    Audio-synch issues aside, this is a great example of true Screwball comedy…..when movies were funny without being gross or loaded with profanity. Just pure talent on display. Witty script and wonderful performances, especially Dunne and Grant.
    Locate an in-sync version of “Awful Truth” and you can enjoy it as it was meant to be enjoyed (especially the scene where Irene Dunne crashes the gathering of Grant’s new girlfriend’s family-it’s the purest gold!) 😊

Back in the late 1980s I met and had lunch at my friend 's house with the debonair Irene Dunne's Lucy's voice teacher, actor Alexander D'Arcy. He was as charming as his movie roles. Remember him as Marilyn Monroe 's date in "How To Mary A Millionaire"?
    I forgot to ask him about his experience on The Awful Truth, though he did talk about Marilyn Monroe.

      @ZestySea 7 месяцев назад +1

      There’s no evidence Cary Grant was gay or bi. He had five wives and gave up acting to be a stay-at-home dad at aged 62. The idea that he was gay came from the fact that he lived with Randy Scott for 12 years and that photos of them living together in the ‘30s look a bit intimate, but they were publicity shots. As a huge star and a very handsome one, Cary had lots of Hollywood friends including some who were gay.
      He wasn’t easy-going and calm though, he was very troubled and difficult to live with until his later years.
