    Good tip about resetting to zero before putting away, especially with locks harder to decode 😀

    I bet hanging on a door, at night and trying to decode this would be a lot harder! Great video.

    • @LockNoob

      you say that, but it could be easier in some ways... there are a few ways into this lock...

    In my opinion, the approach of taking a piece of feeler gauge cut square and feeling for the gates is MUCH faster. I trained up to decode them in less than a minute for (reasons) a couple of years back. You spin for the flat spot, then subtract 5 and you're done.

    • @LockNoob
      @LockNoob  3 года назад +2

      Sometimes it's about the fun not the speed :-)

    Thanks for the video. It took me longer of course. The free spot wasn't as much as a difference as I was expecting. So I needed a much lighter touch.

    Thanks for the video. I’ve had a Master Lock key safe that my daughter forgot the code to, sitting in my garage for years. I was about to throw it away but then searched for and came across your vid. By using an old spark plug feeler gauge set and a few attempts I just managed to open it. 👍🏻

    Awesome job ash my friend. I use a very thin broken key extractor from a klom set as a notch decoder. And have done that method on a few locks with that design. 👍🤘🖖🍻

    How do you make handles out of cable ties?
    How do you melt them together?
    I used a 0.005" feeler gauge that I cut in half, and I have the scar on my thumb to show for it.
    If you show us how to make handles, then we could make our own master 175 bypass tool.

  • @joneday9131

    I have one of these it’s open but I guess I changed the code bc the reset won’t move. I tried all the suggestions but still no luck. I have yet to see a video decoding with the lock open. Do you think I should close and try it that way?

    Check out Uncle Fjester who is also on RUclips. He shows how to decode a lockbox with a shim made from an aluminum beverage can. But making a decoder tool is definitely next level. Great video.

    after watching LPL video on notched decoder, ive tried this method on same lock with Peterson standard hook in 0.018. first try in 30 seconds. i believe the decoder u made is waaaay too thin. still nice video man.

    I found one of these Master key boxes all abandoned, beat up, and locked. I opened it w/o any tools, cleaned it, and replaced the battery for the LED light. Works Great.
    I have it outside shackled to one meter of a 3/4" D-ring link chain (links almost as big as my fist), which is attached to concrete stairs by a 3/8" HILTI Concrete Anchor sunk 4" deep.
    It's like I got Chuck Norris holding the extra keys for me. And I'm sleeping like a baby all night long. HILTI...starts with the same letter as Heroin. And Damn, I need me some more HILTI....

    Looking at that lockbox, it looks like you can hammer it on the right side to get the shackle open, so like you said, don't have it on display. Did you ever have a better look at that $1000 gate lock? It seemed a very bizarre over-engineered design.

    • @LockNoob
      @LockNoob  3 года назад

      I will give that a try, you could be right about the hammer trick!

    Is the Master Lock 5414D Heavy Duty Key Lock Box any sturdier and harder to break into than the model above? Hiding the box a bit is helpful advice, as long as Emergency Services knows where it is. Some people in the complex where I live had to have 911 break into their house and incurred $10K worth of damage, so a lock box is feeling important.

    • @P_RO_
      @P_RO_ 2 года назад +1

      All of the Master Lock keyboxes of this style are vulnerable to this attack as well as other methods. I would NOT recommend them for anything beyond low security needs. These also have the habit of swinging out as you close the door and jamming between door and frame which can marr or chip wood door frames, but at least is inconvenient to deal with.

    I'd love to know what moves when you change a code on those things, are you able to gut one noob?

    • @RuneInternational
      @RuneInternational 3 года назад +3

      The wheels are double. Inner part holds gate outer part the number. Pushing the pin disengage the 2 parts to allow the numbers to change position. Releasing the pin link the parts together in the new positions

    If a criminal wanted to open one of these woud they bother with decoding it or just smash it open or take a grinder to it
    Most theft seems to be opportunist - windows left open at back - door not locked - in UK snaping euro locks in patio doors seems to be favourite
