      Why is a LIGHTsaber claymore "heavy".
      It should be a constant build that separates into two/single and dual. Make it a "mechanic button" that drops the cross guard and eliminate the pommel idea.

    Regarding force slow becoming evil after certain point, I think this is the point. Cal is not exactly in control of his dark side, so it changing things against his will like lightsabre stance or how other force abilities work. And it makes fight against dark side more real to the player, because in the middle of battle with many opponents you may forget your favorite move is now dark, like jedi would lose himself to anger in that moment. Also not using it makes life difficult, certain fights requre much more effort, so you feel it's hard for Cal to resist dark side. Even players annoyance about change in force slow is consistent with corruption of dark side, because person becomes easily irritable and unstable. It's brilliant gameplay design, if you think about it.

      It's because of the way UE5 game engine works. It's now preferable to have game objects with insane polygon counts and massive textures, because the engine itself downscales it for the quality settings you selected. Also, there's a fairly linear relationship where the more you compress textures and other data losslessly, the more processing power is required to load them leading to higher loading times. There's a point of equilibrium, which currently favours large size and little compression.

    In Jedi: Fallen Order there was a move you could do where if you hold down triangle to do the dashing strike you could then hold X for a second and Cal would do a flip and attack behind the enemies guard. Not only did this move look super cool and made you feel like a badass but it also had some utility in combat by getting behind their guard,this move worked on all if not most enemy types too, big monster like the Jotaz, and even all the boss fights, I was sad to see that this move or something similar to it is seemingly not in the sequel.

    Only incredibly frustrating thing about this game for me is that there's no roll, and dodge has frames at the end of the animation where you can take damage and can't control your character. This setup forces me to use jump dashes for proper dodging that is guaranteed survivable, but they aren't available until you learn that skill later into the game.
    There's so many bosses and legendary fauna bosses that have insta kill attacks, that caused me to rage so much due to no roll and i-frames. It's the only reason I lowered the difficulty at all from jedi grand master to the one below it for my first playthrough.

    • @jackshapiro4668
      @jackshapiro4668 Год назад

      You have frames at the end of a double dash that prevents you from doing anything to prevent spam and reward good timing. Also, there are I-frames in the dodge, and if I’m wrong about that, then there’s a skill in the Survival skill tree that auto dodges for you for some force if you’re not every good at dodging.

    • @TealJosh
      @TealJosh Год назад +3

      @@jackshapiro4668 yeah, I don't like that. The dodge roll in fallen order was perfect. The double dodge adds artificial difficulty and I disagree with mechanics like that. Even then, for the sake of argument, if I did accept it, they give me jump dash that's guaranteed dodge in 99% of the cases and I can spam it endlessly. I'll probably be able to do all late game bosses hitless with dual wield and jump dash easily if I care to properly learn them.
      For the record, I was doing deathless fallen order runs, all bosses hitless(not in single run) in jedi grandmaster on fallen order.

I can deal with the crappy dodge, but the loss of animation cancelling by hitting block is something I can’t forgive. It ruined fighting multiple people because you can’t twitch parry or think of parrying while doing a sick combo.

    I really don't care about cosmetics that much, to be honest, so half the list is not applicable to me. In fact, I actually prefer when the developers have a clear vision for how the character should look and act, to me that's a sign of a well written character instead of just a vessel for a player to project themselves on.
    My main issues:
    - How empty and barren Tanalorr is, there is literally nothing there to do except for Bode fight and a couple of force echoes.
    - Ramblers Reach in Koboh is super cool (even if it's a rather small town), but I wish we had more populated places with random NPCs going about their day. Coruscant and Jeddah feel completely empty outside imperials. It's cool to hate on Assassins Creed nowadays, but Ubisoft was spectacular at brining cities to life. I'm fine with Nova Garron and Shattered Moon being small-ish locations, but I wish other planets were as fleshed out as Koboh.
    - At times there were wayyyy too long parts between meditation points. Shattered Moon was the worst offender.
    - I still don't understand why Fast Travel holomap is different to that of BD-1. Often times I had to switch between the two maps back and forth when deciding where I want to go next.
    - I hate those little scavenger droids. I'd be fine if they respawned after a little while without resting at a meditation point and if they were marked in a map differently. But as is they felt needlessly annoying.
    - Balance with some of the optional bosses (Spawn of Oggdo, Rancor, Mire Terror) and their force tears was wayyy off.
    - The platforming force tears should have some kind of difficulty levels as well.
    - Performance could have been better. It was definitely playable for me, and bug-wise it wasn't actually that bad, but I have a very recent very high-end gaming PC.
    - There were a couple of places without collision, where it seemed reasonable that I might try to jump on in search for some hidden treasure.
    For the most part those are some minor nitpicks/annoyances, or things that highly increase the scope. The list of the things that I love is much, much longer, and I thought the game was spectacular. After completing Jedi Survivor I went back to Fallen Order to get some of the achievements that I was missing. I loved Fallen Order, but Jedi Survivor is superior game from just about every single aspect.

