Some worksites require semi trucks and busses to drive in the left lane unless entering or exiting the highway. Pennsylvania's I76 worksite is currently doing this. When they shift the drive lanes over, it's not always safe for heavy vehicles to drive on what would normally be the shoulder.
I also am from Pennsylvania and therefore has run the PA turnpike countless times in my life. I live just west of Philadelphia in a town called Media and love this roadway. I've been to Pittsburgh years ago with my family and traveled through the area of the police chase a few days ago. The drive through those scenic areas is a very nice one too. The PA turnpike mainline is actually my favorite highway in the state!!!!
@illuminerd3757 not even close. Their widening the entire road to 3 lanes. Ohio line to philly where its already that wide. Doing it section by section. Its probably gonna be 15 or 20 til its completely done. They literally have to move mountains. Its been 2 years for a 10 mile stretch. And they have like 260 to go. Not sure what their gonna do with the tunnels tho
Had one in a Georgia construction zone in the wee hours one night years ago. I was doing the speed limit when some moron blew my doors off. Before he got out of sight I saw a county mounty in the middle. A minute later just before he blew my doors off I blinked my markers. Just after the end of the construction guess who was on the shoulder having a conversation?
It has to be impossible to can do in general given how long that would take, and especially with the tunnels they could never do anything with that. It’s the way it is there with not enough space for more than two lanes, and completely impossible. So, it doesn’t make really any real sense to do construction for that type of project.
@@rickadams9 I drive all lower 48. Depends upon the construction situation. Yet the left lane only is common in every state. Shoulders can be weak, right lane too narrow for semis, numerous reasons.
In a slow down construction zone, I think that rule is out, personally. Construction workers get killed every year by speeding drivers. If truck is going speed limit, don't see a problem.
@@diffened The problem is that he should not be in the left lane. Period. Any person who drives in the left lane without passing should not have a driver's licence.
Camp in the woods, not the left lane.
Respect the physics of large vehicles Mr. Wizard

@@nickd.4512 .... Sounds like the Newark Airport. I've changed planes there multiple times over 40 years, and it's ALWAYS under construction!
Love it.

Karma isn't real. 🤣, that's something people made up to act like they aren't getting screwed.

Edit:Why were you in the left lane?
Some construction zones are marked "trucks use left lane".
@@russcudney1469 Driving for 50 yrs. Never seen a sign like that in Fla.. Maybe a state thing.

From what i can see, this is just another clueless trucker blocking the passing lane, creating gridlock and road rage.
