Just wanted to say thanks very much for the cable - arrived quickly here in Italy, and I've re-programmed my TC Max. Regenerative braking makes a big difference up here in the mountains!
@@thecapacitator8137 I'd like to ask you a couple of questions, if you don't mind. regarding the energy recovery, is it only on braking or on engine braking too? did you manage to figure out how much you more you get out of a full charge on average? Second question is about a fault on my front left indicator. It doesn't work . on the other hand, the back left winks faster. Right hand side is perfect. My guess is that the LED is dead, but I can't find the connection to the loom so I can unplug it and test it. I also thought it could be the relay, but that wouldn't affect just that one light, i think. So my question is, do you know where the connector is located, please? funnily enough the back indicators are a breeze to work on. Thank you very much.!
The setting I change in the video turns on regen only when the brakes are applied. If you look underneath that setting there's one called EBS auto_mode. That could possibly be for engine braking. I haven't tried it though. I don't know how much extra range you get from the regen. Regarding your indicator. There's a possibility the wire has broken as the loom gets pulled on whilst steering. It's a bit tricky too get to the connector. The connection is in the rubber cover in front of the battery box. @@thecapacitator8137 ok. I took the bike apart as per your previous video. Excellent tutorial!. Got to the connector for the indicator and everything looked ok, but i had no continuity to the LED. Hi all! I can confirm on a trip of 22km I save 5% of battery power with regenerative breaking enabled. Also, I activated the 'conservative tuning' mentioned in the other video from 'The Capacitor'. Overall I am very happy with the outcome and can say it is worth the effort if you live in an area with some hills. Not sure how much I will save on straight and level terrain. Something that should be mentioned: you do not need to turn on the bike when connecting to the serial cable in order to program the BMS. It even works with the main switch disabled and only the battery in the bike. In fact, it does not work if the bike is on or unlocked. I also left the serial cable connected to the BMS and fed it through a hole in the glove compartment. This way I can make adjustments to the BMS without the need of demounting all the right hand side fairings.
One reason I've heard for not activate regen is that it's bad for fully charged Li-Ion batteries. That's an easy problem to overcome, though: Don't charge your batteries to 100 %. Those who design those controllers could also make sure that regen is automatically inactivated when the battery charge is more than 95 % or something like that. Some electric cars, like Polestar, seamlessly does that and use the brakes instead when the battery is fully charged, almost fully charged or too cold or whatever, and you can't feel the difference, the feeling is the same.
@@johnnyrosenberg8674 That makes a big sense! Curiously both original 5A and 10A chargers are 83V (~93% SoC) so regen shouldn't be dramatically bad for the batteries even once the charger green light lit, specially because the BMS charge current cutoff is at 10A vs 90A discharge at full throttle. There may be another good reason!

thx you very much for this consistant job !! nice ! Question about the max Power and current settings on the controler, on mode 3 you read arround 90A on your BMS for arround 6.5 KW ... It is the sum between average and phase start up setting ? (81A+10A) ? Have you try to increase the average current setting ? do you know the max power of the motor ? short and long term ? on more thanks for your great job ! Philippe.
Hi Philippe. I'm not sure why maximum current isn't the exact number set in the controller. I haven't played with those settings. The specs of the motor say 4.1kw maximum so it's already running pretty hard. s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_DdV8zVL
Beautiful! Cable purchased. I'm in properly hilly Devon with my ride to work pretty much all down hill (200m elevation). Looking forward to not hitting the brakes as much as well as charging enroute. I notice you dropped the amps instead of speed for the modes, does this mean you'll eventually get to the top speed in every mode but it will just take much longer? Ive been considering leaving mode one as limp mode for pottering in the lanes. I like the sound of auto regen. Will try this. Thanks as always.
Hi Jack, got your order thanks. It'll go in the post Monday. That's right, it goes as fast as the power will allow. It's good for saving a bit of energy without thinking about it. Hopefully you'll get your cable Tuesday. Let me know how you get on.
