I'm trying to grow mine out. I have trimmed it once with scissors like this but longer mustaches get in the way of smooching, which is a big downside, lol. That may be more on the TMI side, but its a real thing and something I try to be considerate of for my wife. I do like how much fuller it makes everything look overall tho. Thanks on another great video Dan!

This came at the perfect time! I just trimmed my moustache after buying some moustache scissors. I am about 4 months in, roughly. I miss having a full, thick, moustache however as you say balancing practicality with the look of a big moustache is key. As always fantastic video!!!! Ah man keep up the amazing work!

Very good brother! I needed that demonstration. Simple, easy and effective. The advice to just stop if it gets sideways and to let the process take time: it’s great to remember not to rush it; and that if you slip up, it’s not a big deal…it’ll grow back!
This method is so much better than what my hairstylist wife does: just a straight trim across the top lip:(. Your method of feeling and finding the length and how it lays is much better!!
Thank you Sir!! Another great tutorial for us Beardos!!🙏

  • @jtsteve

Great tutorial!!! I like how you just get right in there with confidence. Just did mine three days ago. Was trying to let it grow for a couple months but I eat out all the time and was driving me crazy. I just did under my nose, my handlebars are a bit longer but the stash is always a bit of a battle. I’m as pleased with it as it gets for the time. Thanks as always Dan🍻🍻🍻

Always great information. The mustache is the crowning glory of the beard. It is always most difficult to do the middle of the mustache for those who have a strong center. You nailed it so well. And the ends of mine always seem to grow differently from one side to the other. Again, you nailed it. And it fits so well with your kickass beard. Thanks again.

That sea moisture you get on the coasts is different from ambient humidity. That is why I over straighten and let it bounce back. Writing from Vegas right now, and the lack of humidity has my beard stick straight with just blow dryer. Your mustache doubled in density in Maine 😮

Funny that you posted this video right after I did a slight clean up on my mustache, and went through doing a split end check and trim. I try not to trim the mustache much, but when it becomes unmanageable every day, it's trim for a clean up.
Dang I didn't expect that much to come off.
I don't have to trim that little ^ in because my natural growth pattern has that.
    Thanks Dan!

"Perfect" I think a lot of folks may need context on that word, it is the perfect trim for you, and you'll share why you feel that way. I then have the choice to listen to your opinions, weigh them against my own, and decide if there is something I can take from the video.
The notification for this video popped up while I was getting ready, I was brushing my teeth, and I had to chuckle about all the backlash you received for that video. You shared some good info and insights, along with your opinions, but I still brush my teeth the way I did before the video. Mostly because I have to take advantage of opportunities to shower based on when I can with the dog, and I don't think about brushing first, more than dis-agreeing with your premise...
I digress, back to the topic... I personally haven't trimmed the center of my mustache since August 2021 (aside from a few rogue hairs), but as you mentioned there are A LOT of negatives that come along with doing that...
I feel like I've finally figured out the heat routine to achieve the curly look, but recently I've been trying to blend the ends down into the beard like you described... I too have to fight the weird dips and curls, and I find I unintentionally accentuate the curl out of habit... lol
My goal right now is to find a look with less wax a more natural look, I call it the Farrah flip, like the girls in the 70's when I was growing up. The hairs under the nose flow down then swoop to the side, with the ends blending into the beard.
Just like the other looks, it requires dialing in the heat routine, I feel like I learn something new daily... Someday I'll figure this thing out... lol
But here I am watching this video, even though I have no intention currently of trimming my mustache, but I feel like the more information and opinions I absorb, the better I can decide what is "Perfect" for me...
Thanks Dan for showing what is "Perfect" for you at this juncture in you life... 😎

I'm currently at 8-9" hoping for 12" by end of year, want to do a straight down beard, with good mustache but the hair on my upper lip isn't has thick as yours so trying to figure out how to do a styled mustache w/ the large beard, any help would be grateful!

Which way of rotating beard oil would be better? Going in order a different one every day rotating that, for example if i have 7 oils and go Monday to Sunday with each assigned to it's day, or, using an oil for a week or so and then the next? Which way would i benefit from the oils properties better?
