  • Here I show how to graft a new capilliary to a broken temp gauge. And it worked.

    Great job!
    I guess the key lesson is about keeping the bulb as cold as possible. You wouldn't want any ether vapour interfering with your soldering!

    Thanks for the info. Have a 37 Buick and temp gauge not working. Just ordered a gauge from India a$30 delivered to Australia and it does have the original type of capillary tube so we’ll see how it goes.

      Hope it goes well for you Alan. Like I said get everything prepared and give it plenty of time in the ice before cutting the new one.

      I purchased a new one from ebay. Looking at past purchases it cost about US$14.delivered and I think it actually came from China.
