Just bought a 98 keep XJ 4.0 for 2,000$ off an older feller. It has 190,000 miles but was garage kept for 17 years. Almost no rust at all, frame has 0 rust. The rear driver side fender flare is missing, but other than that it’s solid. The interior is great too, but the fabric on the ceiling will need ripped off
Great video. That one was in pretty nice condition for its age at the time so it’s a great example to compare mine to to check for anything that may be changed/gone and it also helped me see what it’s supposed to sound like since mine has the cracked exhaust manifold and it developed a belt noise on me.
@@maveys_Wrld I ended up replacing my manifold, belt’s still bad but that could just be the belt itself bc it didn’t do it til a coolant flush but I’ve cleaned everything since then. Word of advice on the exhaust manifold, have a decent combination of extensions/sockets and buy/use an 8mm square socket and crack the coolant drain plug open while it’s easy to get to (if you think it’s worth the risk people talk about with potential leaks, they might have just not retefloned it). I only had one of those taken care of and to give you a hint my square socket’s still new on standby.
Sharp looking jeep, I just bought a 1999 Solid black Jeep XJ yesterday Identical to yours but mine has leather seats. Damn thing runs like a champ. Thanks for posting. 👍
These are pretty simple and straightforward cars. Usually wires in doors break and windows and power locks stop working. Master switch can also go bad, very common. You can get replacement on ebay for about $21.
Yeah I probably should when it has its little hissy fits the back window motor turns on but the window doesn't go down and it just a mess and sometimes it'll start unlocking itself and it'll just go insane
@@ls66 lol ok thanks. I’m considering getting one of these as my work car and putting the wife in something new. I see them low mileage for 6 or 7 grand and to me that is a good deal. Do you have one? How does it drive/handle for the most part? Is the acceleration good enough? I do NYC driving and need to accelerate quick enough for lane changes!
@@danski6694 I do have one its my fourth and I have friends that drive them as well. I'm restoring mine as we speak. They are a solid truck and a good investment.

would you say they are reliable cars?
@@thespaniard977 yes, I think they are reliable, of course, with preventive maintenance.

She's beautiful. I'm actually looking for a cherokee and grand cherokee
Just remember the 4.0 straight 6 is a bullet proof engine,,easy to work on also ! My 98 was 13 years old with NO RUST and 180k miles on it !
I miss my 91 so bad
Very nice Jeep. I hope to get one for a 2nd vehicle. 😀

Wouldnt still have this one by chance?
This one is long sold....
No 4x4
@Carolus Magnus Agreed. To see only 59k, I would of been so excited and then extremely let down.
Can still do some light offroading due to suspension, clearance and gearing. Probably better than a 2WD fullsize pickup off road.

What is the top speed of this Jeep??
