Perhaps using mini bolt cutter would have sorted the wire reinforced cord, that’s what I used on my deconstruction of garden parasol. Thanks for sharing your experience. Best wishes from the UK🇬🇧🏴
Just did the same thing today except the fabric was ruined, took the aluminum and put it in the recycle bin and the dump, the scrap yard is too far to make it worthwhile

Angle grinders are dangerous. I bought my brother one a while back, he insisted to use it without the guard. His thought was he was smarter then the average guy. that was right before he went to the ER to get his finger stitched up. moral of my story, ALWAYS use the guard.
