This could have been the national championship game in 1990....However the Oklahoma Sooners fell short to the North Carolina Tarheels in the second round in Austin Texas
One of the best OU teams of all time but forgotten because of that disaster against UNC and the fact that McCovery, Jones, and Patterson couldn't stay eligible the next year. Not only did they have this win but they had blowout wins against two #1 teams (Kansas and Missouri) in a three day stretch.
I was at both the Mizzou and Kansas games. Those were two of the best sporting events I ever attended and basketball is not even my favorite sport but those games and crowds were awesome. I couldn't even hear the guy next to me when we tried to talk. We gave up.
UNLV and Oklahoma had some great games! Do you have the one from Las Vegas? Do you have anymore 1980’s Oklahoma that decade was the best for Oklahoma basketball.. Thanks
I believe the NCAA had our starting center suspended for the Kansas game. Billy Tubbs always knew how to play Tark's UNLV teams but naw, we wouldn't finish 3rd best in any conference that year. *my bad looks like it was this game that our starting center was suspended.
This game was played with more intensity then you will see in NBA games today.

OU needed a few more defensive stops and could have had a great tourney run
UNLV lost to Kansas that year too. They were national champs but may have only been the 3rd best team in the big8 based on those results.

@@joet7136 Ya also lost to Oklahoma the year before. True, Tubbs did own Tark.
the year before we did not have LJ, that was not the championship UNLV team, so you are being a little misleading. @@rawn4203
