You are the man! After watching your video I went with this printer and couldn’t be happier, I also used your set up guide from the video. Thank you for such a great to the point review!
Just what I needed and setup was a breeze. Got a great deal on this printer on Amazon and the color is more vibrant than the big Canon IR we have in the office. Thanks for a comprehensive and brief video- nicely done!
I’ve never watched a review and made a decision to purchase so quickly. Thank you for the excellent video, purchased through your links and will be checking out the rest of your channel!
I was able to learn things about image quality, operating sound, ease of use, etc. that I could not find on the website, which helped me in my purchase. Thank you very much.
This is by far THE ONLY video I’ve found that show coloured print out UP CLOSED with digital files compared. Just what I’ve been searching for thank you so much! After several months of use, do you still like it? I need a new printer asap.
Yes! This is our primary home office printer and it meets all of our needs and the print quality is great. We haven't had to replace any of the start cartridges yet, but these days we're doing a lot less physical documents and mostly sending stuff electronically. When we do need paper copies, the printer is reliable and fast; our old printer constantly had wireless connection issues, but this one works flawlessly so far.
@@ReviewedByPhil that’s great to hear! I found a similar model to this one but ink cartridges are hard to find so I’m opting for a different model which is a bit cheaper but easy to find ink. I’m not very familiar with laser printer, is it normal for the print out to look dusty? For example graphic with white background, when printing out the paper will have a gray dusty look to it. I had to return a refurbished Xerox 7855 last week because of this.
Hey Phil, Great review! What do you recommend between Canon Color imageClass MF753CDW Laser Printer OR HP Color Jet ProM479FDW Laser Printer? I need something for Home/ Office use all in one printer. Please suggest! Thanks :)
Thank you very much for this video. I am curious if other Canon in this series such as the 642 and 644 has the option of using aftermarket toners, as you showed at 7:15 in the video. Thanks for your help.
printing images could be improved by a density setting in the canon printer? Thought I saw it somewhere .. I'm on the hunt for a new printer, would like to know :)
Great review. #1 question. Is it possible to disable automatic updates on this printer #2 Its possible to use it without being connected to the internet without any problems? i just want printer that is not connected to the internet so no harmfull updates disable it from functioning like HP did to their printers.
#3 question, if the printer touch screen breaks for any reason is it possible to use it with a pc interface or its just unusable? Im asking so much because im really about to buy this, but want to know some more. Thx for your time :)
Sure, here are the answers to the best of my knowledge: 1. While I didn't see a setting to specifically turn off automatic updating, if the computer is not connected to the internet via WiFi or Ethernet then automatic updates cannot be performed. 2. Yes, you can use this printer completely disconnected from the internet, either via the USB cable to a computer or using an internal LAN with you devices that is offline e.g. WiFi Direct-Connect or a sub-network that does not have internet access 3. Yes, but with some limitations. Without the LCD touchscreen you can still print and scan from your devices or a USB thumb drive e.g. send a print job from your computer or mobile phone or initiate a scan from those devices. However, you will lose the ability to make photocopies as this function is only executable at the control panel as well as use of the walk-up USB port for printing and scanning.
Good afternoon, I need to know if you can tell me how to scan several documents as a single pdf file? When I scan several sheets it makes the pdf too large to attach to an invoice into my Quickbooks program. My Quickbooks only allows a 2mb attachment. I would like to attach several receipts to an invoice without exceeding that amount.
Thank you for the clear review. I jumped through some parts. I am considering purchasing this model for a home office. How does it print envelopes? Ease of printing envelopes is important to me.
Envelopes will be loaded in front the manual paper tray at the front (the door that pulls down, see 1:18). Then, when printing from your word processing or mail merge program where you have your names and addresses (like Microsoft Word), you'll select the envelope size you're using in the print dialog.
Thank you for your review. I wanted to buy the printer canon mf655cdw but I wanted to know if I can use it to print on glossy paper, sticker paper … Because I used to have inkjet printer but if I didn’t use it for a while the head of the printer will be damaged. So they recommended me to buy laser printer.
Yes, absolutely. Just be sure to buy paper types that are specifically compatible with laser printers, like this: geni.us/rr9zOj [Amazon Affiliate Product Link]. It will say on the packaging.
Just a heads up. We have that printer, and the colors are wayyyyyyyy off. It's probably not as noticeable at first, but even in your video there is a gigantic difference between print and original digital image. This is unfortunately most apparent in brownish hues (I. E. Skintones ). Warm light brown prints a gray. Light greens also often print as gray, light pink prints as purple. So you would think its not enough yellow in the mix... And yet, after 6 months of moderate amounts of printing, my yellow cartridge is running so low my printer is telling me to get a new one ready.
Yes, you can print labels and stickers, whether from the manual load front tray or main paper tray on the bottom. Just be sure to select the correct paper type when printing so it can get the layout correct.
@@ReviewedByPhil Thank you for reply. I only need to print on matt white labels and tried to search for video for canon on youtube. If you can help me with square matt labels can fit this printer would be really appreciated
Phil, fantastic video. I just picked one up Saturday. I do have a question for you. Can or have you printed photos on photopaper? if so, do you load it face down or up? Thank you!!
Any chance of finding a tutorial on the Remote UI. I'm a curious guy and like to know all the features a device has, like the address book and favorites, Still looking into the multipurpose tray. Was as bit disappointed how the scanner replicated photos though. Scanned a glossy photo that turned out dull.
