I have a full kitchen, living room, and a sunny plant-filled porch and not a bit of dirt. I prefer to live as a human being, not rutting in my filth, neglecting my home and my animals so that we need to be bailed out with an extreme cleaning haz-mat team. This family is disgusting. I wonder how long she will have her university job once she makes the airwaves. If a 73 year old woman who can't walk and doesn't have cleaning help can maintain a lovely home, so can that obese and lazy woman and two healthy teenagers. This is lazy. I suspect this is a council flat, what Americans call subsidized or income adjusted housing, i.e., they are not ever going to have to pay their fair share for housing. If there are any (normal) sibling or family disagreements, everyone has their own calm space to retreat to. Now, the girls can put a mattress or sleeping mat/bag on the floor to have a friend sleep over for a night. If they’re in the same room, that becomes impossible. I have been up early, moping floors, folding laundry and cleaning the kitchen. Just a normal day. I just finished lunch and thought I would relax a little and watch some RUclips. And this video pops up as a suggestion. I am exactly 1 minute in and have decided to put the iPad down and go clean some baseboards instead. Thank you for the motivation!
Right? and the girls can share the master since it would be bigger and mom in the smaller room. I’m a single mom and have been sharing with my youngest daughter for years. She just got her own room recently when my oldest moved out
I can't imagine it either but it's not the girls'fault. It's the mother who didn't set the ground rules and has overindulged them, perhaps to compensate for not having their father in their lives.
Does this show not understand that hoarding is a mental health condition? It was once thought that hoarding was a type of OCD, but since 2015 it has been classified as a disorder of its own, a unique mental health problem. Unfortunate title for this video; it predisposes viewers to judge in terms of "laziness" vs. illness. Prolonged depression can also cause a person to feel exhausted and take away any motivation to act. Shame or guilt or dread of exposure gets in the way of asking for help.
Did any of you see the US Show "Hoarders" on A & E (Arts & Entertainment). Some of these folks are mentally depressed, while others are traumatized. One lady lost her stuff in a Fire, while another Lady admitted she bought alot of clothes to make up for what she didn't have growing up. Also look at Kim & Aggie, they worked with a Bachelor who was a Mama's Boy and may have had a slight case of Asbergers's. On Saturday I clean my house with My Mother like nobody's business. My Sister has OCD (she lives in another state) but she doesn't tolerate any mess whatsoever.
I think hoarding still is some kind of OCD? People who suffer from it tend to be very specific about certain items and have great memories about what they have and “obsess” over them being thrown away, keeping anything they deem in anyway useful.
Debbie has two daughters, ages 16 and 10. These two daughters can't clean???!!! Sad, if I see my Mom is struggling to clean and is depressed I would step in and help my Mom with cleaning. Why doesn't Debbie put a full size futon in the living room for herself to sleep on? Then get a wardrobe to put her clothes in. In Debbie's home, who walks the dog?
Let's not forget it's been this way for over 10 years. One child was a toddler, the other maybe 6 when this started. They have not been taught how to keep house and that mess is far too overwhelming for cold to clean.. or 16 year old who grew up in it and thinks it is normal.
By the looks of it, the dog has never been on a walk. When we grew up, I am now 60, we were cleaning scrubbing walls and baseboards when we were not at school or accordion practice. I just spent 22 hours every day for 14 days cleaning a smokers home. Each ceiling fan took me 8 hours to scrub the one inch of STICKY DUST off the blades and SOS PADS to get the STICKY SLUDGE off of the bulb covers. My shoulders are torn, swollen hands with pins and needles for the last 3 days from scrubbing the walls, baseboards, closet mirrors, bathroom mirror and all my boxes in thee back room covered with one inch of dust because there is a large hole where the air conditioning unit is and doggie door melted 30 years ago so the flap does not cover the large hold in the door which is the room where all my possessions are. Fingers are tingling and burning.
To the person who says the oldest daughter should have her own apartment and be married she is only 16 years old that is too young to be married. But yes the girls can help with picking up everything. And help clean

It is a gross mistake to call this woman lazy. She reveals that she has the illness of depression yet in spite of that reached out for help to make life better for her and her children. Episode needs a more accurate title before she and the kids are shamed.
Those girls need to help around the house and share a room so the mum can have her own space! The 10-year-old acts like a 4-year-old. It's shameful that mom is sleeping on the living room couch and doesn't take one of the bedrooms for herself.

