  • I often get asked if the TC Wanderer is a suitable electric bike to commute to work every day. Range and in traffic performance are also common questions. In this video I actually ride from my house to work using the TC wanderer as my daily transport. If you are interested in a "real world" example I recommend you watch all of this video so you can study the road condition, hills, flat areas and fast sections to compare with your work route. I have used on screen telemetry data in both metric and imperial measurements.

    Nice commute there Ray!
I’m going to check my bike later regarding the batteries.
It’s been sat for a week since i fully charged it. I leave the power breaker on so the alarm etc is always working ( a stipulation for my insurance ) it has drained 13% which is ok.
I see your Wanderers wheels look naked compared to your other bikes.
Have you any plans to put rim tape on?
I was thinking of putting British Racing Green tape on mine.
The weather looks reasonable today so i might go for a little ride.
    Keep safe matey, Steve

Thanks Steve, the weather was good for the ride to work. I'm planning on putting gold rim tape on the wheels that matches the gold pin stripping on the wanderer. I think it will look good but no way of telling until it's on and out in the sun.
      Safe riding, Ray

    Hi Ray;
I was forgetting to tell you, in Japan there is no NIU brand, I think the EU is the only one that has regeneration, and with so many descents you would save a lot in regenerative energy.
it's just a known EU opinion why you bought SOCO.
    Good curves

      Hi Manuel,
      Regarding the regenerative braking;
My Surron has programmable braking and I use it for decleration only. (Dynamic braking) Recharge braking (regenerative braking) doesn't work well on one wheeled EV's. You would need to have a 50km - 100km down hill to get some charge back into the battery. Don't forget these batteries take about 6 hours to charge at 5amps. The bike generates anywhere between 2 and 5 amps when regererating power. An EV car with a 4 motor drive generates about 100amps.
      I Hope this Helps,
      Ride safe,
      Ray

It is always gratifying to exchange opinions with you about electric mobility especially on these bikes, I am 69 years old, when I was young I drove Yamahas 200, and XT 650, in the 70s, who is a motard is here the animal, and now I am coming back, but more calmly, being an electric MY focus. Thank you for sharing your experiences on top of the punch.

Arent these 50cc equivalent? I saw you accelerating from 60 to 70 kph when overtaking. Is this the 125cc equivalent model ( although i dont think that exists for this model) or am i missing something?

@@evobsm2328 Interesting, as far as my understanding goes both the TS Street Hunter and the TC Wanderer both have the same 2500w motor and controller. They both have a top speed of 75km/h. Most countries see these as a 125cc bike. My Wanderer has a 125cc registration number.

    Good Ray:
Thanks for the video, it's great for us to understand what you spend and what the Punch is in progress.
3/4 issues.1 The braking of the punch must be with the shims still very polished because it makes a squeak when you brake.
It is truly an extraordinary country in beauty, in education, how people respect those who walk on the road, without there being improper atrocities, horns, all that is BAD in MY country.
Now what does it matter in the displacement of the punch in YOUR energy expenditure, you did 23.2KM and spent 17% of battery? which battery the two or one, is if it were the two batteries to spend 17%, this means that only one would spend for the same 23.2 KM 34%, what TE would be left 66% to do 46,4Km? Right?
It's just that at the end of the video you don't explain if it was the two batteries or one.
Another and it does not have to do with the Soco, is the batteries, as TE said in Portugal this bike costs € 4,000 plus € 270 name ticket, an additional battery costs € 1,200, this already with 23% VAT unfortunately in MY country the traders are a CHULOS, they do not negotiate anything or and as they say or you do not have the product, this in motorcycles as in cars, Europe has entered a cycle of liberalism / unbridled capitalism that everyone wants to enrich to the account of business as there was no tomorrow. It's just my position and point of view. Thanks again for YOUR video which is divine.
    Good curves.
    Hug.

      Hi Manuel,
Thanks for your comments. I plan to clean the rear squeaky brake and use copper grease on the shims on the weekend, (I've just been too lazy).
Yes, as I said in the beginning of the video my Wanderer has two batteries. Sorry I don't write it on the graph at the end.
If you have only one battery you could expect about 60km range in mode 3 on the same road and speed conditions.
Don't forget the wanderer goes into power save mode when there's 20km remaining (10 to 20km/h max).
In Japan we have these bikes plus a few more not on the website www.xeam.jp/bikebrand/
I also have a Surron that has dynamic braking.
The cost of the TC Wanderer in Japan with 2 batteries is €4,318.22 including VAT and Number.
Also I really like this bike www.tromox.com/en/ukko-s/
This bike has more than double the power of the Wanderer and the single battery is a 72v 55ah.
      €4,700.00 including VAT and Number.
      I Hope this Helps,
      Ride safe,
      Ray
