Your right mate. Cod or any species arnt interested in the elastic cotton. Only wots on the hook I use this method on the east coast it's a deadly combo good look and get into them cod all the best for this winter 👍👍👍
The Fishing is scent brett not sight. The water is brown generally when shore fishing, the reason for head removal is to get a neater bait that has better aerodynamics. But it's each to there own if you want the head on you can there's no rules this is just the way I prefer to do it

@@C3BFA Everyone's had a bit of Squid or Lug when eating sandwiches at the beach, can't be helped haha. They are good for Rays too. To be honest any cocktail bait is brilliant. I use Squid and lug for Smoothhound.
I prepare mine at home with squid\blacks, squid\bluey, blacks\bluey, squid \crab cart, black\crab bait elastic them all wrap them in cling film in packs of 5 and with some I spray crab\ mackerel favouring onto each one when wrapping to soak in the flavour as the freeze then take them in a thermos to keep frozen ready to use at the beach
Good Vlog mate, i use a bait holder and I hook 5 worms through the head then line up to bait holder put hook in clip then add squid and wrap up, anglers corner in milford should sell bait holder mate 👍

I make these at home as well, much better to have them already prepped... Although mine are slightly smaller usually I use two squid strips and 2 worms & they usually turn out quite large too but I do make them like you did sometimes also. I put them in takeaway tubs to marinate in seagoo too if I have some but not really important, these baits have great scent anyway. I always bang them back in the freezer in the tubs ready for when needed.

Seems like a great plan. Will the frozen baits be easy to get apart when frozen or will they thaw enough? Interested to know more about the bait pump too!
I get the baits out around 1-2 hours before I go and by the time you get there they are like part frozen the juice goes like slush I will show this on a shore video soon so people can see the method behind the madness lol There is a video with the bait pump on next Friday at 6pm it was only my second time using it but inshore me using it talk about the pump explain where to get one and I managed 50worm on that worm session so did ok for my second time hopefully you enjoy the video Thank you for your comment if you give the bait idea a go let me know what you think so far I find it great it's so easy I out the baits in a Apr tight container and leave the rubbish at home there is no spills in the seat box and I can take the waste bait home that covered in elastic and save the juice for the next batch of home made baits so the scent in it keeps building

@@C3BFA that's great news, if you don't mind I have 2 questions.. how far out are you aiming to get for the cod? and, how tight do you wind up to your pennal rig? I imagine if you fish with a slack line the bait will be on the bottom, but if you fish super tight to it the bait could be a few feet off the ground? especially if you're fishing a steep bit of ground?
General no I don't but if it's hanging out i do never noticed a difference with it in or out don't change catch rates Thank you I'm hoping after lockdown can get out and start the cod hunt and use the baits and show the bait elastic tips first hand just hope it all comes together lol Fishing never does 😂😂

Sorry I missed this comment I personally wouldn't wrap them in plastic the bait elastic is enough But I have never used cart so not sure how I would do it tbh
They work great, handy on a kayak too , I find it handy to use a couple of those thin metal bbq skewers as a baiting needle to keep everything tidy,

How do you go about mounting this on the hook? Part hook on bottom hook, pennel hook through the top then bind it on with a bit of elastic?

Yes it does josh. I have done that my slef. You do need to let them thaw for an hour or so to cut them tidy.

try a b8m8 for holding it all together while you elastic it

yep do all just like that but i do make the rigs up and freeze them with the bait so all i do is take the rig i just used off and new one on easy....
I did that in my other prep video the bluey and squid to give it ago I just wasn't sure if it would weaken the line but still gona test it out

use bait needles to hold bait together and wrap areound easier mate we do same in Mersey fishing for cod from charters.

Have you ever injected that juice back in to the peeped bait before freezing ?

One rod as far as I can and one just a normal cast
I have this slack taken up but no bend in the rod if that makes sense
