    • @JurijsJutjajevs

      Usually lack of nutrient A is causing excess of Nutrient B and excess of Nutrient B is causing algae. You can fight Nutrient B or you can add more Nutrient A and bring nutrients in balance and make your plants happy. Happy plants will outcompete algae

    Hi Juris! , Staghorn algae is a total mistery for me. But in my technique is , for some reason 🤷‍♂️ , normal during 2nd month, then, dissapears alone at the 3rd month and never back. And yes, glutaraldehide based products (and h2o2) kill the staghorn. But if you ignore the staghorn and continue the normal routines, dissapears alone 🤷‍♂️ . Last years i do that: simply ignores him. Saludos from Chile 👋

      In internet and forums all says that staghorn happens by "low co2, much Fe or PO4" but in my experience (and opinion) is not true because i maintain 30ppm co2, and measured plant nutrient consumption (i do test of po4 , no3, fe before add nutrients twice for week) for every tank , and you might have zero values and still develop staghorn. So 🤷‍♂️...in fact zero values is worst for plants and better for algae ...Well, i keep normal routine, mechanical removal and continue add nutrients in exact dosis according plant consumption... and the staghorn dissapears in 1 or 1.5 month ☺️ . Saludos!

    Interesting. Seachem Flourish Excel is based on Glutaraldehyde(C5H8O2), and it works perfectly against any type of algae if you overdose 3-5 times. Just perfect. And you do not need to mix with air. But there is no C5H8O2 EasyCarbo(at least it smells differently), and there no information about ingredients in EasyCarbo, but you say it works fine... I'm very surprised. Could you please take a few more videos to show the results you get on Easy Carbo? Thanks in advance!

      @@JurijsJutjajevs BTW, as a professional I'm sure you use(or used) peroxide against some types of algae(thread algae for example). Don't you? I think it will be one topic for one of the next pro tips?) BTW. I think you also are familiar with fighting against(or example thread) algae by completely shadowing aquarium when you turn off lights and cover aquarium to have complete darkness inside. Shadowing for 3 days completely and 100% kills many algae. The only side effect is that plants grow much faster and trying to become much higher. I usually cover an aquarium for 48 hours and it helps. And 3% peroxide helps to give enough oxygen to fish and inverts while there is no light and photosynthesis is stopped. Because when you add Peroxide in water (H2O2) to water (H2O) it dissolves in water to H2O(water) and Oxygen(O2). I'm sure you know this, I'm just trying to share ideas for next pro tips.

      I actually increased dosing at the same time I treated the algae and now it’s algae free and I increased dosing further

      micro fert or plant sexier fert contain high iron... caused red algae...
      so.. up macro fert dose slightly the next days...
      For us who use lean doser.. EI (Estimative Index) method by tom barr also overdose fert... but just big dose macro fert not micro fert...

    Why is it that this kills the algae jurijis as I thought this was effectively nutrients of sorts ?

    • @JurijsJutjajevs
      @JurijsJutjajevs  4 года назад +1

      Glutaraldehyde is used to disinfect surfaces in hospitals. It kills all organic it gets in contact with. Algae is very primitive and is damaged easily by this.

    • @JordanTait95
      @JordanTait95 4 года назад

      Jurijs Jutjajevs does that mean it could kill plants if you over does then ? I used it in my tank once and I blame it for killing my carpet but not totally sure 👎

    I have this type of algae and nothing helps just to let you know :D
    And yes I do make a regular water janges
    I do not overfeed
    I use tropica fert. as described
    My co2 system is co2 art and it is perfect
    And I use ro water.
    So in my case easy carbo or seachem do not help.
    But the interesting thing is that I have 2 aquariums and one of them has the algae and the other does not.
    This is my exp.

    • @JurijsJutjajevs
      @JurijsJutjajevs  4 года назад +1

      Have you tried reducing light, increasing co2, dosing more fertilizer, cleaning filter, overdosing easycarbo ?

    • @JurijsJutjajevs
      @JurijsJutjajevs  4 года назад +1

      Quick test: then off filter, take 2ml easy cargo in a syringe and slowly inject on a single spot of algae, observe over the next days. It will turn red and die. In the aquarium showed in the video I have overdosed 5x the recommend amount several times, now it’s all gone

      @@JurijsJutjajevs hahaha I have tryied everything as I sayd I'm not trying to be rude. What I do is 2 timese a mone h2o2 treatment on top of the seachem carbon.
      The reason why spot treating does not work in my case is because there is no single spot it is everywhere :D
      Anyway I can share a my story how I got rid of it forever in previous tanks I had. I mean I had it and it went away on its own slowly. No h2o2 or carbon treatments nothing.
      One way was deep substrate layer 8cm at it's thinnest the other way was with plenum.
      Both tanks were walstad method which I gradually after the algae were gone (6 months) turned into co2 ones with dosing.
      Hope it helps :)
