What could be seen as "Lot of moving pieces but not convoluted" Could also be called, lots of good ideas that end up puddle deep.
It had bigotry, that isn't really a factor beyond the first episode.
It has a cult, that's just a straight forward lying is wrong with a villain who feels evil to be evil.
It has societal differences, that aren't really supposed to be taken seriously.
Maybe I'm a little spoiled by Beastars, not every anime needs to have depth, it can focus on just being fun with good animation.
But it feels like when you throw out these concepts and ideas, you'd probably be better off taking one and making a more meaningful story with it rather than hitting every branch and missing the tree.
Video's 2 months old and nobody is gonna see this. But damn I needed somewhere to write out frustrations.

The only things I could say I liked about it were the color pallets and some of the lesser characters.
The writing was really bugging me since episode one. People just did things that didn't make sense; punks hiding in the woods to beat up beastmen.
Did they ever actually explain in the show WHY the humans kept mistreating the beastmen? Wouldn't some argue that the beastmen deserve it if they're really that prone to violent rampages? Why was everyone hiding in the shadows when Tanuki girl first got to town before they showed back up for the festival? What was up with setting up this plot point where she teaches children to read, then the kids get sold into slavery anyway, and did anything ever become of that or was it just a really convoluted way to teach you that beastmen also had slavery? What's the show trying to tell us?
How did the humans at the party end up being totally oblivious to the fact that the dolphin girl was drowning, and how come they just walked away as if the humans did it to hurt her intentionally when in reality they just didn't know better?
I couldn't get past episode 6. It was so boring and DISengaging for me. It was too hard to enjoy, I just kept asking more and more questions and the story shifts from episode to episode were jarring. That, and the plot twists weren't exactly hard to see coming from a mile away... I dunno, you do you, but that's my review of the show. 4/10, terrible writing.

It tackled alot of fluid animation, good directional pattern, the build up feels rewarded.. not everything is obvious and most important is the race issue which was handled really well since it also gives a what if factor and a realistic approach and answer to such topics. 5:18 That's not done for budget constraints, it's intentionally built-in from the start for comedic effect. If you watch the documentary on the making of KLK, they even redid some shots that were too "good" so that they could be more simple and comedic. Also recall that any KLK episode has 10x more of the "high-budget" animation than most other anime.
I could explain the full history and thought-process of the "low-budget" anim but it'd be explaining a joke.

I personally can't say it's my favorite of the season, but it's definitely sold its premise to me at a high price, and I wanna get my attention's worth, if you'll excuse the analogy.

I honestly it can surpass Beastars in terms of appeal due to its art style. I enjoyed the show a lot and the animation and animation style and color palate are very unique and soothing and are better than most anime in those regards. If they made a season two I would wish that there would be more character development with (best girl) sometimes it felt that they just ended an episode to end it. I would say some episodes are masterpieces because the characters are beautifully written and then animation it’s self is already good so some episodes for me were 10/10 or sometimes 12/10 but other episodes were lack luster in my opinion. I’ve pretty much just completed binge watching the season, and I absolutely love this anime series. The art style is somewhat simple yet gorgeous, the story is intriguing and seems to show off elements of the real world either good or bad such as nobody being perfect, corruption & crime, bigotry etc. And also how it also seems to have the underlying message about equality & being proud of who you are, (for example no matter your gender, sexuality), race, religion etc Although in this it’s portrayed as a bit of a metaphor of this through being either a human or beastman or like Michiru herself a combination of both worlds. While also the characters are rather unique and somewhat relatable.

One thing I noticed with this was how predictable the plot was, but not in a bad way (at least on my end) (also spoilers) and how there's one thing still really confusing me.
Like it was obvious that Shirou was the silver wolf from the very moment we hear about it, and yet the reveal still had me hyped. The only thing I was caught off guard with was the head of Sylvasta being a beastman, which I loved.
What confuses me is that Sylvasta developed and used a drug on that one dude to make him undergo Nervasil, they _made_ a drug... that causes Nervasil. But later on everyone's like "oh noo all Beastman actually have this syndrome which can be triggered" which confuses me since it would've been recorded in history, you'd think. I still think that Sylvasta made have developed the syndrome and pretended it was a real thing while somehow sneaking the drug into common medicines or a water supply (which would account for the "purebred" Sylvasta getting it too). Of course them forcing nervasil syndrome may have just been foreshadowing to them creating the cure based on _being in_ such a state, but I just find it hard to believe that beastmen lived for centuries without being like "wow when we get really angry or distraught we sort of go haywire wowie"

    • @hunterseekr
      @hunterseekr 4 года назад

What I gathered on this subject was that historically, beastmen kept to small, isolated communities of like-specied groups, either in hiding or infiltrated among humans, and it was mostly only until recently, when humanity expanded so far into the wilds and with better tech, that the existence of beastmen became widely known (also why there's so much bigotry and lack of understanding between the races). The ancient city of Nervasil was supposedly the first and only (until Anima) time that beastmen of varying races and larger numbers came together. And while at first it seemed that the first guy who transformed might've been drugged, I don't remember seeing anything about that afterwords. Supposedly, it was something that can happen when beastmen communities get overcrowded, and their health is impacted by it (and stress-induced health issues from living in an overcrowded space is actually a thing in real-life animals [including humans], with brains being constantly flooded with stress-produced neurochemicals), which is why the syndrome is named after the first city after its fall. A gathering of sufficient numbers hadn't been attempted again until recently, and that factor is what made the syndrome unknown and unreproducible until now. Also, I think Alan's claim of "us elite pure-bred beastmen can't get Nervasil syndrome" was more out of arrogance and lack of exposure than from fact.

