Curiosity: Alicia Agneson (Freydis' actress) was actually being strangled by Alex Hogh Andersen (Ivar's actor). She revealed so on a sweedish radio. Apparently, she wanted to make the scene as real as possible, and the directors at first rejected it, but after some insistance on her part, they agreed. They had a paramedic there to assist her afterwards, and in case something went wrong. So, Freydis' reddening face during the strangling was not make up, it was fucking real.

Aslaug and Freydis both accepted death because their baby was dead(or in Aslaug’s case she thought Ivar was dead). That parallel goes well with the fact that Ivar said apart from his mother he has never known what it was like to love or be loved until Freydis.

The bitch opened the camp gates to enemy forces and aided a night raid, any love would have turned to disgust the moment he realised that, this show romanticies it, but in reality (true history) she would've been brutaly beaten (if not tortured) before death.
I think deep down he knew exactly what kind of person Freydis is. His subconscious was manifested in a dream earlier in the season when he dreamed Margaret is stabing him and in an instance Margaret's face shifted into Freydis... Cause those 2 woman are snakes, Margret was simply implosive and not suficticated while Freydis was very suficticated and patient.

I love how all the comments are that she was strangled for real, she was very committed to her role and wanted it to look realistic and it makes the scene more difficult to watch too as she was genuinely struggling while staying in character and after that she has to play dead it doesn't seem like there were any cuts in this scene, hats off to Alicia Agneson, very brave on her first role, that was risky but for the sake of the art.

I love that the writers made him be behind her. Strangling from the front is one of the hardest things to do as it’s slow and painful, and about the only people who have the ability are people who fully resent the person they’re killing. While I understand a major reason he was behind her was likely due to his disability, it’s just a nice touch to the scene, showing he really did still love her.
All she had to do was stand across the room and tell him she wouldn't have died

Lagertha always took her own power after Ragnar and only when others were taking her lightly and disrespecting her. Like Aslaug for sitting on her throne during the battle and then expecting to walk away, disrespecting the warriors who fought for her and refusing to settle the bad blood with Lagertha. She deserved an arrow in the back from a Viking standpoint. Torvi never really had power, she was just respected for her good nature and being a strong shield maiden.

This is my issue with how they film these scenes. I do Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Most of these people let go right after the other person passes out. That would mean they wake up a couple moments after.