@@thecapacitator8137 Thank you thank you. Thats interesting, probably good for mode two for me, but I'd like to drop the speed on mode 1 as well so either or. I notice the auto ebs mode has an rpm setting, do you know what that would entail? Without the fancy bms I don't think I'd be able to see what settings produce the best results. Ideally for me, it would be a roll off the throttle is regen, without the brake lever being used. I read one of your replies saying someone in the comments has tried the auto mode, do you know if they had any luck? Thanks again.
@@JackBahh The rpm setting is the point at which the regen reduces for slow speed maneuvering. The guy who tried it said it felt good with standard rpm setting. Have a play around see how it feels.
On my bike the throttle map is so bad that I like to ride at full throttle, which means those max speed settings are very useful - also the fact that I can now adjust them. I also feel that on my bike the max power output is limited, because it feels more sluggish in modes 1 and 2. I'm eager to see for myself once the cable from Martin arrives.
watched other videos about this motorcycle, but none of them said anything about charging it at the electric car charger. Your intro shot was with the bike plugged into a car charger, how does it exactly work?
Just ordered a 2022/23 TC Max in Canada, and looking to purchase the cable. Just want to confirm that it works with all models of the TC Max, including the latest?
That's the exact same program that I have for my UGBEST Romex moped! I notice that Reverse mode is disabled. Is there no button for that on the Socos? That's one of the features I just love with mine.
Hi there, so finally I got around to messing with it to find out that the software is in... presumably it's Chinese that my pc can't display? Any idea what's up? It does seem to connect and COM3 shows up, but that's about it. I can identify which fields I wanna change but I'm afraid that saving it in that strange state might actually overwrite all the fields with unknown / empty values.
Great video, thanks for sharing. Is it possible to use your cable to increase the max amp while using factory battery, engine and controller? In other words I'm wondering if it's possible to push the limit a bit, to improve acceleration and maintain the speed better in some step hills
You could get more power but I wouldn't recommend it. It's already running at pretty much maximum specification. It might be possible to reduce current limiting at the bottom end but I'd rather not take the risk.
@@thecapacitator8137 what's the main bottleneck, engine, battery, controller? (trying to understand if I could get more by changing just one of those components)
Pretty much all of it. The BMS in the battery will give an over current error and cut out. The breaker switch may trip. If you increase the start up current too much the motor could burn out. Give it a go but don't say I didn't warn you. The start up current is set to 10 Amps standard and the controller allows values up to 280. Overall average current is set to 81 Amps standard and the maximum value allowed by the controller is 110 Amps. Maximum phase current is set to 280 Amps which is already the maximum the controller allows.
Silly question, But can the top speed be modified or increased power, I'm someone who weights about the 110kg mark and I imagine the bike would struggle a bit, ideally would like it to get to 100kmh as a minimum as i use the freeway/ motorway for work, Distance to work is short though at 10km
Did you notice any improvement in the range with regen on? I'm debating getting one of your cables. Also I wonder if all TC max come with the same configuration (both software and hardware) across the globe and many different local importers. Edit : ok I bought a cable. Any time estimate for delivery? Also, does the app you show in real time in the video work with a stock bike or do you need an aftermarket BMS?
Hi Raphael. Thanks for ordering a cable. I'm making another batch right now. I'll put one in the post for you tomorrow. Should take less than a week to get to you. I'm pretty sure all the TC Max's are the same but if you see any differences on yours I'd be interested to know. The app I'm using in the video is for the ANT BMS and isn't standard. I've upgraded my battery. Take a look at my previous video's if you're interested.
@@thecapacitator8137 Yeah, about the app, I figured after thinking about it a bit more. I'd even seen the link to the app in the woodniu listings but somehow didn't connect the dots... I'll be on the lookout for differences when I open up mine. What should I be looking for, especially regarding regen? I'll report back on the default config as well. Anyway, thanks for sharing the work you put into all this!
