thanks for review, just ordered one for printing architectural drawings plus high quality renders, because of pigment black and good printing dpi the linework should be crisp and durable in time, its like a hybrid use case for me, I hope it will fit my needs! 🤞
I just bought this printer on sale at Office Depot and I use it for my amateur photography for personal enjoyment ONLY. The 13x19 prints on good quality photo paper are amazing and my office walls are full of them. I recommend using this printer with a good quality digital camera...in my case I use a full frame Nikon D850 DSLR. Like this guy says, if you just want a regular printer for basic use, this printer is overkill but if you want to use it for some great quality photo prints, especially wide format like 13x19 prints, this printer is GREAT and I personally highly recommend it.
I'm really intersted in knowing how much time did it exactly take to print that last photo? 30 seconds would be fantastic ! If you could to a short video printing this photo, or something else, in real time, and showing your settings on the printer.
You might mention the Active box cartridge that needs to be replaced every 3 months to save 100's this keeps the ink from clogging heads or the excess ink has no where to go.
Thank you for your review of the Epson EcoTank Photo ET-8550. I watched the entire video, and you didn't mention any cons as stated at the beginning of your review. Additionally, it appears that only Epson requires a calibration setup to be performed before using the printer for the first time. I own several expensive Epson printers and other brands, and only Epson mandates a test print before initial use. Moreover, the calibration lines are not aligned initially, and the test must be redone. If, after several attempts, the lines remain broken, the print heads must be cleaned or cleared. This is not ideal for a new printer. A new printer shouldn't require calibration or cleaning of the print heads. As I mentioned, other brands do not necessitate calibration, and users can print from the start.
Hey @LouRao! I appreciate you taking the time to watch my video. As someone who comes from the world of cutters and not printers, you are teaching me something new regarding calibration. My cons were more so on the appearance aspect, sorry for that confusion. My overall experience with this printer has been wonderful from the standpoint of someone who cuts vinyl and doesn't do much printing.
I had to return my new printer because of this. It would not work after going through the steps. It kept printing broken lines and it drank the ink. It told me to wait 12 hours after doing a power clean. It still didn’t work. I returned and exchanged it. I am hoping this was just a bad one because the reviews have all been so positive. 😩
@@merpvfddjIt’s true, Epson printers are notorious for having lines across the pages. This can be frustrating when purchasing a new Epson printer, as it's often hit or miss whether you'll encounter this issue. I've been through four printers before finding one without any line marks on each print. It's crazy, but Epson has been aware of this known issue for years and has not done anything about it. However, once you find one without the line issues, there's no turning back. In my opinion, Epson printers offer the best quality prints compared to Canon's models in the same range. Canons known for print head clogs and wasting inks each non stop cycles it performs before printing and turning the printer on. So, for me, it's worth the trade-off to keep returning and buying until I have a faultless Epson printer. Don't give up; eventually, you will find an Epson without the print line issues. As for those positive reviews, consider the total sales and compare them to the negative percentage-overall, it's very low.
About a month ago I started researching printers after a long hiatus from printing photos. I used to own and use a 44” HP Z3100 GP Photo printer with the built in spectrometer for profiling media. The printer was amazing, but it died from non-use in recent years. Fast forward to last week. I bought an Epson ET-8550 for $799 CAN at Best Buy and “traded in” an old unworking Epson C80 I forgot to recycle for an additional $99 off. What a great printer for $504 USD! Wow! Just WOW! Highly recommended to all dSLR owners.
Hi, where did you buy your Epson Et-8550..?Whats the power voltage? Does it said AC 120/230 V (50/60Hz)? I was looking a site where to buy the same white Epson et-8550 same as yours...that supports 220V 50-60Hz..
I know they've had them in the past. I was upset they don't offer it anymore on their site or Best Buy :( Thank you for watching and dropping a comment! Have a blessed day!
Yes you can through the back straight through feed. You can print on media up to 1.3mm that includes fabric.. maybe not a full shirt but you can print canvas, or fabric to make your own clothing.
Is it worth it? 'YES' it's a fantastic printer. Out of it's box the machine was a true 'plug and play' (remember that one) The software ran through without a blip. The Wi-Fi set-up automatically and even set-up on my phone ( total surprise) After topping up the ink wells the machine clicked and purred, installed the latest updates, and within about 20mins my 1st A3 print was rolling through to finish. I was amazed at it's quality, and speed, but I then only realised it had printed in standard print. OMG you can even crank up print quality more! Now my question: Is Epson the only printer that works out of it's box and the idea of having to contact 'support' never crosses your mind!
Do you guys use pigment inks in this printer to print stickers? I know that if you use dye ink & laminate the sticker- it will be waterproof but it will fade if use outdoor. I'm thinking of buying one of this printer mainly to print quality stickers
I just bought this printer 5 days ago, now I have to return it. It's noisy, the paper always jam, and I need to clean it every time the paper jam. 2/10 , not recommended at all.
Hey there! I appreciate you chiming in! I must be used to loud cutters and printers like my Graphtec. To me, it seems pretty normal in terms of noise level! As for the jamming and cleaning, I do 1 print head cleaning weekly as a precautionary measure and have only run into a couple paper jams since owning it.
I have the same problem. It doesn't feed well and jams a lot. It's just very fragile feeling. The print quality is awesome and I like the idea of volume printing with the ink tanks. But I'm at 20% through the ink and have had to work 50+ jams, misfeeds or the printer thinking it's out of paper when it's not. I'm using quality photo paper too. I'm putting in a warranty request.
Over the past few years I have come to the conclusion that its not worth owning an inkjet printer, in fact any colour printer. I don't print many photos and thus I'm forever having issues with blocked cartridges, nozzles and other crap. In short, if you are not a big print user, then get your prints at a print shop and save a fortune.
Not worth. 6 colors. Too much problems with it. It is difficult to adjust the printer head. Too many colors. One color constantly gives a gap. I did about 30 head cleanings. So that the printer more or less worked. Over time, I realized that this printer is not worth spending so much time on its adjustment each time. I spent a total of 10 days adjusting all the quality settings. I contacted the Epson service. To find out why the settings get lost over time and the printer head gives gaps after a while. They said that this is normal. They say you need to print more often. I categorically do not recommend. Over time, I just gave up updating the parameters and doing cleanings. Buy yourself something else but not this one. Learn from my mistakes