My largest complaint is that with the mystery, we are often given all the pieces to a puzzle and the time to put them together long before any of the other characters even know there ia a mystery at all. Which leads to all of the twists being painfully predictable simply because the foreshadowing came to early and to thick

  • @crispysquidoftheacidcats295
    @crispysquidoftheacidcats295 4 года назад

All of this but the thing I like is the way they transform without showing it. Like once it's established that they prefer to have humanoid forms in anima city, them cutting from being animal to beastmen is so quick you don't need a sailor moon-esque transformation sequence you just know who is who and who is what. The only ones who get that sequence are Michiru and Nazuna.
    Spoilers:
    I warned you.
And wolf dad, sylvasta and the creepy cult leader.

  • @klxroly1

It isn't. As soon as the beastmen can transform into humans, it ruined it for me. Cause if they stayed beastmen it would make a lot more sense for the story to have humans and beastmen separated from each other. But no, they can transform into humans and I don't know, blend into the human world? It seriously ruined the whole ordeal about beastmen never fitting in the human world.

I love the Animation style of Kill la Kill i think its a little bit underated and most of the time the shortcuts they use are mostly for comedy effects and they are extremly ok for me if the need to do because of budget or time. I know not everyone likes this style but i think its incredible because it combines a old cartoony effekt to everything and as someone who really likes these really overstretched movements in old Animations, i like to see something similar like that in modern day Animation whether cartoon or anime.
I really need to watch this series.

I absolutely loved BNA. It did kinda shove some minor plot bits quickly but I didn't mind the fast pace too much. I've seen a lot of cliches so I got the message just fine.
It's a shame the show was only so long as I really want to see more done with the world built here and I'd have been happy to see some filler just to soak it in more.
Perhaps I enjoyed it more as a favorite fighting game series of mine Bloody Roar has similar concepts but not so much story. Great games though wish it could come back.
I was on the edge of my seat expecting disappointment at the end but it delivered wonderfully. Flaws were handled well I thought. I hope to see more BNA somehow one day.

My opinion on the show is
[SPOILERS INBOUND, Skip to Paragraph 2 if you don't wanna see.]
that the ending is rushed. I feel like it didn't really fit the theme of the show, and the whole "Pureblood" thing was just shoved in to artificially create a big finale that could've competed with Shiro's OP powers. It's really good, and I'd watch it again, but the ending just leaves a bit of a sour taste in my mouth.
All in all though, still pretty damn good. Trigger's animation is always Top-Notch, and the characters are memorable, charming, and interesting. I could pick out the "Human" forms of every character and tell you what animal they're supposed to turn into, and their personalities and goals, even though I barely remember some of their names. If there's a Season Two in the works with the potential to knock out the issues I have with it, I'd be hyped for it.

I feel like this is trying to be like Kill la Kill with the quick moments and humor. There are a lot of moments where something get brought up like its already been established since episode 1 even tho its the first we hear of it. I really am not a fan of the main character finding trouble and getting saved trope. I get that it would be boring without something happening but ever episode she finds the main plot. The whole Shirou being hinted at as the wolf god is cool and all but its just basic. I don't like how theres no relation other than: MC goes and finds trouble. SC comes and saves her. They then learn about what happened. The whole nose thing is also kinda weird. His nose is so good that it can smell the past. Cool....why? Cause he's the god or what? I just feel like this is rushing to some point and then coming to sudden stop so the main character can get involved with the plot.

In the second episode the wolf saves her and her response is to scream SJW shit like all men are the same, even though the plot of the episode was literally a bunch of women selling kids as slaves and the only dude in the episode was the one who saved them lmao. She is a stupid and entitled teen, which imo makes for the worst kind of main characters. It's rly hard to watch, I dunno if I can.

The Weasel who saves her only to ask for all her money isn't really a good interaction either. The first negative interaction once in the city is the bombs and guns for hire beastmen who would sell their own kind for some money. Both gender of beastmen are skummy. Humans aren't angels either. What we learn is that no one is perfect. We see that she is on the receiving end of the beastpeople racism. As a human she didnt need to care. Now she does. In all honestly I do like this anime and might give it another watch sometime, however i do not think it's the greatest nor the worst of Trigger's library. Personally I did feel like some plot lines were left open or too rushed in order to fit the 12 episode run and I think this really could have benefitted from a 24 episode run in order to get more character development and plot development. Overall not a bad series but not the greatest, a fun romp in an animal society. However the music was damn good.

I quit in episode 2, or whichever the orphanage one was, maybe it was 3, that one tipped the scale of "I've seen these story beats and expressions way too many times" and I just stopped.
That indignant screaming, you know, search 'anime gibberish' on youtube to see what I mean (great video by the way), the stupid phoned in drama about how unfair it is for women and stuff like, my beef with that is not about women but the handwaved drama, they pulled that out of their rears, animals are great at raising children despite living in completely awful conditions, and more of them thrive than get endangered.