My heart goes out to this sweet lady. I understand being completely emotionally crippled by depression. My own mama passed three years ago and I’ve been struggling so badly since. Yeah unfortunately nobody cheers and calls you "inspirational" for managing to get out of bed that day. With mental illness the more you overcome the more people expect.
@@painpatientsaddiction3640 I always measure my depression by how active and motivated i am. Because think about it. If your ankle is broken, you are going to just sit around and do nothing but watch RUclips all day. Your ankle might not hurt while you are sitting there but it will if you walk around. Also I measure it by if I procrastinate on harder things or become obsessed with one thing while letting everything else fall into neglect.
In addition to the toys on the floor in the daughter's room; I also see various trash. Just pure laziness for these kids to just throw their trash into the floor instead of putting it in a trashcan. Unbelievable.
Kids really do learn what they live! You are their mother, lead by example! I get depressed and have a chronic illness but, I work from home on the computer and keep my house very clean! Teaching children to put things away after you use them, keeping clean, and being even sort of organized should be taught from the time they can walk! If these people, most are overweight I am too, would get up, move and clean their house everyday, they wouldn't have time or energy to be depressed. I know these 3 old farmer guys in my area. They grew up together and all are in their 90 s and still farming!! I recently asked one of them what keeps them going, motivated, and healthy. The man replied, "because we, me and my 2 old friends, always have a goal to finish/complete for tomorrow"!!! What an extremely true statement for all of us to live by❤. We can learn many useful and valuable things from our older generation ❤.
I'm calling BS on the "two day" thing. That blue bedroom got repainted. There was all kinds of flaking paint next to the window, gone now. Yes, they scrubbed off the markings, but you can tell it was repainted after that. When did all that happen? In the space of the last few hours of the second day?
Mom may be depressed but those girls have unfortunately followed her example… hope the clean up will motivate them to keep up the new status of their home, they’re really not used to tidying and cleaning up! I hope mom got some help and control on her depression🙏🏻
Totally agreed about title ...depression is a very very serious illness..that she can even work is a success...get busy girls and help your mom and yourselves¡.....good for you Debbie for getting help!..❤ it is hard to even do that.....also...being shocked is for dramatics only...
I think they should revisit this family in 6 mo down the road to see if they are keeping the place clean & organized, I have a feeling it will be right back to where it was, I highly doubt the kids learned ANYTHING from just watching someone ELSE clean up their messes, the youngest should NOT be Allowed to be writing on walls, & should be taught to know better, You would THINK Mom would have Stopped her from doing that, Plus both of these girls should have been taught HOW to keep their rooms clean & Organized, But, I doubt that will ever happen unless they Want it to!
My daughter draws on the walls all the time just get washable markers as long as it comes off. It is okay; are walls are clean as hell you wouldn't even be able to tell.

If they have the energy to make the messes, then they have the energy to clean the messes. Maybe if the place was kept clean she wouldnt be so depressed. If I leave one thing out of place it upsets me. Hoping for the best for them. Good luck everyone..
It's not helpful to shame and judge this family when the hosts were watching the pre-cleaning video. Her family members that showed up to "help" were pretty condescending, too. She's not lazy. She's suffering a mental health crisis. And, BTW, Witch Hazel used to clean a flat screen TV with damage the screen. It's better to use a damp cloth to dust it off.
Yeah, unfortunately, that part of the world's education system is pretty subpar. This is also why there's a lot of ignorant comments in the comment section. Some cultures breed a lack of curiousity and critical thinking. In its place are just judgemental assumptions. Condescending people are unaware of the complex science behind mental illness and assume everything is super simple and straightforward. But if it was super simple, then there wouldn't ever be a problem.
Please don't call these people lazy. This is a symptom of depression. And possibly ADHD. It must be treated with a professional. It can become so overwhelming and discouraging for others. I know all about that. I live with parents who have one room that is hideous. I do my best to clean my bathroom and tidy my bedroom. I've been challenged by depression and anxiety. ADHD. She needs help.
It's bad that this woman is living this way but what is super bad is that her daughters are being taught, by example, that this is an acceptable way to live. I wonder if they will EVER learn there is a better way to live.
This is actually a roomy apartment when the clutter is gone. Too many stuffed animals and beauty products. Consolidate the shampoos, and conditioners. Too many partial bottles. Get a good Dow spray Scrbbing Bubbles around the fixtures and all through the bath. Leave it sit 10 minutes. I JUST got rid of the last stuffed animals 🧸, to my grand-niece, age 3. She loved them. One day in high school my daughter detestedly said, “Get rid of these!!” And so I did, except the ones I liked...❤️. I’m using Witch Hazel on my car dash!
Sometimes it can be. I went through a depressive stage and did not clean my apartment for a few months. Thankfully I was able to get out of that stage and not let it go on for years. I know the difference when I'm lazy vs feeling depressed and overwhelmed to do anything. Everyone struggles differently
You have 2 grown girls there's no sense in your house looking like that. I battle with depression every day and it's chronic, but I keep my home clean. I pray god helps you with your depression
So having mental health problems is being lazy? Good grief this is what’s wrong with society always judging not wanting to cheer people on and have empathy for them. I’m sorry some of us are human and doing our best to not drown my house is a complete shit show and I cry everyday, but it’s awesome you call people lazy then wonder why so many people can’t take it anymore and just end it. It’s truly painful when people judge which is why we don’t ask for help people like you suck.