    Playing on Jedi Grandmaster and you def right about having to learn certain enemies' move types before even coming close to beating them. Still on my first play-through. Playing on Jedi Master. Having a lot of fun. No real brick walls that stopped me for a while but plenty of challenges. I found Jedi Knight to be a good difficulty for me, it wasn't so easy it became boring or monotonous and it wasn't such a challenge that I got frustrated, although a few of the bosses were particularly difficult. I considered going with Jedi Master at first since I managed to beat the fallen order on Grandmaster with relative ease, but I'm definitely glad I decided against it, at least for my first playthrough. I'll probably go on Master when I try New Journey+ though. I started last night on Jedi Master. It feels pretty good. It's challenging but not super intense. Mostly, it's the groups of 3 or more enemies where you have to play smart. Fun game! Managed to beat the game on Grandmaster and am going through on new game plus on the same difficulty right now! Those DT droids are still my least favorite enemies to come up against, but it seems like they can be staggered if you're aggressive enough and that can open them up to an instant kill animation at about 50% hp. Jedi Master is the perfect balance between difficulty and immersion to me, The Grandmaster one is doable but just less fun, you feel way too fragile. Maybe if Cal's damage output was higher okay, but it feels like hitting enemies with a wooden stick. I just finished a run on Fallen Order on Jedi Master so I felt good about my first survivor play through being on Jedi Knight. It’s about what I expected. Not so challenging that I’m frustrated but not so easy I feel invincible. I found the drop-down from grandmaster to master was surprising, GM was hardcore af, the moment you get surrounded by more than four or five enemies you need to be absolutely perfect with your dodge and parry. Master was a breeze after trying and failing at that lol Played through on Jedi Knight mode just because it felt right since Cal's a knight. It was certainly a grind, but had some pretty satisfying kills. (that's only when the damned game wouldn't crash though) The difficulty is also shown on the HUD. In the bottom left where the d-pad buttons are shown, there is a dot in 1(2 if Grandmaster) of the 4 corners. The lowest starts top left and goes CW from there with Grandmaster having 2 dots top right and bottom left Whenever I’m playing on Grandmaster, I find it much easier to use a defensive stance such as the cross guard of double saber. It really helps prevent your block meter from running out too fast Playing on the higher difficulties I found the double blade stance to be so useful against ranged attacks I feel like for Grandmaster, dual wield and cross guard are gonna be the move. Dual wield for just running around killing enemies, cross guard for those situations where your block is being drained quickly I started with Grandmaster, and personally, I used some of the force powers but it was mostly about picking off your opponents from ranged to melee or from weakest to strongest with lightsaber attacks. I was using duel wield and blaster stances. So glad to hear I’m not alone in wanting to play on the Padawan difficulty. I was playing Jedi Knight, but it wasn’t fun. It was annoying, and I couldn’t seem to get the party right. Padawan lets me not get so involved in the fight and I can step back and learn. 100%, the double blade and cross guard stance were my go-to stances in Grand Master. Cross Guard takes a lot of learning, but once you have it down, it shreds.

    The Force Slow thing is strange for multiple reasons.
    Throughout the game, I found it odd that I couldn't use the standard Slow abilities from Fallen Order. What I mean is, not just the AOE ultimate ability, but the regular ability that Cal would use *all* the time in Fallen Order. It wasn't just some ultimate ability that Cal would only unleash on large groups of enemies. He could target specific enemies, and even inanimate objects. He would use it as a utility, a way to solve puzzles, not just in combat. It was his signature move, along with sensing echoes in the force.
    I kept waiting, wondering when I would discover the regular Slow ability, or if I just hadn't found the right button yet.
    Then, when I unlocked the dark side ability, I thought "Oh cool, so we have more than one ultimate ability. It's not just dedicated to Slow, it's a slot. I wonder how many abilities we can switch between. I might change it back to Slow after this mission though". Then I found out that, not only are there no other abilities to put into that slot, but we also can't even change it back to the original ability. It really seemed like an ability slot, not a permanant replacement.
    Story-wise, I thought Cal was supposed to overcome the dark side at the end. They made it seem like he won his fight with the dark side, but the fact that he can still tap into it whenever he wants afterwards, either tells me he hasn't really turned away from the dark side yet, or using it after that point is non-canon, but still feels weird, and should be optional.