Hello, very interesting work thank you. You mention that you have upgraded your battery and the BMS. Does it means that this brake regenerating feature can only be activated with your diy cable if the battery has been modded and has an different BMS like you did ? In other words, can I buy your cable and activate this regenerating brake function on a brand new super soco tc max ? Thank you in advance
Hi. Ace to find out that regen brakes are possible. Where do I get the software please? I just bought one 2nd hand, so don't have anything that might have come with a new bike. Thanks
The SuperSoco TCMax originally had regenerative braking activated, but according to some comments, this damaged the batteries by not being able to handle that extra power well. Surely it will damage the connectors because they are not of good quality
Hi, great vids! Could you tell me please max speed after modification? I am 192 cm tall, 90kg so I afraid too big for this e-moto ... what is your hight and waight?
I read on a post on the Facebook group that if you enable regen the motor might develop play, what is your opinion on this? For me it makes no sense since braking would recover about 800w compared to 3-5 kw the motor normally outputs.
I know the charger only charges the battery at 10A, but is there a reason not to let it charge faster from the regenerative braking? The battery is drawing power at 5 kW so it should accept similar charging current - this won't be a battery limitation. At any rate, i've ordered a cable and will test it out - hopefully not fry the BMS.
Thanks for buying a cable. It will go in the post on Monday if you ordered yesterday . If you try putting too much current into the battery the BMS will throw an error and disconnect.
Hello! I have a question. There are two versions of their 72V bikes. The TC Max and the TC Pro. The pro version is 1000€ cheaper, it has the same motor, battery etc. but it is limited to 95kmh. Do you think it is possible to unlock it and make it as fast as the Max version with these mods? Thank you!
@@thecapacitator8137 In Canada, the TC Pro is limited to 70kph. So would it be possible to unlock the limiter? Also, how much to ship the cable to Canada? Your only options are GB, Europe, and Australia?
Bought your cable and received it - just need to make the modifications as of yet. Thanks a lot for your videos and the support, so much appreciated! :-D Maybe you could make a video on where it would be best to connect some additional electrical gear to the BMS? I think of a USB charger for the phone, an additional break light and maybe even additional head lights? Anyway, fantastic content on your channel which helped me a lot!
Thanks very much. I'm working on a video at the moment but I'll see what I can do. I think your idea might require a second DC-DC converter for extra lights. Do you think the USB charger should always be switched on? I think the standard DC-DC is only on when the bike is switched on.
@@thecapacitator8137 Hello! Thanks a lot for looking into it. I think it would be good enough to only power it when the bike is on. Otherwise people could use it unattended.
@@MrPansophy Thanks, that would make it easier as you could run it off the standard DC-DC converter. Adding lights will probably require an extra DC-DC converter to handle the extra power.
Hello, I have a question that I wanted to know if you could clarify. Today when driving the motorcycle I notice that when I accelerate slightly I feel a "kick" in the engine and the battery charging signal appears on the dashboard. I know that if I were to accelerate to the bike's maximum speed and switch to a lower mode and open the throttle (20%) I would get this regeneration effect. Now this happens to me anyway. In slow traffic I constantly feel this kick. What scares me most is that at higher speeds I feel a sharp engine braking (it almost feels like loose bearings). Were you aware of similar cases? thanks
New subscriber here. Great content. I apologize in advance for lack of mechanical knowledge, but if you could indulge a stupid question... I would imagine that when coasting, the belt drive stops moving, and the rear wheel is spinning freely. Upon braking, what causes the belt to re-engage, thereby transfering movement from the rear wheel to the electric motor, and facilitating regeneration? Thanks for yr patience! ;-)
@@thecapacitator8137 ahhhh, so the belt moves even when coasting. Must be some drag on yr momentum, in any case, so seems like a good idea to capitalise on that by engaging the regen option, as you did. Thanks for yr response! ;-)
Hello guys, I am new in the community, I would like to buy a super Soco ts1200R 2020 model 24Ah The guy in the store told me its goes max 45 can I modify it to goes faster?
Would it be possible to reprogam a super soco TC with this software? It runs at 45km/h now, I want it to run at 50-53km/h and accelerate faster. Also, how do you know the safe values you need to set?