Depression is not being too lazy. I completely disagree with people whos judging anyone struggling with daily tasks. Have they ever lived bad situation? Were they ever in a bad position? Thank you. A voice of wisdom. I support getting help with emotional health, but to be employed AT HOME, and live like a pig in a sty with two almost grown daughters is a disgrace and NOT the result of a mental health disorder. It's laziness. Kick them out of subsidized housing and make them pay fair market price for a sty if that's how they want to live. Mental health, my butt.

Yes, I will be doing my own shower too.
Seriously i could not insist on having my own room if my own mother didnt have a room and was sleeping in the living room. Thats just messed up.
Right? and the girls can share the master since it would be bigger and mom in the smaller room. I’m a single mom and have been sharing with my youngest daughter for years. She just got her own room recently when my oldest moved out
I had also hoped the girls would share the bedroom. Sad mum can get her own private space!! Nooo
It was a disgusting headline and cruelly inacurate
And what's wrong with her daughters? Are they depressed too?
You are uneducated .@rosalialima7
I think hoarding still is some kind of OCD? People who suffer from it tend to be very specific about certain items and have great memories about what they have and “obsess” over them being thrown away, keeping anything they deem in anyway useful.
Does anyone else find it unbelievable that there's no roaches or mice?!😮
You can see mice poop around the couch. Ugh

The girls could be sharing a room so mother has a proper bedroom.
No excuse for the daughters…
Let's not forget it's been this way for over 10 years. One child was a toddler, the other maybe 6 when this started. They have not been taught how to keep house and that mess is far too overwhelming for cold to clean.. or 16 year old who grew up in it and thinks it is normal.
Exactly! I started helping my mom clean the house when I was barely 5 years old!
Poor dog probably depressed too. It doesn’t know any better.
To the person who says the oldest daughter should have her own apartment and be married she is only 16 years old that is too young to be married. But yes the girls can help with picking up everything. And help clean
She SHOULD be able to clean her room, though. Now that it is clean, she can help maintain it.
I thought kids become different from their parents (usually as a form of rebellion). Honestly thought that the kids' room was going to be spotless.

I’m so happy because of this beautiful woman. It’s very hard to be depressed and single mom. All the best for you girls 💕💕💕

I have adhd and stuff like this is the reason I have a daily routine on my fridge for household chores. I do two tasks per day, along with at least one load of laundry, and since I started that, my home has been so much easier to keep clean.
Sophie should have scrubbed that “artwork” from the wall!
Right!!
My heart goes out to this sweet lady. I understand being completely emotionally crippled by depression. My own mama passed three years ago and I’ve been struggling so badly since. If I was already in bed for 30 yrs, I can’t even function now. I was in icu with Covid for 9 weeks. I have trouble taking care of my own hygiene. My husband completely resents me. He is sick of me. I can’t even be honest with him about my feelings or thoughts that I fight, I don’t know why I’m still even here. He simply doesn’t relate to me. This said, thank you for helping this mama out. After my mom got divorced, she started working and my oldest sister and I, we both were in charge to clean our house and I was only 10 so those girls are big enough to help to clean in the house
Those girls should be right in there as well so they learn how to clean properly and not allow clutter.
Absolutely 💯, those girls need to be in there helping their mom clean and letting the team show them how to properly put things away!
Agreed
One of the first things I see is a teenager sitting on the couch. Why isn't her sister helping her clean?
I can remember at the age of 5 standing on a stool and doing dishes! My older sister used to vacuum, dust and do the kitchen floor every week for Mom. Mom would do laundry and iron. We weren’t aloud to clutter!
This poor woman needs help with her daughters thank GOD someone is helping them!!!😢😢
A TIDY HOUSE IS NEXT TO IMPOSSIBLE WHEN YOUR DEPRESSED. EVEN SHOWERING BECOMES HARD. REMEMBER, UNLESS YOU HAVE BEEN DEPRESSED, YOU WON'T UNDERSTAND.
Yeah unfortunately nobody cheers and calls you "inspirational" for managing to get out of bed that day. With mental illness the more you overcome the more people expect.
@catherineblair1221 never saw kitchen, or big sis room...

