    I don't care how she got the machine, I'm happy for her! Many of you see the CNC as an "Easy button", but I can assure you it's not! You still have to learn software, feeds and speeds, how to think through setups, etc. It's no different than learning the correct way to use a hand plane, it's just a different level of technology. This is probably the most complex and complicated tool she will ever need to learn and I for one am excited to follow her along this journey. Nothing replaces an artist or a craftsman, this is just a new tool with it's own set of challenges! Good for you lady, I subscribed and I can't wait to see what you can do in a year!

    We just closed the deal on a CNC router for our cabinet shop. After much homework and seeing the machines in action, it came down to the Laguna M series or the ShopSabre PRO 408 (both about $40K depending on how equipped). We were willing to go with either, but in the end ShopSabre's year-end discounts and promo goodies (like a $2500 on-table 4th axis attachment at no extra cost) gave them the edge. The Swift shown here is Laguna's entry-level machine, probably more than adequate for most smaller shops. We likely bought more machine than we need at the moment, but I didn't want to have to replace it with a different one in the near future!

    Congratulations on your new machine. Makes an Old Guy like me think about the Machinist that we’re around when I was young and working. They knew how to measure, machine and do hand work. Today it’s computers. I’m not saying that is bad, it’s just different. Quite a change in what one use to have to know then as compared to now. The world changes faster as I’ve seen it. But for me you just can’t beat hand work for my mental sanity and satisfaction. Good luck Young Lady I admire you. And as always stay safe. Thanks. By the way I own over $15,000 worth of Laguna tools in my shop. None as “fancy” as your new one!

    This is all very nice, I teach High School Woodworking, a year ago we purchased a Swift 4x4 through a generous Matching Grant. Laguna did not set up the machine, I did! When the machine did not work, I repaired it after looking for help. We also did not get any Logo. I am blown away that Laguna has spent so much catering to you and not to the Schools, I guess I just need to know my role. Good machine all in all, just don’t expect much from customer support. Wow. Been awhile since I've checked out your channel. Last time I think you were setting up an xcarve. Then you moved your shop. And now!! Congrates. If I saw correctly you have a vacuum deck. 1 or 2 pumps? You should never have to tab parts any more unless they get too small. Just a suggestion,try to get your vacuum hose from the dust collector above your z axis. Either by a boom or hang it with enough hose to reach end to end. The only limitation of the machine is your imagination. Enjoy,I will try to do better to check your channel more often. Oh I do use cut2d pro and vcarve also. If you would like a few files I wouldn't mind sharing.

    • @EOTG_AK
      @EOTG_AK 4 года назад +2

      Tom Zorba no doubt that you should have a commercial use for a machine like this and have the ROI worked out (or just a pile of money for your hobby). We built a Shapeoko XXL with a 32”x32” work area and the cost was about $2k. It definitely didn’t come with a team of people to set it up or train us. Just a box full of parts. We learned the software from RUclips videos.

    • @petershupe3460
      @petershupe3460 4 года назад

      Just the machine itself would be $21k add the dust collector for another $2k and then a vacuum pump for another $4 - $5 K. Takes a lot of power as well, so you are looking at a few hundred $$ for breakers and electrical installations. $21k is a good price for a 4'x8' CNC machine. These are not hoibby machines and are meant to run 8 hrs /day 5 days a week or more. The big use is cabinetry. I have a 2'x3' machine and paid about $10k. Again not really a hobby machine, unless you have the $$$$. This machine would pay for itself in less than a year if you had the work.

    I left this channel a long time ago. The videos being produced have nothing to do with what she started the channel for. This is now about a large woodworking business. I can only assume that she has a large enough customer base that want either parts produced, I.e. contract machining, or a deep pocket silent partner. Cannot imagine a You Tube channel plus patreon subscribers let you build huge shops on large properties with very large expensive equipment. Personally, there is no craftsmanship here, that’s what turns my crank. Save your breath folks, I have spent most of life writing software to make machines do things so you will never convince me that anything bespoke can come from such a machine.