  • @Creshex8
    @Creshex8 3 месяца назад

    1. My biggest gripe with the game is how changing stance is split between 2 buttons, and not a single input. I'm surprised this wasn't mentioned. With only 2 carried stances at a time, there is absolutely no need for each stance to have their own input. Just one button that swaps to the next stance is all that is necessary. What a waste of a button.
    2. My next gripe is no stance changing attacks. It would be nice if we had something like Bloodborne, where an attack or move transitions into your next stance. There is at least one perk that rewards you for transitioning to a different stance. This feature would have made perfect sense.
    3. I also think there are too many stances, but not enough moves for each stance. After playing the two newest God of War games, you will be shocked at how limited your offensive and defensive options are in this game. They should have combined crossguard and blaster stance with the single bladed stance, and expanded the moves of the staff and dual wield styles.
    4. Finally, I play on grandmaster mode, and the combat at this difficulty becomes more of a puzzle solving exercise than actual combat. The enemies, and bosses especially, so often seem impossible to stagger except in very specific ways. You can also forget about using a full combo, as anything requiring commitment is a good way to get yourself killed (this is why the single blade lightsaber stance is one of the best for this difficulty, as it doesn't rely on multi-step combos). I'd like an challenging combat experience that doesn't rely on making the opponents cheap.

    Point 6 would absolutely be good, especially as Journey+ has that “trendsetter” perk (randomises cosmetics on respawn), which while fun, is kind of annoying because it changes EVERYTHING, including your weapons and BD-1. Having a couple of save slots for appearances and weapons would lessen the blow of the game giving you a less aesthetically appealing look that you immediately want to change back, which will of course take time. Obviously you can choose not to equip the perk, but it would be more fun to have it on and be able to just pull up a preset if you’re not happy with the random cosmetics the game chucked at you.

    I mean, sure, I want more planets as well but the thing is planets are always integrated into the story. Ideally, 2 or 3 more planets would've been great but the only way I can think of to add them without linking them to the story is to include them after the story is completed. Fallen Order had "more" planets but players want more to explore, so Bracca and Nur don't count. So both games have 5 (not counting Tanalorr since it's empty).
    In terms of customization, my only complaint is the lightsaber parts. Most of them are hideous but that aside, people like recreating the sabers from known characters but the game is very limited in that part. Also, what you said about saving your customization should definitely apply to lightsabers.
    This one is a nitpick but what you have on your belt should vary depending on what you have selected. If I run Single and Dual Wield stances, both lightsabers separated should be on Cal's belt. If you have cases where the stances "connect" such as dual wield and double-bladed, you should have based on what stance you already have selected between the two. What's the point of having the blaster if you don't have the stance equipped.

    I haven’t had a problem with Jedi survivor until recently, where there is a bug if you kill one of the bounty hunters before others it will not give you more quests to kill more bounty hunters. I’m stuck at 98% completion, it’s rough out here.

    My huge problem was that when I remapped my buttons to a more dark souls setup it would lock me out of certain actions and would have to go back to default just for certain moments

    I wish that you could have more variation in the style of fighting. Yes we get multiple stances but I used blaster stance purely because it made you use the blade in a fencing style stance and made me feel like count dooku with some moves.
    Two colour blades would be sweet because we him use two blades and even in Jedi fallen order we see the crystal split in two so we know he uses two crystals so the fact we can’t have different coloured blades doesn’t make sense to me. I also wished we could change the colour of the blaster bolts

    I don’t like the fact that I can’t make the lightsaber look like another character’s, like Vader’s, Luke’s, need I go on? Yes the inquisitor outfit and ISB uniform should’ve been allowed to be in. I also wanted to actually fly the Mantis and fight some Tie’s, but I couldn’t. Lastly, I get that Cal’s crystals are two crystals that are the same, but I really wanted to mix and match the lightsaber colors.

    I've just finished it and I loved it. One thing I would like to have would be the ability to change between all 5 stances without having to go to a meditation point or worktable, that'd be cool

    I really hate collecting all the seeds for the garden. Majority of them are duplicates and yet you have to find every single one…….

    SPOILERS
    One thing I don't love is that foreshadowing can apply to future installments as well. And hooooooooo boy, that flight to tanalorr sure had a lot of "Everybody in this scene is destined to die" dialogue. Not to mention, Cere was pretty much the only buffer between Cal and Vader. I love Cal. I love Merrin. I love Greez. Vader is going to fucking eviscerate every single member of this ensemble, and honestly its shitty writing if they somehow beat him. Its gonna be a killer trilogy and I'm excited for the third game, but we gotta remember that this is the purge era. Things don't end well in the purge era.

      Frankly, I thought Tanalorr would be the answer to that problem. It was mentioned multiple times that a hidden planet no one else knows how to get to would allow them to avoid capture by the Empire. I thought it likely this was how the characters would be written out of the story: They would hide out, with Cal perhaps becoming the master of a temple there, training those they brought with them. This would also allow them to perhaps be discovered by Luke between Original and Sequel trilogies (since he was searching out lost temples and Jedi lore). However, its use now as a homebase to come and go from kind of contradicts their purpose in getting there in the first place. Love the game, though. Thoroughly.

    I hate that cutscenes take you out of performance mode. Switching from 60 fps to 30 fps that fast is really immersion breaking. And yeah you can turn performance mode back on during a cutscene but that still breaks the immersion

    I wish there were more city segments but more open. Coruscant was so amazing.