@@painpatientsaddiction3640 SOMETIMES IT TAKES ANOTHER PERSON TO SPOT WHAT IS WRONG WITH US.
Those kids need to get off their backsides
Her kids are old enough to clean
So True!❤
Wouldn’t have time to be depressed??? You have zero compassion and understanding for someone who claims to have depression/illness.
I dont feel okay with the mum sleeping in the living room, thr girld can share a room.
I'm calling BS on the "two day" thing. That blue bedroom got repainted. There was all kinds of flaking paint next to the window, gone now. Yes, they scrubbed off the markings, but you can tell it was repainted after that. When did all that happen? In the space of the last few hours of the second day?
I noticed that all nasty people and hoarders have pets. If you can't keep your home up how are you caring for children and pets?
Mom may be depressed but those girls have unfortunately followed her example… hope the clean up will motivate them to keep up the new status of their home, they’re really not used to tidying and cleaning up! I hope mom got some help and control on her depression🙏🏻
Without mental therapy
This cleanliness will never last
WASTE OF TIME POSSIBLY
My mom always said you have 15 minutes to do a chore and really if the 3 of you do 15 minutes a day each the flat will look great everyday.
Totally agreed about title

The channel is called “Filth”. It’s not exactly a clinical approach to a serious mental illness. 😂
They have a lift ...not like they have to take the stairs .take the garbage out daily

I love how Sophie acts like a actual 10yr old (minus not cleaning her room) , kids today are not kids anymore :(
Also why can’t the kids share a room? Mom needs a room.
Debby hasn't cleaned since her oldest was born. I don't blame you Deb. I've been there and hardly picked myself up.
If they have the energy to make the messes, then they have the energy to clean the messes. Maybe if the place was kept clean she wouldnt be so depressed. If I leave one thing out of place it upsets me. Hoping for the best for them. Good luck everyone..

I was wondering if it was the same lady!!!
Grandparents spoil the grandchildren with toys….. it would be better if they could spend that money to hire people to provide a clean home.
Those girls need to clean their own room hello!
Awww, good luck Ms Debbie! We all struggle with one thing or another so you’re definitely not alone.
Laziness is a symptom of depression.
It's bad that this woman is living this way but what is super bad is that her daughters are being taught, by example, that this is an acceptable way to live. I wonder if they will EVER learn there is a better way to live.
They did a marvelous job! Hopefully this will give the family the motivation to keep it that way!

I still believe keeping a filthy house is just lazy behavior!
You are absolutely right.
Sometimes it can be. I went through a depressive stage and did not clean my apartment for a few months. Thankfully I was able to get out of that stage and not let it go on for years.
I know the difference when I'm lazy vs feeling depressed and overwhelmed to do anything. Everyone struggles differently

Stop making excuses for those 3 lazy people. It MAKES me so angry.😮😤
Than you don't understand mental illness and are not compassionate.
Finally someone knows reality.
Unless you are a broke, overweight, single parent don’t judge. She is doing her best with the tools she got. She is trying.
That would be really nice if her daughters could share a room so that their Mom could have a bedroom for herself. She is the Mom and does deserve it.
Teach your children to do household chores
The older girl’s room is clean
Why would you use a metal scouring pad to scratch porceline or metal surfaces? I would not do that.
This is like having a show called "Lazy" filming depressed people and getting mad when they don't just undo their depression
As the team leaves, Debbie and the girls will start hoarding and not cleaning again. It's a much deeper issue !!!
Shame on the person who titled this episode. This home owner has issues going on. Calling her lazy is extremely disrespectful.
