I'm 46 years old and I never even played football but I've been in about five car accidents and a lot of fights when I was a kid and now I have seizures at the age of 46 years old they started when I was 40. And it's because of the concussions that I suffered as a child. Concussions are very very very very serious I can't stress that enough I'm going through it right now God bless this guy

NOWINSKI is right... there has to be placed some sort of investigation on people in thr NFL under Goodell and people at Amazon under Besos... both have heavily promoted and for obvious reasons Thursday nite football... and it is necessary to check if they applied pressure to the teams to skirt around and make sure their marquee players are there for exposure.

No one really remembers, but, Sidney Crosby is THE PERFECT EXAMPLE for this. Got hit in the head on Jan 1, 2011, played 4 DAYS LATER, got hit in head again, wobbled off the ice, did not play again that season, didn't come back til Nov 25th 2011, played 8 games, started having symptoms again, didn't play again til March 25th, 2012. This is a man who played a playoff series with a broken foot, only missed a couple games with a broken jaw, so his toughness is without question. BUT, HE was smart enough, and the people around him was smart enough to say, hey, you HAVE to protect your brain. And that was 11 years ago. When I was 32 I was playing pickup basketball, while back pedaling on defense someone threw a full court pass which I had a beat on, so I lept to intercept it. My teammate had the same idea though he didn't jump, and he was 50 pounds bigger so he won the battle of the mass, in air, he must have taken my legs out from me and my head hit the court crazy hard... it's a testament to the strength of the human skull because if I hit it any harder it would have cracked like an egg, I shudder when I think back on it. I instantly had a massive headache... definitely concussed. Ever since then, I get episodic migraines which prior to abortive medications were absolutely debilitating... they would make me vomit and I'm not embarrassed to admit that I often cried from the inescapable pain that lasted for 12-20 hours. This was just one concussion, so they are really fucking serious. I hope Tua's career isn't over, but even more important, I hope his life isn't altered in ways that he will regret. If the NFL has learn anything from the past years on CTE, it should be obvious to change the rules on players that suffer continuous hits on the head (linesman), WR, QB, CB and limit them to a maximum number of consecutive games played and enforce a recovery period (2 weeks or whatever is required). Something very important to bear in mind, is that fans will turn on TVs and attend the games to see their favorite jersey winning the game, doesn't matter who is playing or how spectacular his team is playing, they want to see a win a championship, so increase rosters to 120 or 180, they have enough player's market, reduce salaries and still make tons of money.

The game can definitely be evolved so there is less devastating physical contact..the sheernumber of injury status reports..attrition of player participation thru a 17 game season..increasingly NFL does not showcase the best players vs the best on opposing teams. It is about who is left to contend. Just the way players creatively celebrate winning moments..shows the power of improvisation and the reward for playing to winning outcomes. There are such positives to NFL games each season. It doesn’t need to be a house of cards..where devastating hits preclude otherwise sophisticated and well thought out play calls.

The narrative in regards to the Tua concussion incidents has clearly overlooked the real issue. The question no one is asking and deserves to be answered is whether Tua is physically fit to play football. His injury history is an indicator of this and he’s always at risk and his probability of injury is very high on any play.
Tua’s initial concussion should have set off alarm bells because it wasn’t a result of being driven into the tuff by a player or group of players whereby he had 260 to 900+ lbs of weight burying his head or back into the turf. He stumbled backwards and hit his head off the ground. Who would expect a player at any age or at any level of the game getting a concussion on that play?
Eric Lindros is a perfect example of someone playing at the highest level in his sport who was very prone to concussions/ injuries. 😢

Maybe we need to expand team rosters to 106 players and limit play to no more than once every two weeks. We can't trust the players to admit to head injuries. We certainly cannot trust the coaches, trainers, team physicians or the owners. Clearly we cannot trust the NFL leadership and their so-called independent medical professionals. Limit players' exposure to all injuries by playing every other game. Spread the risk out among an additional 1700 college players willing to play in the NFL no matter what.

I’ve had this theory that the NFL (and all sport media to be honest) loves it when a team with a market like Miami is successful. Even when The Dolphins were terrible, there always was this effort to constantly hype them up, because the city of Miami has so many foreigners who are at or just right above the poverty line, and therefore primed to have their kids recruited to play football as “a way out”.