🧐QUESTION 🧐 Hi! Sorry my english is really basic! I have a question about the speed programmation. In Canada, Super Soco Tc Max is lock to 70km/h... but if you consider the percentage of error, your real speed is 62km/h... can I modify the maximum speed in mode 3 with the cable for 80km/h to reach a real 70km/h... 🤓 thanks! 🙏
@@thecapacitator8137 Got the cable from Titimus and the serial port is the same and fits onto CPX the controller. Will attempt to enable and report back.
@@thecapacitator8137 Ok, i can't look at my bike, but i found some pics of the controller and a video, where a dealer does an update. At the 45 versions the controller is free at the front to get cold air. You have to remove 3 screws and pull it to the fork. Then there are the 5 thick cables to the hub motor, and the big connector with 18? cables... The dealer pull that big connector off, and use a version with USB. So it should be somehow similar to this here. The problem is, i have an older software on it, which can deactivate the speed limiter by a special start procedure. And activate by the same. Without tools or reprogramming. So there has to be another cable for that Controller out there.
Sounds like it's on a different connector to the TC Max. Sorry, my cable won't work with it. If I had a controller same as yours to work on I could possibly make a cable but I don't have one.
The Super Soco Vmoto VS1 model has a fox vector 3.0 controller.Maybe someone knows: it is possible this controller be programmed with the LBMC GUI V.4.0.0 software. I tried as shown in the topic Super Soco TC Max but I didn't succeed
Could you go over the changes you can make in the software for the bike? I'm wondering if you can increase the top speed from 95 km/h to say 100 km/h or more. Looks like you change the top speed and acceleration for each gear so you can have a slow acceleration top speed of say 60 km/h for city driving to save the battery. Cheers mate.
@@thecapacitator8137 Also do you mind sharing the seat length? I've tried searching the web. Seat needs to be a certain length to register as a 1 seater in my country.
How is it possible to activate regenerative braking if they specify that the TC MAX model does not have regenerative braking? Is it necessary to purchase and install any parts and wire the brakes?
Nice video and nice settings ! Did you find, in the software the settings that could correct or tune the autonomie range ? I've computed that my TC Max display about the double of the real kilometers left. (km, because I'm in France ;) )
So now I see that qs 138 50h motor is in tc max. If you want more power you need qs 138 70h. Just need to make custom brackets to mount motor on original frame mounts.

You could enable it in the controller but you'd have to find a way of adding a connection to it. The regen is already wired. Sorry I don't have a diagram.
I tried enabling the regen, however even though the software says the settings have been uploaded successfully, when looking again through the settings, they have reverted to the factory defaults. Do you know what could be the issue?

Have you try to increase the average current setting ? do you know the max power of the motor ? short and long term ? on more thanks for your great job ! Philippe.
Hi Philippe. I'm not sure why maximum current isn't the exact number set in the controller. I haven't played with those settings.
The specs of the motor say 4.1kw maximum so it's already running pretty hard. s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_DdV8zVL
Hey! Thanks for your video, didn't expect such fonction was available. I have a TC Max from 2019. Will your method works?
I think the controller is different. Have a look at your controller. Is the programming socket there?
Hello and thanks for your video. I ve got a question. why did you choose to program the EBS data instead of just activating EBS auto mode?
Thanks
I haven't tested auto mode.
watched other videos about this motorcycle, but none of them said anything about charging it at the electric car charger. Your intro shot was with the bike plugged into a car charger, how does it exactly work?
Check my video about type 2 plugs.
Just ordered a 2022/23 TC Max in Canada, and looking to purchase the cable. Just want to confirm that it works with all models of the TC Max, including the latest?
I've sent a couple to Canada so far. One guy got back to me saying he'd had no problem programming his bike.
That's the exact same program that I have for my UGBEST Romex moped! I notice that Reverse mode is disabled. Is there no button for that on the Socos? That's one of the features I just love with mine.
No there isn't a button on mine. I can see it being a handy feature.
G'day, excellent concise video. Excuse my ignorance but i have the standard TC, does this still apply?
Sorry I don't know about the TC.
Hi, yes I think it's in Chinese. The icon with the speech bubble in the top right corner changes language.
Will your cable and software work on the super soco tsx 2023 I am having trouble destricting it ?
