I beat Fallen Order 9 times on Jedi Grandmaster so I figured I would do my first playthrough of Jedi Survivor on grandmaster and it was much more difficult than I expected it to be but I actually completed it. There were many times that I almost lowered it but I was too determined to pull it off. The Rancor fight was one of the times I almost changed it but the bones on the floor really helped a lot. The shatter perk is so worth it too.
Just precision evade the red grab attack, once you get used to it, it's almost a relief when he uses that attack because you can get heaps of damage in after you dodge.
I'm playing on grandmaster, and he main strategy that helped me beat him was dodging into most of his attacks, not away from them, for example, the two big swipes are perfect for this, dodge in twice avoiding both attacks, and you'll be right under him ready to do damage. You can also do this with the red unblockable attack that has crazy reach, if you dodge in instead of back, it doesn't matter how far he can reach.
If you have the Blaster stance leveled up to the max it really makes this fight trivial, point blank stops most of his attacks and does huge damage, plus that extra reach combined with the good speed and having the blaster shot really does make this fight easy as cake
For anyone trying to beat the rancor, these are some tips I have: Stay mobile Keep your distance Avoid walls Use the crossguard stance Watch the rancor's movements intently Utilies your ranged abilities Be patient Only strike when certain you won't be punished Dodge backwards and to the side against it's grab (do not jump, the hitbox continues into the air) Avoid blocking as much as possible, jump and dodge instead Use the "flux" perk for force regen If you're struggling early game, don't be ashamed to leave and come back once you're more equipped (access to the dash, more stims etc.)
So you may feel like double dodging as soon as the red unblockable lunge lights up but you have to wait for some of its attacks to to wind up and reach you before you double tap dodge. You were dodging too early that’s why it seemed like it’s impossible not to get grabbed. I wait until that attack and get a few swings in. Every other time just keep backing up don’t go underneath it. GM first time up… was close to lowering difficulty until I pulled through. Good luck
I found that the best lightsaber for this fight was definitely the double blade since you're still fast while also being defensive and being able to deal out damage pretty well
Being defensive is definitely the way and I suppose I'll try Double next time as I beat the first with single. Like with Spawn, I found Blaster to be the most helpful (assuming you have it), but for different reasons. Considering most attacks are at least a 2 hit kill, it's easier to dance around outside their range and bait the rancor to attack, specifically with the red grab. Having moves that can close is also a huge help if you fight like that.
@@CrazyCaleo they spawn even before then. on any difficulty. one spawns in the river near the settelment. dont knom when he starts to appear. But most enemies start to spawn tthe more you progress the story.

But I fought Oggdo on like 80% of max level (hypothetical), and it was way harder than rancor. That is until I watched a video of someone fighting the Oggdo. He just evaded and attacked immediately after. No parrying. That changed my life. After that I evaded every enemy. So easy! Parrying is for aggressive small enemies like Bx droid or bedlam raiders.
I'm only on normal difficulty but when I first started I ran into the rancor hidden in the cave and it killed me a few times so the last time I went to just get my points back and went to run but as I climbed the later it just stood there so I just started throwing my lightsaber at it and killed it eventually 😂 I've done this to 2 rancor now so in the words of the great Obi-Wan "high ground"
I did this by random in the beginning, it took me a long time. If you make sure to parry parryable attacks and restore your force with the golden thingy, I think that you can make it work pretty easy. Keep on grinding and dont give up.

You should try to fight Inquisitor Cal on Fallen Order 💀
I've found that you have to do a simple dodge to the side when he jumps at you. No running away or trying to go backwards. Key is to dodge at the right moment, after he jumps.
I beat the one here on grandmaster and it took me about 20 minutes. I then found another rancor in a different cave and beat it first try. I have almost beat the entire game on grandmaster which I am proud of. MAJOR SPOILERS AHEAD The boss I found the most difficult was easily rayvis. It took me 3 play sessions to finally beat him. In comparison to reyvis, Dagan was very easy and I killed him in about 4-6 attenpts. Darth Vader I beat in 10-12 and I could have beat him a lot quicker if i had my usual blaster and dual wield stance combo. I have no idea what to expect from Bode as a boss. I feel like he is either going to be really easy or the most difficult one yet. He was decently easy when I fought him on Koboh and he barely got any hits on me but eventually it went to a scripted cutscene so I think I was meant to die there. you should use the s of the dodge to dodge into the grab. common souls knowledge. and all his attacks are easy to parry so do that and you should never get hit
Here's how ya beat the Rancor on GM. After I died like 30 times on GM, I eventually realized if you use darth maul mode, and just run underneath it, as long as he doesnt open with the stomp attack, you can kinda just freelo smack him and he cant hit you. And if he does do the stomp thing, you can use the LB + X move and literally just clip through him and not take any damage if you right under him. Dodge and repeat gg ez rancor. Doods long ass arms cant reach his feet mid attack. I didnt even know you could do the bone thing thats such a sick call back lol.
4:40-4:47 I'm so happy that they added a ROTJ reference in this boss fight. To those who recommended Andrew to do this challenge, are you proud of yourselves? Was it your goal to make Andrew suffer emotionally and physically?
I started the fight with the Rancor upon landing on Koboh, but did other things to level up mt skills. I was able to beat the Rancor after getting health and Force upgrades and just basic Blaster Stance in tandem with single blade. Blaster to take pot shots and single for my main attacks.
Took me 15-20 times on Grand Master but I killed it. You need to double dodge to the left of the 1 hit kill attack not jump or go right. Only jump for the ground shockwave attacks. With patience you should kill it in about 3 minutes.
jump + dodge does NOT work against Rancor unblockable grab, you’ve gotta double dodge. similar to other boss grabs that i won’t mention because spoilers. also, crossguard is the way to go, just gotta get parry timing down.
As far as I understood when I was playing, you’re not supposed to jump out of the way of his charge grab attack. Just do a basic dodge to the side and you’re good to go. Far more i-frames that way (if there even are any when jumping, idk). Oh, and you need to do it not when he’s only starts charging, but when he’s already halfway there, or else your i-frames end before his attack and the next second you’re being eaten
Jumping is good for his ground pounding attacks that create a shockwave. His normal attacks are better to dodge to the side or away from them (if you dont want to block or parry), and his unblockable grab is better to dodge towards him/under his arm. To the side, as you said
when he started throwing his controller in the air he was fighting a huge battle to not peg it at the wall It took me at least half an hour to beat the rancor on jedi knight difficulty. I cannot even imagine attempting this
