I just purchased the ET-8550 today after my Epson Stylus Photo R2000 bit the dust after 12 long years. I want to make sure I don't miss anything w/setup, as some reviews suggest using the Smart Panel App to do the install. Your video was thorough, to the point and of great education before I open the box in the next few days. This was the absolute best video. Thank you so much. **Decided to order a new table to set the printer on as well!

I received this as a Christmas present. I finally had time to watch a set up video and you are quite thorough. I feel more comfortable setting this up now, instead of waiting for my “Techie Grandson”. I would not destroy the box in case there’s something wrong with the printer, I ordered mine from B & H in NY. I never had an issue with them and the printer came very well packed. BTW, I get no money from B& H for stating this, I just believe in good value for the money and they had the better price. Thank you for your time.

Welcome to the club, I have owned for 18-months the smaller Epson ET-8500 printer. To my delight, this model performs even better that my prior printer an Epson Artisan 725 (Arctic white) which, I thought was outstanding (smile...smile).

Just ordered this printer to replace my beloved 20 year old Epson 2200. What a great printer that has been, but print head finally gave up after my final 13x19 print. Looking forward to how well 8550 will compare to toutput quality of the 2200.

I bought the ET-8500 2 months ago, and printed about 500 pictures with it. I recommend doing another head alignment procedure after some use, after some running-in. I had to change the settings after 2 months of moderately intensive use. My prints are now perefct!
This printer in white... much more pretty as my new one in black (8550 in europe only black)

I felt this same way with my prior printer an Epson Artisan 725, in the United States this model was sold in both the color "black" and in the color "white". Selected the "white" version because, at the time, I was pairing it with a glossy white 24-inch iMac (smile...smile).

Yes It will feed poster board from the back and will run heavy card stock one sheet at a time through the top load. I have vinyl on the list of things to try.
Keep the box and all the packing intact.

Hi can I print 20X30 photos using this printer ?
Im curious if this printer would be good for my carpet cleaning business... I want to print out brochures, business cards and flyers, for when we need them. I hate sending these orders out, when i can do them myself.
You could print all those things with this printer just fine. Depending on how many of each you would want to do, it still may be more efficient to have a printing service do it.
Can you select the print size of your photo other than the preset sizes?
Yes, you can select custom print sizes.

Does it let you do a custom paper size? I need 4*9.5"
Yes it will let you type in whatever you need up to the max width.
I bought the 15,000 and hate it. I have gotten two replacements and both didn’t print vibrant red on any paper. Have you had any issues? I’m using it for stickers and such with my siser Juliet cutting machine.
I haven't had a color issue with the things i have tried yet. I have some vinyl sticker paper that I plan to run through it and see how well it does. Ill post an update on it after I made some runs at it.
Don't just break up the packaging and cut open the box. Faults happen and you need them to return printer.
That is true, but I have had pretty good luck with best buy.
@@PottersVinylsAndMore Yes, I have purchased my last two ink jet printers an Epson 725 (Arctic white) and an Epson ET-8500, both from Best Buy. In addition, I always buy their extended product warranty (smile...smile).
Just received mine today, tray not working, stuck, printing is impossible- not working at all😅, lovely investment 😂
I purchased one on 12/22. After one year of very light use, the paper started jamming. First the photo paper from every cassette, then regular 8.5x11 plain paper jams. After a back and forth with Epson, they sent me a refurbished replacement. I just received it today and it doesn't print. I'm getting very impatient with Epson. Just remember to register your printer. If you don't, you only get one year of warranty. Registering it gives you 2 years. I also bought an additional 1-year replacement warranty. It looks like I will need it.
Update. They’re sending a second refurbished printer. Wish me luck.
Epson is absolutely HORRIBLE with customer service. It seems they don’t stand behind their products. I’ve now had two replacements for my ET 15,000 and both didn’t work right. They refused to refund me or send a different product if I paid the difference. Thankfully the store I bought from is still taking the 15,000 back regardless of it not being the original and being past the return date (bought 60 days ago).
im looking for this printer..in white color... I need 220volts- 50-60hz... where could i possibly buy 1...
I'm not sure if the UK market has this color availble in the 220v plug. May just have to check around sites to see if anything is available to ship.

I can't seem to find a video showing how to check for paper jams on this model
The whole back piece will come off to clear any jams. I can do a quick video if I got time to
Look at the manual and remove the duplex module on the back, as if you wanted to print using the rear feeder. Then you have access to the module and can remove paper jams if it happens. It's pretty easy really.

I haven't tested all the material I have wanted to test yet. I want to run vinyl through it next with a print and cut feature through cricut and see how that works. Maybe a 1 year?

Geez...talk about wasting paper and ink just for these alignments (which have to be done each time you fire up this machine?) Let's not be perfectionists and just print away...geez!
No this is a one time ordeal, unless you travel with the machine to a different location, then I would recommend doing a print head alignment. I would recommend doing this after unboxing the printer then not worrying about it unless you have printing issues.
As far as ink goes, this isn't a drop in the bucket for these tank printers. They print thousands of pages
Ink lasts for *ages* in these printers. Printing the alignment patterns uses a very small amount of ink, you could do this hundreds and hundreds of times and be sick of it before you could see the ink go down because of it!
You can't but 8550 printheads for these printers printheads start to fail you would have to buy a whole new printer waste of money
I will do a 1 year review with this printer after i get some good use out of it. I have been printing calendars with it and so far no issues. Doesn't like to feed poster board to well from the rear feeder is all I have found so far.

Have had the smaller model of this printer the Epson ET-8500 for 18-months now, and no issues yet. However, I did buy the 4-year extended warranty from Best Buy, just in case it stops working within the next couple of years. My prior ink jet printer was an Epson Artisan 725, which lasted for about 7-years (smile...smile).
If you take good care of theses printers, they will last a long time before failing! My previous ET-2600 still works flawlessly after 5000 prints so far, and 5 years. Besides, you *can* find printheads for Epson printers, but they are almost as expensive as a new printer, even when bought directly in China so...

I haven't experienced this myself nor have I printed on card stock for trading cards. All my prints are indoors. If left outside for some time I would imagine you would get a bleaching or fading effect as I had this happen with sublimation ink.
