There was once a whaler who was swallowed by a whale. A day or 2 later his crew got a whale. By pure chance it was the same whale. When they cut it open they found the man alive and uninjured. Though all of his skin was permanently turned white or a grayish color. What may be even more crazy is he kept working on that ship and didn't make a big deal about it.

I don't think the whale realized that it was swallowing a kayak and people until they were already in its mouth, but it did spit them out once it realized its mistake.
It wasn't the whale mistake. They were concienciously kayaking where the whales feed. They were looking for it. I don't think the whale could see the kayak behind the fish or plancton bank. People being stupid.

Don't know if this really is the first such video, but it actually seems to happen very seldomly which is strange IMO. I've always asked myself why this doesn't happen more often.

I read somewhere that a whales throat is actually very small, making it impossible for them to swallow a human. Still pretty terrifying. Especially if the whale decided to dive deep down without spitting them back out.
Can you even breathe if you were swallowed by a whale? What if you run out of breath or drown?
There was a story of a whale that was caught and they found a man inside still alive but his skin was bleached white and he lost all his hair. He was revived and described how he was doing something similar to this and then remembered sinking, being squeezed through something slimy, and then lost consciousness.

Most times I know exactly what I’d do. But in this situation, I think I’d be stuck & perplexed, having to process WTF I just witnessed. Cause whales are usually docile plankton-eaters. It goes totally against their nature. Then maybe I’d have the idea that the movie Food of the Gods or series ZOO was actually manifesting through reality and that all animals everywhere were rebelling against humans in unison.

Yes, except for the technicality that a whale like that can't actually swallow a human sized thing. So, it had them in its mouth and then yacked them out. I imagine the whale choking and being like, what the hell did I get in my mouth!? Yuck! lol I am surprised that they didn't get injured though. An accidental pinch by a huge whale jaw could easily end you, I would think.

It’s situations like this where it’s scary for both the person and the whale. Humpback Whales are filter feeders and eat things such as plankton and brine shrimp. Them accidentally swallowing a creature as large as a human is potentially lethal for them and they know it so they try to get the person out of their mouth as fast as possible. It’s a very rare occurrence that doesn’t normally happen and is very dangerous for both sides.

I actually witnessed a large shark following a kayak in Carmel. If you see someone that resembles me in one of those or a paddle/surf boards in the ocean. .. it's definitely not me.
It's not physically possible for most whales to swallow a human because their throats are much smaller than their mouths. A whale's throat is usually only about 30-40 centimeters in diameter, which is roughly the size of a human fist, while their mouths can be up to 3 meters long. For example, a blue whale's throat is about the size of a basketball, so it can only swallow something a little larger than a grapefruit.

I used to kayak in the ocean but after seeing stuff like this I've began sticking to rivers. I think I would've died from sheer fright if this happened!

@@gothicgirlfriend7375 I ve raised 2 alligators "Chomper" and "Donkey Donk " I would put them in the swimming pool sometimes. I only got bit once because I was drunk and my girlfriend told me not to kiss 'Chomper" so I did . He was barely a foot long and it didn't hurt bad. All that said I grew up right on the river and although I know the dangers snakes and alligators don't bother me at all . I am glad we don't have crocodiles, they are much more aggressive. Dear is dead but it's just the thought of getting eaten by a shark that chills me to the bone. I know that years ago a bull shark killed several people in one day and it was pretty far upriver.
@@12Jobrown thanks I will check that out. I grew up on the Altamaha river and it has a history of a river monster going back to the Tama indians. They called it the Altamahahe (sic) but most locals call it the "Goose Creek Monster". The last sighting I heard of was a captain and crew near Darien,Ga spotted it on an oyster bed . This was in the 90's I think and it's description sounds like that of a Plesiosaur. All I know is that there are surely things in the water that exist and haven't been recognized by zoology. My grandfather was a commercial fisherman and caught something about 120 miles up river that was huge and he didn't know what it was. He admitted that it had frightened him so he cut it free before it could sink the boat.
Yeah stick to rivers where you can just get ripped to shreds by a croc instead.

How many people read the title, looked at the thumbnail, & were mindblown twice at the same time?
1) We have amazing footage of a whale quietly, casually, *gently* swallowing two people in a kayak, whole, then they quietly pop up to the surface unharmed. There's no chaos. 🧐 This is the kind of calm I need in my life.
2) Another person on RUclips making some ridiculously unbelievable claim in the title. Neither the thumbnail, nor title, are clickbait. Uploader doesn't make you watch 10 minutes of nothing & ads. A whale swallowing two people in a kayak & spitting them back out is the first thing you see. Please give this uploader an award. Pretty sure this is only going to happen once.

This whale only eats microscopic plants and animals. It has large baleen plates that filter out large junk like kayakers. 😅

That is an incredible story and what an insane experience. I bet you and this other man who also got swallowed by a whale however, he got wedged in between the whales tongue and jaw, I'm sure you've heard of him, my apologies though I forgot his name. He seems to think the reason the whale spit him out is because the whale was uncomfortable with him wedged in his jaw. Spit him out straight up in the air, his friend was there and saw the whole thing. Glad you're OK and damn what a conversation piece 😆

The reason the whale spit them out, in all cases, is because they're not equipped to swallow such large prey. They go after plankton and other small prey which school in large numbers.
They are also uninterested in such large prey as mammals.
This was a mistake that the whale made... it was confused or distracted by something else.
Ny guess: The birds were crowded around the kayakers, and the whale might have been assuming they were chasing a large school near the surface, totally ignoring the big yellow thing amidst it. Or perhaps it had already resolved to scoop up everything around it and spit the yellow thing back out.
Either way, it's fascinating... and it's so great that two different people just happened to be filming in that direction at the right moment.

Having had a close experience with a Gray Whale while surfing, I assure you it is a miracle that whales breath didn't kill them. It is no joke, the most vile thing I have ever had happen to me.

lol. What happened in your encounter?
Fish tend to swim near edges, its where they feel most secure opposed to being in open water where it makes them easier prey for their predators. The fish likely swam toward the kayaks hoping that would provide them some measure of safety as the whales closed in on them. With the whales in hot pursuit of the school of feeders it seems the whale inadvertedly took two kayakers into its mouth and quickly spit them out once realizing it had something much larger than expected in its mouth that it wasn't after. I'm sure it was as much a surprise and shock to the whales as it was to all the humans witnessing it. Those two kayakers are probably very happy whales don't feed on humans. 🤣🤣
I love when people create entire theories based on facts they don’t have - the fish you’re speaking about are nowhere in the film - who knows why the whale did that but as long as we’re speculating I’d like to add that the whale was identifying as a great white shark!

@@patriot1303I grew up around the bay and the ocean my whole life. If you see that many seagulls swooping down onto the water, they're not doing it because they want a drink. They're doing it because there's a school of fish there.

To be accurate, the whale mouthed two women in a kayak. There's no way a whale like that could swallow a single person, let alone two in a kayak.

Imagine telling to your friends that you got swallowed by a whale...
With one exception, all large whales eat only small critters (krill, etc.) - they scoop up water and filter out the critters by pushing it through their baleen. So, they are not equipped to eat either people or kayaks. The only large toothed whale is the Sperm whale, who usually dine on giant squid. They will only eat people named Capt. Ahab.
