    3 Tips:
Parrying is not an optional mechanic.
Press your dodge button without moving to do a standing dodge. Same but much faster recovery and you stay in place.
Use force push to parry unblockable attacks.

The best thing about double lightsaber is if you upgrade it you can deflect almost all shots without loosing stamina. On grandmaster I was constantly switching between dual and double, for close and range combats, and perk that deals more damage after switch probably should've helped me, but I went all into force slow - filling it using stims, healing while using slow and healing by killing enemies during slow.

The higher difficulty I play, the more I lean towards double bladed. With so many blaster bolts coming at you and your party window being so small it’s nice to only have to deflect one to deflect all of them. I played the first few hours on Jedi Knight, but ultimately switched to Padawan as I began to explore more. If I wanted challenging combat alone, there are dozens of Souls-like games out there that I could go play, but the joy in playing Jedi Survivor (at last to me) comes from being immersed in the world and characters around you. Padawan difficulty seems to provide that while still making the combat fun and presenting a decent challenge when it matters (ie boss fights).

    • @Enoo_

@@MrVisualHigh I agree with the original commenter more, higher difficulty means you have to engage with the game combat at a much more deeper level. The combat in itself becomes a puzzle at higher difficulties, target prioritization and combat tactics are needed to actually be able to wiz through encounters.
I also enjoy some difficult platforming and puzzling but making actual difficult platforming isn’t very easy and puzzles are usually very hit or miss. Only certain games can make difficult puzzles without making them annoying, for example BOTW and Portal.
These are blanket statement for most games that are action based with puzzles and platforming but strongly apply to JFO and Survivor.

I spent a TON of time squaring up against single enemies and intentionally not trying to attack to learn their move sets and how to react until I could successfully engage them while taking zero damage between a combination of parries, precision dodges and general footwork. These things absolutely matter, but so does knowing which saber stances to use and when to use them most effectively. I personally rolled with a Cross-guard main and a double-bladed for swarms.

Playing through on Grandmaster is definitely all about patience and knowing what you can get away with which enemies I'm playing on Jedi Grandmaster. The first few areas were a pain but then I started using my saber and force abilities better and my parry timing is pretty spot on. Personally, I've always enjoyed playing on higher difficulties. But, we all have our own personal preferences, so just have fun gaming your own way. I found the drop-down from grandmaster to master surprising, GM was hardcore af, the moment you get surrounded by more than four or five enemies you need to be absolutely perfect with your dodge and parry. Master was a breeze after trying and failing at that lol Fr, it feels like you take half as much damage and you don’t even have to try to parry attacks Played through on Jedi Knight mode just because it felt right since Cal's a knight. It was certainly a grind, but had some pretty satisfying kills. (that's only when the damned game wouldn't crash though) The difficulty is also shown on the HUD. In the bottom left where the d-pad buttons are shown, there is a dot in 1(2 if Grandmaster) of the 4 corners. The lowest starts top left and goes CW from there with the grandmaster having 2 dots on top right and bottom left Whenever I’m playing on grandmaster, I find it much easier to use a defensive stance such as the crossgaurd of double saber. It really helps prevent your block meter from running out too fast Playing on the higher difficulties I found the double-blade stance to be very useful against ranged attacks I feel like for Grandmaster, dual wield and cross guard are gonna be the move. Dual wield for just running around killing enemies, cross guard for those situations where your block is being drained quickly
I started with Grandmaster and personally, I used some of the force powers but it was mostly about picking off your opponents from ranged to melee or from weakest to strongest with lightsaber attacks. I was using duel wield and blaster stances.

you can have 2 stances at the ready specifically to switch them according to scenarios(usually 1 for AoE, 1 for strong single target), Ive been playing on GrandMaster diff from the start here is what I learned:
-invest into blaster deflect skill on your sabers! crossguard makes the shot explode on target for good dmg and knock back, single can split 1 blaster shot into 2 and reflect it at 2 enemies I think, but I always use double sided blade for large groups and many shooters, its skill means that deflecting a minigun trooper will aim some shots at enemies around him and not only him, it has great AoE attacks that hit all around you and no matter how many blaster shots come at you if you parry the first one and hold the button you will parry all of them for a certain period of time, it doesnt only work on minigun troopers(like the game shows you at the start) but also on large groups(always try to get rid of ranged units first)
-dodging with no directional input is great! there is also a force dodge ability early in the skill tree, you spend force meter overtime while holding it and chunks of force meter every hit you dodge but it dodges even red attacks like grabs
-enemy colours are a hint, pay attention, for example in this clip with bounty hunters, one of them rolls away when you parry the blaster at them and they turn blue, blue means vulnerable to force, if you pull that enemy you will staggers them and give yourself a DPS window, another tip is there is a big animal on koboh that turns blue before attacking with a sideroll, push him to tip him over for another window of attack
-learn to parry standard attacks, yes it takes practice and remembering attacks for every enemy but parrying an attack CHUNKS the shit out of enemy block meter and doesnt spend yours at all, like with normal block, parrying trivializes many encounters and I would call it even mandatory for some enemies(like phase 2 Rayvis)
-also the frog, Ogdo Bogdo is back for revenge with a secret encounter where you fight not 1 but 2 frogs, took me 2h15min to defeat them on Jedi GM...

