So good to see that you got through it! It sounds just horrible! I'm watching you from my bed sick with c-19 and I no longer feel like drinking my water... Wishing you all the best for your second half of the trail! I loooove getting to follow along on your hike, thank you so so much for sharing.
I was without transportation in the south for a year and I put myself in so much debt just trying to get around for my basic need, I completely understand that feeling of the receipt versus the fee's they deem acceptable. YAY! wooohooo 100 days and back on trail! hey lol you did do a 1/2 challenge it was just of tea! lol for the healthier among us.
So glad you are feeling well enough to hike. I’m thinking the health department needs to visit that last place you ate with the fried food. I bet the oil was bad/old
We are glad you are feeling better!! My wife and daughter and myself watch you every night while eating supper. You have become a household legend. Go Bad Bat Go!
So glad you're feeling better. Have you ever considered using bleach to purify your water? It's been my goto for 20-years. 2-4 drops per liter and 30-minutes waiting. It may sound gross but most city water is chlorinated and that's what plain bleach is. Just put in an eye dropper bottle from Walmart. Don't forget to rinse the bottle threads at 5-10 minutes in. Good luck! We're cheering for you!
That is the Anna Mitchener cabin owned by the PATC (not the ATC) if you belong to the PATC you can rent it out relatively cheaply. As an aside the PATC takes care of the AT to somewhere around Center Point Mountain (the last half-way point going North). Just out of curiosity, you don't suspect any particular water source? Although Norovirus kind of fits here too. Ya missed the custard stand and the best Microtel in America both in Carlyle. Good to see the humor coming back into your face again. Gabi's vlog is the third person I got to see future Bad Bat in. (and I see that she posted below) I posted I kind of liked the sweet and salty combo of Bad Bat and Scorch in her vlog. Boiling Springs is my end of the world.
Phew, it’s SO great to see you back on trail & the kindness of strangers once again shines through ❤ 1100 miles is INCREDIBLE😮 Do you realise you’ve just walked from South to North in the UK and you’re only in a few states and halfway on the AT! geez your country is Huuuuuuge 😂 🇺🇸
Awesome that you are sounding much better now and have your new belt👏👏 I would encourage you to watch Stella Hikes’ last episode #101 at your first opportunity. She was in the NH Whites with two fellas she hikes on and off with, 300+ miles from the Maine summit. I know you are a ways away, but it’s going to be so necessary for you to find someone as you approach the north to find a solid partner. I say this out of love and concern that It will be seriously dangerous for you to walk those uppermost sections alone. In the meantime, enjoy every coming mile you can❤️. Looking forward to the Q&A.
😅Day #98 was leaps and bounds more intense! don't chance the wind gusts and heavy rains lol I thought day #101 was a pretty standard day ??? a little snow in areas and ice but so far nothing drastic. I follow Jeff & Maila as well and when they went thru the smokies (video: Appalachian Trail Winter Thru-hike 2023: Smoky Mountains (Part 2) it was insane. I would say definitely follow the standard protocol regardless if you find a partner or not but is it really that essential ??? Curious bc im planning a future hike and so far it just looks like be incredibly cautious and don't hike on a very bad weather day. ???
Million Dreams, I say that because firstly Badbathikes absolutely hates hiking alone, even on easier sections. She definitely needs the encouragement to put one foot in front of the other some days. I simply question whether she is equipped to deal with what the higher north mountains bring, and it gets lonely without someone to share the triumphs as well as the challenges up north.
Yay Twizzler and Pat! I just met them yesterday when I was out doing trail magic. They were hunting for hikers in need of any help they could offer. Such great people! Good to see you looking better and eating some good food.
Congratulations on the halfway mark ,so good to see you back on trail hope it's not too soon, good to see you started wear you left off hope aer better for you
ughhh I'm so sorry this happened to you! Hey random idea - next time you have a hard time getting a ride to get resupply and are already DoorDashing, you can probably add on a Shop n Pay order at a grocery store. You're already paying the fees so you might as well get your groceries too! It's a new thing DoorDash is doing. Glad that you are able to keep your positive attitude through this, very inspiring!
Also - the thing that helped me on trail when I was losing so much weight at once was carrying a small thing of olive oil with me and pouring that on every meal at camp. It really helped!
