    Very informative video . I do yoga and have been excessively stretching the hip since this pain thinking It would help . It’s been getting worse so this video is so helpful

    Thank you very much for your coherent explanation. I haven't seen a video that doesn't recommend stretching yet. All tell stretchers, stretchers, and again stretching. Greetings, Thomas

    Thanks for the information. My hips are a war zone. I developed very bad lateral hip pain due to overly-enthusiastic exercise bike sprints following a sedentary time. I never received a specific diagosis, I was just told my hamstrings are tight and needed stretching. Fast forward 3 years, I also now have high hamstring tendinopathy (self diagnosis, since I was forced to learn about these things on the internet) which is even harder to get rid of than my original injury. I also have a little pain in my left hip joint area. The only thing that has started to improve my symptoms is careful isometric glut/hamstring bridges, and no stretching. I'll credit my physiotherapist with the fact that they also advised walking and bridges, but it's so frustrating to spend years in pain due to a lack of communication and proper diagnosis.

      I know exactly where you're coming from I waited 7 years to get my right hip replaced and the last week before I got it replaced I... I had this bullshit shooting pain in my left side I found out it was hip bursitis this is the most annoying shit I've ever gone through in my life I'd like to cut my fucking leg off sometimes!! I'm sorry I'm having flare ups right now and it's driving me up the fucking wall!!

      Did you find any relief.. my dr said why do an MRI all treatment is going to be the same regardless of diagnosis.. was pretty disappointed when 6 mo later still no wiser or better.. finally had mri.. showed Trocanteric bursitis and tendonopathy and labral tear... , saw orthopedist 3 days ago and he said it may be a life long thing! Uggh
      Are you any better ? im asking people on this channel as I'm losing hope.. I went from plying golf tennis yoga hikeing.. to a wobble and lipping and tempted to borrow my moms cane...

      @@Katie-vy5rd For me it's been gradually getting better, in fact I have virtually no pain now, but the only thing that ever works is gentle strengthening exercises of the affected area. Stretching only ever makes things worse, but it seems that strengthening is the key, as long as you start small. If your issue is in the trochanter area then you probably want to do lateral leg raises with resistance bands, starting from the lightest band - but don't do any stretching. Maybe gradually introduce more walking too. I hope that helps you too and you can get some relief over time.

      Point to where it hurts.

    Love this video. I have terrible bursitis on both hips and I have been doing exactly what I shouldn’t. I’ve had a shot and it helped somewhat but it’s beginning to get painful again and I can’t have another shot until December. I’ve seen a Chiropractor and also a deep tissue massager. She really dug deep and I believe that’s why I’m still having pain. I’m going to watch your videos and see if I can get relief from them. Do you think Yoga could help? I’ve tried everything else!

    • @SportsInjuryPhysio

      It can be useful for pain relief - the jury is still out on whether it actually does anything for healing. But it usually doesn't have nay negative effects, so it is something to use if you have access to a machine.

    What solution i should have if I got pudendal neuralgia and hip bursitis? I am very confused on the physical therapy/massage part. Should I just resort to NSAIDs and injections for the hips bursa?

    • @SportsInjuryPhysio
      @SportsInjuryPhysio  Год назад

      Get your injury assessed by a physio because they will be able to determine what the best solution is for you. There is no one-size-fits-all treatment for these things so it is important to have the advice tailored to your specific situation.

    I have been diagnosed with greater trochanteric pain syndrome by a orthopaedic consultant. I was told previously by a physio to to keep walking and this has made the condition worse. I now can only walk about the house. Do I start doing gentle isometric strengthen exercises or wait til it is a bit better?

    • @SportsInjuryPhysio
      @SportsInjuryPhysio  Год назад

      It is really difficult to advise on this without knowing all the details about how your pain reacts to specific things etc. so I don't know if you're ready for it or not. But if you did try it, start with only a very small amount to test the delayed pain response. Perhaps you've already seen that we have a playlist about this but if not, then check the videos in here - they apply to both bursitis and gluteal tendinopathy: ruclips.net/p/PLkRW4ITRa6bAaBkxDvHt1d3w_Xp_OJfeN

    Hi, Maraike. A small question. I have a relatively soft mattress, I'm a backrest and sink with my hips, so I have a kind of pressure on my inflammation. Can this pressure make healing more difficult and should buy me a harder mattress? Greetings, Thomas

    • @SportsInjuryPhysio
      @SportsInjuryPhysio  4 года назад +2

      Sleeping on the painful side usually hurts regardless of the hardness of the mattress. Best to sleep on the other side with pillows between your legs to stop the leg dropping down.

      If you're not sure what to do, it often can be useful to test it out and see how your hip reacts afterwards. So if you do stretch - how does the pain react later in the day, that night specifically in bed, and the next day.

      It can do that for some people if they have less stability in that part of the joint - you need to check with your physio for a different exercise as that is usually a sign that it is not right for you.