I've been playing through on Grand Master. Its all about tactics. Being able to out parry or out dodge your opponents is of course useful, but almost every encounter will have all enemies swarming you at once. Knocking them off ledges or confusing them is the best way to take off the pressure. Also i use push to interupt unblockables, or pull an enemy and hold them to shield myself from blaster fire and preserve my block meter.

I also have to say I noticed a bjg difference in enemy aggression on GM over Master, but only because of a specific trial you can find on the moon area where you have to defeat 150 battle droids. On GM, you are constantly swarmed and attacked by multiple at the same time, although its very manageable with the AOE of the double sided sabre. Turning it down to Master, I noticed I'd only get attacked by a couple of droids at a time, and the rest keot their distance until they could fill the gaps.

What I really like about those difficulties is that you really do have to use your entire arsenal... and it just feels so satisfyingly cinematic.
Have BD hack one of the droids from afar, use confusion, slash some guys fling one of those flying sentry droids into the enemies, pulling in a gatling gun trooper flip him around have him
shoot at guys, take a shield and throw it at some other guys, blaster shots etc.
One thing that I felt is necessary is the change of
lightsaber stance depending on the enemies. The bounty hunters become a lot more easy with a double bladed saber with the "reflect all shots" ability for example.

on grandmaster, I've found force confussion super usefull, especially in early stages of the game, before unlocking all of the new powerful force abilities and saber skills. for example fire troopers are perfect for confusion, because one of them can wipe out half a squad easily. or that one encounter in the mountains on Koboh with 2 bilemaws. you can mind trick one of them, while they are fighting, they'll probably trigger shiverpedes into fighting with them. a few points into force push can win almost every encounter with mogus or other heavier units. a lot of them are placed near drops, and instead of fighting you can push enemies out of the arena. later in the game, push-resistant enemies, even mini-boses, could be lifted and pushed out of the arena easily.

Not enough people talk about this: Jedi Grandmaster gives enemies more or newer attacks and mix ups. For example, the B2 droids get an unblockable shot at the end of their blaster combo that they can throw in sometimes. It only happens on Grandmaster.
Also spawn of oggdo is a good one to look at to see the difference between aggression in the two difficulties. In grandmaster it leaves an even smaller window to attack than master, and that was enough for me to have to bump it down to master. At grandmaster I felt like I couldn't ever get a are for it reliably, on master it was technically doable.

I started the game on grandmaster because I wanted more of a souls like experience while playing instead of just breezing through which I'll probably do on my second run, the only thing that made me really want to rage quit and actually hurt was doing a fractured rift on the second planet (not including coruscant). The main thing I noticed is you really have to find the enemies' weaknesses and get used to playing the game by parrying, parrying doesn't use up your block bar which allows for you to keep going in fights against a lot of opponents. That and closing the distance quick as starting at this difficulty you don't have the perks to spend on force, you really want to improve your lightsabers and add some points to survivor. Must say though it really is enjoyable especially playing with the dual sword and double saber.

Basically you just need to get then near a ledge then use force lift and push to knock them away. The one that flies just use force slam while it's not above solid ground and it's a gone'r. I played on Jedi Master mostly with exception of the first Mogu fight in the main story which I just could not manage and had to tune it down. I mostly use the double bladed saber because its very helpful with the issue of multiple enemies getting at you. For one-to-one fights I think the dual blades would probably be better but currently I tried using the blaster stance as it can be developed so much - but I am not so happy with it except for long distance damage. The additional abilities of the other stances like lightsaber throw or vortex are very useful while the blaster runs out of ammo rather soon and the point blank shot which is really great needs very precise timing. So I consider to reskill to dual wield and double bladed, although its a bit of a shame as a major game feature is the bounty hunter hunting and this only improves the blaster skills and design.

The best way to approach the game is with a combination of force, and combining two lightsaber techniques that cover eachothers weakness, the most popular being dual wield and double blade, as dual wield covers fast and consistent single damage and double blade creates a strong defensive crowd control style. When you use those techniques and use all of your force abilities in opportune times it makes jedi master feel easier than jedi knight in my opinion.

The thing about playing on Grand Master difficulty is that you are expected to be able to master the parry timing because when you block attacks your block meter goes down but when you parry an attack it doesn't. On Grand Master the block meter is for defending against additional attacks that are coming in at almost the same time as the parried attack, but you need to land that parry. Failure to land the parry is punishing.
