The "steel" of the instrument actually refers to the material used for the tone bar which makes the notes, as opposed to the player's fingers of a conventional guitar! It has never had anything to do with the instrument itself. But glad you enjoy the music Michael!!
Yes it is an incredible National Hawaiian Tricone made of German Silver, that is a form of white brass and plated with nickel . Sol Hoopii was a Genius . Aloha
