    You are very concrete, practical and right forward. And also had the freedom of not attaching to any specific method which I find very very useful. Thank you so much for sharing!

    I was actually studying mostly leg anatomy for the last week or so and for me it was hard at first to connect all this knowledge to an actual drawing that is not extremely muscular or a skin and fatless figure. I think the approach you are showing here which is kind of loomis like probably works best. Start with sort of a frame, like a mannequin, get proportions and pose right and then put it together using the anatomical knowledge. Obviously it‘s still very hard. Sometimes it even feels like working through the musculature is not even worth it, but I am pretty sure in the end it is very much worth it and only then you can really appreciate and study works of sophisticated artists. Thanks again for another video! :)

    This is super helpful! We studied a lot of muscle anatomy in high school art class but not so much where bones live, so my figures are always missing those little notches and dips that really make things pop. Going to see if you have a video on perspective and limbs - I always struggle with foreshortening and someone sitting, e.g. thank you!!

      I’ll try to do something on perspective and foreshortening of limbs!

    Watched till the end. Great stuff. It's very valuable to me coz I am studying human torso. Btw, Mr. Tim can you do a demo about movements/flexibility of torso, like how to bend, where to bend it, and usual mistakes. It will be a very very valuable lesson, since there are less contents on you tube about that topic. Peace.

    Hi Codex.. great talk about, when I got more serious about art work, I bought a lot of art instructional books, got rid of them all except my Loomis books, overall I think they're the best for beginning to advanced artist. Bye'eeee 🚴🚴🚴🚴🚴🚴🚴🚴🚴

    Thanks for the video, Tim.
    I have a question regarding a different art topic: You've been mostly focused on drawing, flat coloring and texturing on your channel, but you have also produced some digitally painted pieces, where I've really liked your brush work. My favorite art piece of yours is still the young warrior approaching an old wizard, who is sitting in front of a dragon, because it has such nice textured brush work. Do you have any advice on how I can practice brush work? Everything I do looks as if I've painted it with colored pencils. There is no life in it. No personality.

    i really dislike Burne Hogarth Dynamic Anatomy book, its says dinamic but all the muscles are stressed, and its not how muscles work in real life. i prefer hampton although is more intro to anatomy and more figure drawing.

    In Part 2 of your Illustration Mini Workshop, you mentioned the third mistake you made was deifying other more skilled artists.
    Is that a mistake because it implies that the status of 'art god' isn't attainable?

    • @TheDrawingCodex
      @TheDrawingCodex  Год назад +3

      Yeah I think so... I feel that viewing the world that way held me back a lot. I think it was focusing more on an end goal rather than the process that is involved in getting there. I also never actually met many art gods in the flesh... they were normally very humble and it was clear they struggled with the same art frustrations and constant challenges that everyone else did. I think in the end we are all on the same journey and no matter how far we get, our experience on the road is very similar.
