I love these talks. Thank you so much for producing this. All are so knowledgable and the thought and care that goes into making these bespoke products really comes out here. There is something about Leica that touches the soul. Despite the cost of these and the fact that one can have similar if not directly comparable experiences shooting with other cameras I keep coming back to my Leica M series.
What an outstanding opportunity for us to hear the thoughts of these innovative and talented craftsmen who keep building inspiring lenses and other tools for us. Thanks.
For the love of lenses why was the great new Summarit lens line stopped? Don't tell me due to low demand - those go now for much higher prices online than they were offered as new lenses by Leica. I personally think this was a mistake Leica did by cancelling this "affordable" M lens line with f/2.4 and f/2.5 lenses. I own the 35/2.4 M-lens and it is a gem.
Always love Peter's charts - very clear and informative. Please discuss the role of the LEICA-Certified Panasonic lenses in a future stream. I'd like to see a line of Elmar-SL primes with circa f/4 apertures and the magnetic aperture ring (like the SL2's command dials; thus affording cine or stills transition mode). Not necessarily compact or with uniform formfactors, just at a lower price point ;) I don't mind them being made in PT/JP/CZ/RU/TW/CN/Antarctica wherever, as long as I can justify adding some modern Leitz to my stable of Sigma primes and Panasonic zooms :)
Thank you for this very insightful presentation. I'm a portrait photographer and I love the contrast of the Leica lenses but they can be too sharp for some of my subjects. Has there been any thought about making a 75mm or 90mm portrait lens with a soft focus adjustment ring that can vary the amount of sharpness to adjust it for a wide variety of portrait situations? Other manufacturers have offered models with this type of feature in the past and I think Leica would create something magical with this type of challenge.
I am enjoying the talk on: For the Love of Lenses. It is fascinating that I will watch it to the end. I am convinced that I should buy the 33mm Summicron lens for my SL2. Can You tell me where I can buy the black T-Shirt with the lens optic logo worn by Antonio Di Benedetto? I live in Quebec Province, Canada.
Hi! Thanks for tuning in and checking out our Leica Tech Talk. The lens t-shirt I wore is unfortunately no longer available. But be sure to follow @leicacamerausa on social media channels to see if we ever get more shirts like that in the future.
Does Leica have any plans to add new lenses for the S system? how about a Noctilux for the S system or a new summilux? Also is why not make a mirrorless medium format camera the size of or slightly bigger than an M camera?
I looked at the Leica T a long time ago (many times!), and recently got a chance to pick up a TL2 since now I already have L mount lenses. It's the most beautiful camera ever made. I'd love to see a stream about the TL2. Please update the firmware to use the aperture rings of the 65mm etc, and please continue the T series. FYI I come from Fuji so the command dials and aperture ring are more significant to me than the "iPhone generation" narrative - I'm attracted to the bold aesthetic, structural integrity and direct controls.
Hi, this's Bassam from Egypt; I own an SL2 and really, it's an amazing piece of art but, why does it have these huge lenses? Will it'll be a lighter & smaller lens for the L mount; just like in the case of the M cameras? Also, I'd like to know why it's only one lens, Vario lens (24-70mm) is with a fixed f. 2.8? Is it doable having the wider range of Vario lenses with fixed f. for the L mount? Regards.
Thank you guys, very proud Leica M10-R owner with 35mm f1.4 and 75mm f2. HOWEVER,,, ;) is there a real reason why the software is so slow??? I also use Visoflex and last 30 days the software crashes 4- times already (screen freezes). I turn the camera off and the freezing doesn't go away until I physically remove the battery. LOVE the hardware but the software is very slow for this day and age and after spending $20k (which i don't mind) i should be expecting more reliable and up to date software in my opinion. Anyway, Still my fav setup and will be for a long time but pls look into it. Thank you again
How does a self-described, amateur street photographer justify carrying an $18K piece of equipment around with him all the time? Thorsten Overgaard says "always carry your camera." If I put a ding in my new M10-R, I would cry.

I own a 50mm f2.4 Summarit, got it used and mint condition, and it is great lens and a great value

The Leica APO-Summicron-M 35mm f/2 ASPH. Lens is still not available in stores such as B&H or Adorama almost 2 years after this video!
Very informative. Thanks!

I guess you could just do what DPs do and use filters like a Glimmerglass or something. That way you have more options.
@@Biosynchro - Thanks, that is what I do today. My favorite is to shoot through black pantyhose with a wide open aperture.
@@qnetx Cheaper than a Thambar!
@@qnetx gotta try that.
Stefan (being product designer for Leica) had to buy his 35mm SL- so I can forget about ever getting anything free from Leica :P

The Canon 50mm f1.2 LTM produces magical images on the M10 Monochrom.

I knew it.. Leica was capable of producing a non-woke, photography only video! ✊🏿✊🏾✊🏽
Would Leica ever come out with a AF M lens?
