The HX stomp is worth every penny. That's a huge sounding crunch. It sags perfectly. Also, it sounds way better than me using a Model Fet into a power amp..I don't even come close to that without turning the volume to 7 or 8. Even then its not as good as what you are using.

Yeah, the model fet was a pretty disappointing purchase. I sold it and grabbed a kuro 120 and it's much better to my ear

Now you show this off after I have spent hundreds if not over a grand or so in pedals, including preamp pedals. Sounded really good. The only problem I see with these types of pedal processers is that I won't be able to get any cool boutique pedal programmed in it. I would just use it for recording or headphone playing, but I like waking the dead and the neighbors, so I prefer my amp.
I like to use it for day to day practice and songwriting. Saves the tubes
preamp shapes tone... poweramp overdriving the transformers beyond their VA rating and the speaker voice coils slightly outside their Xmax shapes the doom.
for example a completely clean preamp into a cranked peavey poweramp into a rattling pair of 12" speakers can inexplicably feel like a total doom tone without any preamp tone shaping. but the *doom* will be there. whereas a pharaoh fuzz into a class D amp at low volumes will sound tame, compared. when recorded and played back at the same volumes, the difference will be well audible.

That sounded killer! You nailed some great tones there. I have never dabbled with IRs and such, but I am interested in learning how to set them up, what hardware/software are good to use on a budget. Then how to dial them in. Side note, that spellcraft trackers really good.

The "secret sauce" to any amp modelling tone is the use of a real od pedal. Don't know what it is about Line 6 and the rest of them, but there's just something about using a real od pedal that gives your sim tone that extra whatever it is that using a real od pedal imparts.

@@TheDistortionPrinciple the life pedal sounds good but i used to have a model T and it doesnt do that. Even a life pedal into a ModelFet doesn't do it.. An acapulco gold into the model fet with the fet cranked is the closest I've come. I want to try that ok doomer pedal next, the demos of that sound really good.
