So far I've only ever replaced them all at once but the printer should detect the new toners fine. I'd imagine you just put them back into the proper slots from where they were removed, correct? I have the same printer and I need help, Do you know how to clean the cartridges? I keep getting blue spots on my prints. I don't know how to run a test print either, any help would be greatly appreciated. TIA
Hi Aida, not sure what could be causing the blue spots but I believe on the screen menus (scroll right) there should be an option for test printing and diagnostics, or in the sub menus. Okay, found it, it's on the touchscreen, scroll right to "Menu" then Adjustment/Maintenance > Maintenance, then various cleaning methods. Could try those at any rate!
I believe it'll recommend a color replacement. I haven't run out of this toner yet so I can't tell you for sure! Of course if a color doc and you're out of color, no luck, but if you're out of black it I think, still would need it despite mixing CMY.
I don't use much color, printer refused to print black and white because the color toners "expired" as in, out of date. Canon is a ripoff, never gonna buy canon again. All printer companies are ripping you off, but canon is on next level.
You can print in black only, even with empty color cartridges. Right-click on your Canon printer and select “Printing preferences” from the context menu. Open the “Maintenance” tab on the far right and click “Ink Cartridge Settings.” Click on the “Ink Cartridge” drop-down menu, select “Black Only” and then click “OK.”
my 'toner' light was blinking, so i order new toner cartridges. i go to swap them, and pull the old cartridge out and HOLY COW! these things have to be at LEAST 3/4 full! the warning i get is 'end of service life'. i can 'continue' to print without guaranteed results - but do you ever REALLY get guarantees anyhow? this printer does not get used heavily, we're talking MAYBE 100 pages a month on a BUSY month. Often the load is less than 50 pages a month. NO WAY this toner is bad! how do i 'reset' these toner cartridges and get rid of this error / warning? i got rid of ink jet because of our low printing demands and of course the ink was always drying out. i went with the color laser printer thinking i was taking care of that issue, as for as long as the printer is left in a dry area, that toner should practically last forever. i'll be DAMNED if i am going to replace these toner cartridges every 6 months with the level of printing i do - that is an incredible waste! WHY do manufacturers have to build in this 'planned obsolescence' in on toner cartridges? i already paid good money for the printer, and replacement toner is not cheap, only to find out i don't even need to replace the toner! i am not going to guarantee Canon a revenue stream! i just want a printer that will print until the toner is gone
Trust me Matt, I hear you on this and it is deceptive, infuriating, and frustrating. Canon certainly isn't the only one to blame but they don't mind profiting where they can of course. I believe there's a confirmation that pops up when toner is low (I've seen it when printing hundreds of flyers for a business conference), that allows you to "Keep Printing With Potentially Degraded Results". Now, I don't know how much toner is in those assemblies nor do I know the empty vs full weight to even discern if you've run out of toner, but I've pushed these on the toner level checkers to 0% and sometimes well past that (by over 50 full color pages) before I actually see faded or inaccurate colors appear. So unfortunately that's the only thing I can recommend - use them until they're for sure done despite what warnings you may see.
Hey Gates! Should just be somewhere in the menu if you need a manual reset but I've not had any issue on mine identifying the replaced toner levels upon swap.
@@TheRealLink hmm I'm using an off the shelf one non original because I'm want to save money, at the end I just took the chip off the toner and it ignores the fact that I need to replace the toner, in theory if i put the chip of the original tonner it might pick that up and still work... not sure as I haven't tried it yet.
Ah yeah that's a good point! Obviously Canon isn't the only company to smart chip their devices and hardware (most do it these days), but it makes sense about you getting it to work and can't fault you on saving a few bucks since it's expensive! Good luck should you do the swap!
Hi I want to ask you that my scanner is showing 2 colours on 10% but black one is on 40%. Do I have to change all together or just those which one are showing down and my second question is do I need to wait for going down to 0% or I have to change before the colours gonna empty? Thanks if you can help me.
Hey Jaspreet. Thanks for the questions. Of course since the toners are expensive you can probably wait until they're at 0 or close, but it's up to you if you need that color for a lot of documents beyond what 10% provides. To be used evenly and without being caught surprised, I know it's expensive but I'd recommend just changing them all at once. This way they're full together. You *can* change out just the ones you need, but again it's easy to forget about the other low one until it runs out.

Hi Mary. Sounds like some calibration is needed if you've already bought two toners. You should be able to call Canon at 1-800-OK-CANON and they can help you out.
I just dont understand how the manufacturers can expect people to continue to purchase toner/ink that cost more than the printer itself? MSRP for 4 set of toner from canon is $400. The printer was $250! I guess its my fault for not researching the cost, but I feel like the manufacturers purposefully make portions not work properly without their OEM cartridges. Its akin to getting the oil changed in your car without a factory filter means that the change oil light cant be turned off and the manufacturer wont accept warranty claims.
Hey Wilee, yeah I do agree. While I do lower volume printing it's usually more formalized client contractual work so I prefer the sharpness and vibrance of laser. But you're right, if you're doing a ton of printing in volume you'll burn through toner pretty fast. Thankfully my toner sets last a long time (1-2 years) so the huge cost outlay isn't quite as much a slap in the face. But short of using the giant refill canisters or other brands, it is what it is until companies are pressured to change their "quick" for profit designs.
That's normal. I believe the toners still use a small amount of color for calibration even if you print in black and white. Call it testing or burning through your color as a sales scam but either way it is frustrating ... eventually. The color does last awhile though, IMO.

my 'toner' light was blinking, so i order new toner cartridges. i go to swap them, and pull the old cartridge out and HOLY COW! these things have to be at LEAST 3/4 full! the warning i get is 'end of service life'. i can 'continue' to print without guaranteed results - but do you ever REALLY get guarantees anyhow? this printer does not get used heavily, we're talking MAYBE 100 pages a month on a BUSY month.
How do I re set the tonner?
You *can* change out just the ones you need, but again it's easy to forget about the other low one until it runs out.
thanks for your great review ,your follower from jordan ❤🤟🏼🔥 , i would ask you ! just one cartilage his price is 100 $ , (skyrocketing )price , the question is : how much paper does this cartilage prints ( black cartilage )
It seems to be 1,200 pages regular and 2-3K+ with the high yield version.
hi, i just change new cartridge for my printer, but colour print not correct.. i bought original canon cartridge. colour print not print correct colour

Np!
I legit don’t even print in color and it seems like my color runs out of nowhere
That's normal. I believe the toners still use a small amount of color for calibration even if you print in black and white. Call it testing or burning through your color as a sales scam but either way it is frustrating ... eventually. The color does last awhile though, IMO.
thanks mate
No problem!