I am almost 5 months in, and I still love it!

Perfectly said!
How about cost-performance ratio-aspects?
How much was it on sale for
Just bought this from bulldog liquidators in Simi valley. 200 bucks. I think they had like 5 left very impressed. Good video.
I have the black 8550 (UK). Getting some lovely grapic prints 😊
Jealousy is an understatement

can i use t542 pigments on it? also, i don't want to use photo black or gray, can i exclude those and leave the tanks empty?

Have you had a chance to try it on thick card stock? Thank you.😊
And the longer size… apparently it can feed through the back…

Epson do this 8550 in black, I have it myself
I know they've had them in the past. I was upset they don't offer it anymore on their site or Best Buy :(

Can you print on fabric with this printer?
Straight out the box, no. You can convert it to a DTF printer. However, I do advise against that, as you will void EPSON's warranty.
Yes you can through the back straight through feed. You can print on media up to 1.3mm that includes fabric.. maybe not a full shirt but you can print canvas, or fabric to make your own clothing.

Good review no bollocks. From England the place where you get 2 years in prison for a retweet lol.
Sarah Wilkinson…
Gracias. Que buena información.
Great review!
Thank you!
Got it this sale for 599 Canadian...
Can we print stickers on it?
Yes! I use it to print stickers! Keep in mind if you want them to be water proof, you will need to add a laminate on top of the printed sticker.
@@aavinylcuts Thanks.. I will check out on how to laminate at home! Thank you so much for the reply.. It is very helpful..

Maybe we can swap as I could only buy the black version and wanted white 😂
Haha! You are so lucky. EPSON is messing with our aesthetics!
Don’t let this guy fool you he’s a quintillionare 😊

Thank you for the review. Please consider not using a hoodie because the 2 wires tap on the microphone very annoyingly :(
