Supposedly "original gangster”, can be seen as “old generation", personally viewed as “old-school”.🤓
I became an avid Korean music aka Kpop listener/lover since 1998. Korean and rap music were my coping mechanisms from the bullying I experienced in middle school through high school and my love for the genre has stuck by me ever since.
Unfortunately, I took a huge break from Korean music around 2015 when I was officially diagnosed with lupus nephritis and seizures; I was receiving and battling years of chemotherapy and dialysis along with taking 32 pills a day, so I had no mental/emotional/spiritual room to keep myself updated with the genre. Luckily, I'm in remission now! Doesn't mean that lupus and seizures are gone because I am still very capable of frequent flare-ups of I don't take care of myself, but I make sure to do so enough to manage and live as "normally" as possible.
When I made this RUclips name, I was thinking from my graphic-design-major perspective of a brand that will not only describe what my content will be about but will also align with the times, and y’all know that “Kpop stans” have been a thang for awhile now so hence the cringe-worthy title, OG KPOP STAN. (My love for Eminem is also relevant.😂) ALSO! Just to be SUPER clear- me calling myself an "OG kpop stan" does NOT mean that anyone who's listened to kpop after me is inferior or less-than. A kpop lifestyle is a kpop lifestyle regardless of time. Please don’t get that sh*t twisted.😛

Yuqi is so underrated, but im glad she's getting more recognition now
she's one of the popular member of idle and her fanbase is really strong
I think Shuhua is the most underrated member of idle. She barely gets any lines, barely does any center work for the choreography, and doesn’t get much promotion individually

I don't know if it's what they were actually going for, but I definitely got the same vibe of Bonnie & Clyde being more of a self-love track. I'm obsessed with the song, and the MV is great! It's awesome to see Yuqi crushing it as a solo artist
I had a similar interpretation. Check out her other single, “Giant”. It’s got a more meaningful, self-empowerment rock vibe.
The "cause you're the ride or die the rest of my life" really hits
For future reference, Yuqi is pronounced more like "oo-gee" in Korean.
I think you would love Giant, the other title track Yuqi released alongside this one. It only has an animated m/v, but the lyrics (written by Yuqi) are powerful, and her deep voice shines.

This song gave me the vibes of a straight off 80s pop song, something that Bonnie Tyler would release at the time but with a more modern production style (it especially reminds me of "Holding out for a Hero" for some reason haha), and I loved that because this style really fits her vocals
I don't have a bias in (G)I-dle, but Yuqi has one of favorite voices from any genre. I love everything about her, and she killed her solo tracks.
either one “g idle” or “idle” is fine lol. some people say that “idle” is the correct pronunciation, but when the girls introduce themselves they say “hi everyone we are G idle”. so you can say “g idle” and that would still be correct 😁

Here is my take on the MV.
Yuqi just got fired from her job. She bringing a box of her office supplies home with her. And she fixes herself some drink watching the TV feeling depressed. And sees this news about some diamond theft, and imagine herself living on the wild side of life. And then she snaps out of it. She goes look at herself in the mirror, and she wonders, what if.... The story goes that its not about the money or diamonds, its about the thrills and excitement of chasing your dreams, that's why she playing chess with a bomb timer, symbolizing taking a risk in life, but carefully placing the chess pieces planning what she want to do next to reach her goal. And her risk payed off with a checkmate! And then Yuqi went out the door and leaves us wonder if she really is her own Bonnie and Clyde after all, chasing and going after what she really wants from life.
PS: On a side note, ever since Yuqi went to China, she dropped her cute image and went full DIVA on us, isn't that what she represents in this Music Video? She took a risk of changing her image from cute to cool, not knowing if her fans will like it, but it's always what she wanted for herself to goto a next level in her career and show everybody what she is capable of. So this song can be interpreted as self empowerment.
I was so excited for her solo she is my bias! When she and Minnie harmonize together I die!!! 😍😍😍 you should check out them singing scared to be lonely! Goosebumps!!!!
I can soooo see this osng as a movie track, it's so pumped up and so dramatic and theatrical! And her voice is so deep, I love it.
This is one my favorite K-pop songs ever and I will say even in general, not only K-pop. It's such a bop and Yuqi's voice is so pleasant to the ears... her range is huge and has such an unique voice tone

Yuqi is my bias but I was surprised she got some solo songs because I didn't think she was a popular member. But both her songs are great. I love Bonnie & Clyde so much.
In the twelve years of listening to K-POP, I've had only two singers I would call bias', Yuna from AOA, and YUQI from YUQI AND FRIENDS. (ALSO know as (G)IDLE). LOL!!!

It always blows my mind when someone (especially fans, who should already know this) says something about the "G" being silent. I know where it came from and why people keep spamming it, but they're wrong. It came from members introducing themselves as "IDLE" in Korea, when talking in Korean on Korean shows and interviews. Whenever they have an English interview though, they introduce themselves as (G)I-DLE, and both forms are correct, they are just used in different situations. I mean, the group's name is literally (G)I-DLE and it's the official name, they just don't pronounce it this way in Korean. I hope it'll now be clear for you, and other fans who keep confusing people with this whole "G is silent" thing.
Yes and no, their name is said as IDLE because Soyeon has said that when questioned about their name. She was amazed because nobody ever bothers to ask and she then told the guy that their name is indeed pronounced as IDLE. They say (G)I-DLE in English interviews to make it less confusing, much like how many foreigners use an English name. I don’t think they should have to change their pronunciation of any words (or names) just because it’s harder for English speaking people. When it takes just a few seconds to make a mental note about how to say it correctly. So as a fan of them you should just correct someone politely because that’s simply what they prefer.
@@lonewolfgirl20 I am talking about people teaching other people how to pronounce the name, which is wrong and confusing, and i literally said that there's no one correct way to do so with my initial comment, that was the whole point. So as you said - yes and no, but people shouldn't confuse others with "the G is silent", even if they prefer it :) If it wasn't a thing, (G)I-DLE would be IDLE, and there would be no "(G)I-DLE, because it's easier to spell for foreigners" situation. It's simple. I think you went kinda too in-depth with that "changing names" thing, it's not that deep. The group's name is (G)I-DLE, they pronounce it differently in Korea. End of topic.
Everything you said i know, i wanted to clarify the name confusion that became a thing with this group. Now she knows that she can pronounce it with a "G", and it's just as correct. The fact that she is questioning herself (like many other reactors) if she should spell it with G or without is actually a perfect example of how people confuse other people with this, while it is simple.
I am polite, i just don't like when people think they know something and try to teach others, when they don't.

I used the name example because so many people (especially English speaking people) don’t understand the struggle of having to listen to your name or the name of something you care about being mispronunciation over and over again. Which often leads to the point that many give up or just say it a way that English people prefer because they are tired of trying to have it said correctly.
So no they don’t just pronounce it “differently in Korea” they say it correctly in Korea because they are a Korean band with a Korean based name. Look at how they spell (G)I-DLE in Hangul then get back to me on how you should say it correctly when sounding it out with Korean syllables.
Their name is just like any other word with a silent letter, so to say it correctly you just don’t say the silent letter. It’s okay to be confused about it in the beginning and accidentally say it the wrong way but after someone has told you how it should be properly pronounced then you should say it the way they prefer. End of topic.

They spell it (G)I-DLE for foreigners, and they spell it differently in Korea for Koreans .Of course they're a Korean band with a Korean name, it's self-explanatory, but both forms are correct. If they weren't, they wouldn't spell it differently for foreigners. End of topic.
