  • A highlight from the stream on 5/18/2020. A viewer comments on dash blocking so I show how to do it and why its important for your game. Another viewer also asked about blocking lows and whether or not it is considered risky. Both important topics for Intermediate or Advanced TEKKEN players so I decided to talk it through during the matches. -- Watch live at / tk_anakin

      Marcus Dobson Every pro dash blocks, if it’s just now coming to your attention in 2019-2020 then I don’t think YOU knew about it but the a lot of players have known about it for a very long time and it’s a fundamental thing. Not fake news :) try dash blocking its f,f~b really helps create hesitation in your opponent when they see you dash bc they don’t wanna get whiff punished or punished in general just how dragonuvs wr2 creates hesitation the moment you see him dash

      Yeah people say it's way better than pad once you get used to it and practice directional inputs for months.

    • @Kenlac92
      @Kenlac92 4 года назад +12

      @@digestedbiscuitps4841 i dont agree. There are drawbacks.
      IMO, pad offers greater mobility due to inputs being much smaller movements. A button press vs wrist flick. I certainly do DP and half/quarter cf movements faster with my thumb then my wrist. Having gotten used to it now a year later, my movement is not terrible at all and getting better. In particular, sidestepping is tricky. KBD and wavedashing are easy to commit to muscle memory if you start iff slow enough, but side stepping is almost the opposite becauae it has to be done quickly. So i have to warm up doing side steps before i play or i end up neutral jumping and getting floated. The way i practice is i just rep out punishing a steppable string by any character that has one, for roughly 5 minutes
      The clear advantage over pad, is the 8 button layout. Being helpful for combos and reaction timing of punishers. Its four fingers ready to attack vs just my thunb on four face buttons of a pad, and then whatever my shoulder buttons are set to. A simple solution for pad players is to use a claw grip. Mapping controls is important on stick. So theres kind of a learning curve there. Whereas pad players typically have throws set to go the triggers, on stick its arguably better to map 1+4 and 2+3, as well as 1+2 and 3+4. and then learn to input buffer your basic throws.
      Pad is faster, smoother. Stick is rewarding over time and feels really nice to play with. It deoends entirely on what you care about. Neither is better overall, but both are better in some ways.
      Hitbox has the best of both worlds, but thats when you start to get a little unnecessary IMO. Thanks for coming to my TED talk. ❤

    • @BronsonN88

      @@digestedbiscuitps4841 its personal preference. Each have their own strengths and weaknesses

    • @Section8dc
      @Section8dc 4 года назад +1

      @@Kenlac92 I switched from korean stick to Hitbox, it is definitely the best way to play overall imo. It has it's own set of problems, a little unnecessary is definitely not a fair description of it lol. That implies that you have some huge advantage. You ever tried playing Mishimas on the 2P side on Hitbox? Or do Giant Swing consistently? They all have there own problems but I've played on all controllers and it's the most efficient pain free method of play imo. I find some things to do easier on stick like circle motions and anything involving Mishimas is WAY easier on stick if you are on 2P side.

    • @SalvadorSTMZ
      @SalvadorSTMZ 4 года назад

      @@Section8dc as a keyboard player it's great but requires the most execution. Stick movement requires your wrist. Pad movement requires your left thumb. Keyboard movement requires 3 fingers and sometimes more for cheese methods.
