You did a really amazing job of avoiding all of the massive and sprawling trailer parks. That's not easy because there are so many.
In the seventies all of that mall garbage was a massive apple orchard for Virginia Tech. They bulldozed all of the apple trees and sold the land to developers.
Check out the one I just posted. Very similar, but because it's summer, it's much more scenic ... green.

You must be referring to the building that was once the high school, then the middle school, now Montgomery County Public Schools Facilities and Planning building. The building has quite a history. Google the Black Sisters Christiansburg, if you aren't familiar with the story.