Not without risking damage. You should probably look for a bigger bike.
Not sure what might be different. Maybe current or speed limit. I'd expect they are the same though.
@@kiIIer764 Yes, it works with the standard battery.
Do you still sell those cables ? Is it possible to enable reg. whenever you release shifter without actually using brakes ?
Hi.
Ace to find out that regen brakes are possible.
Where do I get the software please?
I just bought one 2nd hand, so don't have anything that might have come with a new bike.
Thanks
Follow the link in the description.
Amazing. Would it be possible to activate regenerative braking on the smaller tc model as well?
Not with that cable, sorry.
The SuperSoco TCMax originally had regenerative braking activated, but according to some comments, this damaged the batteries by not being able to handle that extra power well. Surely it will damage the connectors because they are not of good quality
I've spoken to them directly in China. They said it was due to high speed instability. I haven't noticed any instability. The connectors are fine.
Hi, great vids! Could you tell me please max speed after modification? I am 192 cm tall, 90kg so I afraid too big for this e-moto ... what is your hight and waight?
The mod doesn't make it faster. You'll be fine on it.
can regen brake also be activated for Super Soco CUX ? (60V, 30ah vespa type moped)
I read on a post on the Facebook group that if you enable regen the motor might develop play, what is your opinion on this? For me it makes no sense since braking would recover about 800w compared to 3-5 kw the motor normally outputs.
I agree with you.
Is it suitable for TC Max model 2023 and additionally does it have shipping to Colombia?
Yes to both questions
I know the charger only charges the battery at 10A, but is there a reason not to let it charge faster from the regenerative braking? The battery is drawing power at 5 kW so it should accept similar charging current - this won't be a battery limitation.
At any rate, i've ordered a cable and will test it out - hopefully not fry the BMS.
Thanks for buying a cable. It will go in the post on Monday if you ordered yesterday .
If you try putting too much current into the battery the BMS will throw an error and disconnect.
Hello😉 i have cpx 2023 model, does cable fits ? What kind of software you use ?
I can't get it working with the cpx, sorry.
@@thecapacitator8137 thank you...
Would this work on the super soco tc wanderer??
Probably not. I think it's a different controller on the wanderer.
Thank you!
95kph is the same as the TC Max.
@@thecapacitator8137 In Canada, the TC Pro is limited to 70kph. So would it be possible to unlock the limiter? Also, how much to ship the cable to Canada? Your only options are GB, Europe, and Australia?
If it's got the same controller it should work. I'll have a look at shipping cost and add Canada to the menu.
I've added Canada.
Great job! What"s the software? Link?
Thanks! Links on my website. Link to that in the description.
This is so cool! Thank you!
Bought your cable and received it - just need to make the modifications as of yet. Thanks a lot for your videos and the support, so much appreciated! :-D
Maybe you could make a video on where it would be best to connect some additional electrical gear to the BMS?
Do you know if the regenerative braking works on the TC Wanderer aswell? I can't seem to find anything about that...
Sorry I don't know about the wanderer.
I'm considering buying a TC Max, for around 3k (ex display model) Do you think it's good as a starter bike instead of a petrol equivalent?
Yeah if the specifications suit your needs.
If you commute around town it's perfect, anything out of town it is not really suitable.

Yes you should set those too.

Were you aware of similar cases? thanks
I disconnected the bike from the battery and turned it back on. apparently returned to normal. it was very strange.
Thanks for yr patience! ;-)
The back wheel is permanently connected to the motor.
@@thecapacitator8137 ahhhh, so the belt moves even when coasting. Must be some drag on yr momentum, in any case, so seems like a good idea to capitalise on that by engaging the regen option, as you did. Thanks for yr response! ;-)
Is that available for cpx model? I expected all the super soco bikes going under the same software at the end. Could u confirm?

Hi! 🤓

Does this work for the smaller TC 45, too?
I want to activate the regen brake and shut off the traction control if possible.
Probably not without modification. Does it have the same programming socket?

Could you go over the changes you can make in the software for the bike? I'm wondering if you can increase the top speed from 95 km/h to say 100 km/h or more.
