Hidden Gems of the South of France: Sanary-sur-Mer and the Île des Embiez

Join us on our trip to France where we travel to some of the hidden gems in the South of France including Sanary-sur-Mer and the Île des Embiez.
In Episode 12 of our Eurotrip 2020 series, we feature highlights of our trip around the South of France starting with a visit to the lovely town of Aix-en-Provence. The main highlight here for us was the hike up the Montagne Sainte-Victoire. The views were phenomenal, and a natural wonder not to miss in the Aix-en-Provence area!
Afterwards, we head to the sea-side town of Sanary-sur-Mer, located right on the Côte d'Azur, to visit a friend and to finally put up our feet and relax a bit! During our time here, we visit the Île des Embiez, a spectacular place to relax on a beach or to hike around the island. We absolutely loved it!
On our last day in Sanary-sur-Mer we went on a dolphin boat cruise in the morning, followed by an afternoon boat cruise to Calanques National Park. We were blown away by the shear beauty and uniqueness of the Calanques and admit it was one of our highlights during our entire visit to the Côte d'Azur!

It also very beautiful to walk across the Calanques, I would recommend to walk here during the week not on sat or Sundays. If you are staying in Marseille, you can take the bus to the town Les Goudes. The town is interesting for its nature and for its easily accessiblity from Marseille by public transport. Behind the town, there is the passage des croisettes. It’s a very beautiful trail, I remember it to be very calm, no tourists, some locals. You can just sit in these rock formations, look on the island, watch the sunset. One of my fav spots on the outskirts of Marseille.

What company did you use for the boat tour and how long was it ? thx great video.

We don’t remember the name of the company. There’s several kiosks by the marina in Sanary-sur-Mer that offer boat trips, so you have several options and can easily book the same day. The tour was about 2 hours or so from what I can remember. Thanks!

Hi Tiff! I don’t remember the exact name of the company. It was booked in person from the kiosk at the harbour. There are only a few options there in Sanary-sur-Mer, so should be easy to find. Hope that helps!
