Just ordered one of the extras leftover from the kickstarter from Brandon's website. Can't wait to get my hands on these beauties. 200$ is definitely more than I've spent on a book before but for this quality I'm not complaining. These will be the highlight of my bookshelf. Hope to get the rest of the leatherbounds when they're back in stock. Wish I didn't miss out on the kickstarter. Didn't hear about it until after the fact.
Well, I just did the research. All the leatherbound books are $100 each. TWoK is split into 2 books, so it'll be $200 when it goes to the regular Brandon Sanderson store. Meanwhile, anyone who preorders the Leatherbound + Swag bundle gets the book PLUS an additional $110 worth of goodies, all for $200. If anyone is interested in getting the leatherbound at some point but can't decide of they want to pull the trigger now, I recommend doing it. It's 55% more value buying it now than it will be if you wait to buy it in the future, even though it's the same price.
You haven’t factored in all those bonus goodies requiring several lots of shipping costing almost as much as the books themselves which is why I had to go for the books only package.
@@luketufts6827 yes I'm in Canada and my shipping was originally $32 but cost another $50 or so adding in the swag package.. with the dollar conversions I paid $320 for books and shipping plus another $130 for swag. PLUS when I receive the packages I will then also have to pay for customs/duty.. :(

it looks absolutely amazing. I'm changing apartments, so I have the space to buy a new bookshelf, so I can appropriately show the beauty of this masterpiece.
For those who are concerned about the color (like I was), it really does seem to be very dependent on lighting, and there is a video on the kickstarter's page where the book looks significantly more blue. (In this video, to me it looks so dark that it's almost black, and certainly nothing like the 3D model we were shown)
Absolutely gorgeous! Saddened I accidentally canceled my kickstart and had to re do it(and in doing so gor a much later release date) but I am so excited for this

There is currently no set date known on when this information will be available. Tor will make the announcements when everything is ready and plans are in place to the point that they can!

@CJ Carter their contract allows them to produce leatherbound books, so there is the question of legality there since vegan leather isn’t really leather, and neither is cloth.
Does anyone know what the international shipping costs would be like roughly? $200 is alot but I could almost justify it... but if there's another $50 dollar shipping fee it could just throw it over the edge :( For reference I live in South Africa! So we can get everything its just expensive for anything from America. UK prices are reasonable though
I didn't understand what people where saying that Brandon's stuff have a strong Mormon/Christian feel to his works. But after seeing these leather bound books. It was the missing piece of the puzzle and now I can see the References and inspiration. Now I'm not going to say its a bad or good thing. But as a Fan of his it not going to stop me from enjoying his books. But I'm not gonna lie those leather-bounds look like bibles.
That's completely fair to see the resemblance between these and the Bible. But hey, he's creating worlds that people would rather live in, and believe in, and take courage and lessons from. Kind of like what the author of the Bible (whoever that lucky fella was) was going for. I'd certainly rather follow the lessons taught in Brandons books, rather than that laughable mess.

It depends on how much the book means to you, but it is definitely a very high quality piece. I might also add that if you buy it through the Kickstarter as opposed to on his website later (same price) you will get upwards of $100 worth of swag in stretch goals, including a Knight’s Radiant Order pin, patch, sticker sheet, and coin of your choice, plus stormlight playing cards, drink coasters, backer pin, chicken scout patch and stickers (signing livestream invention), Wit/Witless coin, a journey before destination bumper sticker, and probably some other stuff I can’t remember 🤯 it’s awesome
It's only going to be Windrunner for the Way of Kings. The entire backstory/flashback sequences are all Kaladin's story. Just like when the second one gets a leatherbound it'll more than likely be red with the Lightweavers symbol for Shallan's backstory/flashback sequences. All the order-specific surveys were for the swag orders. So the prints, patches, pins, etc.
@@knightradiant unfortunate. I heard somewhere that there are 10 books planned for Stormlight so if there is gonna be s leatherbound for all of them then there could still be one for each order. Really want my Skybreaker leatherbound:(

I was thinking just today I wished that I could get a hardback of the first two books as I only have Oathbringer in hard copy and I can't even find the other two, but $200 is torturous! Please, please, please, get Way of Kings and Words of Radiance published in the UK hardback style - not having full, matching sets is a crime against bookshelves!
I'm legally blind, so I just stick to eBooks because I can make the font as big as I want and use white text on a black background and the book doesn't way 30 pounds 😁 If I had a bookshelf that would make a nice piece though.