Glad to see you back on track. Good for you to take your time as you get back on the trail. Can't believe you passed the 1100 mile marker - CONGRATULATIONS!
Lots to be happy about - you are feeling better; you had wonderful trail angels along the way; your hip belt seems to be working; you saw Gabby; you hiked 1/2 of the AT; but..............WOW - so sorry for what you have been through - hope it's long past and that you are much better by now 💙
Wanted to share with you a picture of our grandson who overheard us talking about bad bat on RUclips. He got a face painting at the park today and asked for a “bad bat”. If the link doesn’t come out or whatever it looks like a Batman bat. Just thought you’d get a kick out of it.
Glad you're doing well enough to get back to it. Please be careful as we care about you. I'm on the west coast. A fan for sure.🎉 carry on and yay to those that help you may blessings come to you all. 🙏
Do you have Dioralyte in the USA? This (or its US equivalent) is something every backpacker / bushcrafter / wild-camper should have in their backpack's med-kit.
@@sagittarius3363 It is a brand of rehydration sachets in the UK. If you've been hueying your guts up, it's imperative to get rehydrated as quick as possible when out in the backcountry.
Halfway.... ya hoo.... belt snug. Braids tight, back to old self. Atta girl. As several have mentioned, I too live in the area, and a lot of that experience and expense could have been avoided if I'd known your dilemma. Spilled milk now. Happy trails 👣, be safe, and watch the water.
I had giardia many years ago. Source unknown for me likely water was not camping but had traveled doing a couple of road trips. I was sick for at least 2 months before docs figured out what it was and got me the needs to get me well. I was very I’ll. I don’t think it comes and goes without the correct meds so I hope you don’t have giardia. Glad you are feeling somewhat better. Your doing great!!
I know this video is a few weeks behind at least. I just want you to let you know it's not from your water. You ate at a restaurant just the day before You started puking, and you picked up something there. Giardia doesn't hit that fast and it lasts a lot longer.
I don't think that's fair, the food may not be the best but a chain like Rutter's has to pay attention to the sanitation. I'm thinking it's Norovirus, checks all the boxes.
I don't know how delayed your videos are at this point..I think you said at one point that you're a month behind...but between trail angels and your 3400+ followers you should be able to put a shout out to the world thats circling your hike this year and ask for help wherever you are on the trail.
I know you are over half way now but maybe you could start a Facebook page or something that way if you are in need of help again you can get the word out.
Aw man, you were stuck not far from me! I wish I could have sent you my contact number. I would have gladly driven you around. :/ Glad you got to stay somewhere comfortable while recuperating though.
My husband and I have traveled for vacation and watching you while on the Colorado trail. We are cheering you on. Stay well. Keep hiking🤎🥾🥾🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Congrats on 1100 miles. Happy dance 💃
I'm so glad you recovered well and that you got all that help. Take it easy. Keep trekking. 😀
So good to see that you got through it! It sounds just horrible! I'm watching you from my bed sick with c-19 and I no longer feel like drinking my water...
Wishing you all the best for your second half of the trail! I loooove getting to follow along on your hike, thank you so so much for sharing.
Whoa-oh! we’re (more than) halfway there … whoa-oh! living on a prayer 🥳

What an ordeal! So good to see you feeling better and back on the trail.
Congrats on passing 1100! Awesomeness!!
We are glad you are feeling better!! My wife and daughter and myself watch you every night while eating supper. You have become a household legend. Go Bad Bat Go!
Very happy for you that you are feeling better. Congratulations on hitting 1100 miles.

Glad your doing better. Safe travels.

The start of Bad Bat X Scorch team!!! Interesting seeing your perspective from this day 😂
Looks like you are strong again. You're back!

So glad to see you looking better! Hope you got to stop in at the AT Museum there at Pine Grove Furnace State Park.
I am happy to see you back on trail and recuperating. You have done very well considering you were so sick in the wilderness. So strong!

Nice that you found Gabi. If you are losing too much weight, you probably need more protein. Happy Trails. Good Luck, Rick

Lenny met couch to trail Renee too. Glad you had him to help you through your ordeal.❤
I told you that you need to be hanging upside down more often when sleeping!😊👍🦇

Just curious how far from home were you
I still think it was the gas station food. Probably something not kept or cooked at safe temperature.