HP might have some video tutorials on the UI, but I haven't looked into it. In general, the gloss finish won't be possible to replicate on plain paper, however, if you use specialized glossy photo paper, you might be able to get a closer match for the finish as there is a gloss coating embedded in the paper, like this one: geni.us/rr9zOj [Amazon Affiliate Product Link]
Thanks for the great video. I am trying to install the software. I have a Windows 11...and also a Windows 10 laptop. Must the 10 machine get the software too? Also...do I need to find the drivers again but made for the 10...or will my 11 install file do ok on the 10 machine?
Yes, each computer will need to install the drivers to use the printer. Canon may have different versions of the software for the different version of Windows, so to be sure, check their website's software and driver's download page for this printer. It'll ask you to select (or auto-detect) your version of Windows and then provide you with the link to download the appropriate software.
Thank you Phil for the informative review. Regarding scanning to PDF, the Canon software for my old MX850 would allow for page deletion or page rotation before saving the doc as a new PDF. So you'd scan your pages, then have the option to review/manipulate them a bit before they were saved as a new PDF. Is this operation still possible with the new software? If no, can you suggest a work around? Your thoughts greatly appreciated!
No, I didn't see the option to edit/manipulate the scanned documents after they've been scanned, however, there's a limited set of actions you can pre-define for the scan upfront prior to scanning like: skip blank pages, divide pages into separate documents, change PDF type (e.g. OCR), set orientation landscape/portrait, etc. If these don't meet your needs, then you would need to edit them using software after scanning, like Adobe Acrobat. There are some free tools online too that are useful and I sometimes use PDFresizer which has merge, crop, and split capabilities, if you need to combine documents or remove pages.
Thank you for sharing this is very helpful. However, do you happen to know HOW TO scan and send to Email (using address book/typed in both ways)...? I get the "cannot send e-mails. Email/I-Fax Settings are not configured in Remote UI. For more information, contact the system manager." I called Canon customer service on hold for 55 min. and 35min and disconnected. Chatbox does not have enough options and cannot be typed in our issues at all. We DL and READ the manual and followed step by step but no solutions...If you know how to, please share it with us. Thank you in advance.
I have exactly the same issue. I just bought my Cannon 753CDW yesterday and received the same error message that you mentioned. Did you figure it out? Any insight would be great.
It looks like you'll have to configure a "send from" e-mail address in the remote UI first. To access the remote UI, you'll need the printer's IP address. From its onboard LCD, touch the WiFi icon on the bottom-right, select TCP/IP settings -> IPv4 settings -> IP address settings -> Check settings. Then enter the IP address found in this screen (typically something like 192.168.100.100) into the URL address bar of a web browser from a computer on the same network as the printer. Then follow the instructions from Canon, here: oip.manual.canon/FAQ01-0510-zz-SSM_n4-enUS/contents/cmcont-qa-scan_mail.html You'll want to configure [Settings/Registration]. When you have logged in to System Manager Mode, you can change the settings items and save/load the registered data.
Sorry I got the same printer Canon colour image but I can’t get wireless from my phone. It used to be working now it’s not working. I tried everything. What do you think you think I should reset it to the factory setting and come back please tell me what to do. I’ll be really appreciate. Thank you.
Hm, usually if a networked feature like wireless printing used to work but now it doesn't, it indicates a change in the network that can usually be resolved by resetting the printer to factory default and setting it up on the network again.
For the document feeder, you said it would accept up to "11 x 14 or legal side". However, legal size is 8.5 x 14. Is that what you meant? I'm looking for a laser jet printer/scanner that will accept larger sized paper so I'd REALLY appreciate an answer. Thanks.
New MF656Cdw. What are symbols on the touch screen? Also am in a loop on the touch screen, when I hit application library guide, it goes to a definition ALG, there is no END button. Can't get to the other applications??
Does your printer make a humming or whirring noise when it wakes up but no printing? (Eg. when you touch the touch screen to go through any menu options etc)
Could someone tell me if high-end laser printer prints images and photos of quality like a default inkjet printer? Or would an inkjet still be better even than an expensive laser?
So far, I am LOVING this printer except for one little hiccup.. it is leaving a crease down the center of my page. It's not a huge deal for just my office docs, but when I print on something like a waterslide paper, the ink smears and will wipe right off at that crease. I just don't know what to do.
Weird, I haven't experienced this issue myself, though my first thought would be to ask if you're using a lightweight paper? The most common is 20 lb copy paper, but if you're using 17 or 18 lb paper (e.g. eco-paper), you may need to change the feed roller pressure settings. You can try this: on the printer's LCD swipe left, tap "Paper Settings" -> "Tray 1" -> "LTR" -> scroll up and select "Plain 1 (17-19 lb)" If you still get the wrinkle, it sounds like there could be a physical issue with the rollers, perhaps they have a bend or are misaligned in a way that pinches the paper as it feeds through. In this case, it'd be a manufacturing defect and if you're still under warranty I'd reach out to Canon as they would probably just replace the unit for you. Best of luck!
does this printer have an autoscan function, with automatic paper feed, as shown in the video copy function, 7.45 minutes, need to order one from the office, really need such a function, so as not to turn over each sheet of paper separately
Yes, the automatic document feeder can be used for scanning and can scan both sides of a 2-sided document in a single pass, so you do not have to manually turn pages over. You simply need to turn on the 'Scan both sides when scanning from the feeder' option in the Canon MF Scan Utility.
Was wondering if had clever scan, so it knows if one or two pages, and also, if scanning a few pages together, it doesn’t save any blanks in a pdf if some pages are double sided and some are not.
Very nice video. I just purchased this printer and I am very satisfied. Very crisp clean and super fast printing. One question though: I skipped over the "color calibration" step ( @ 2:44) when I initially setup my printer. I've had my printer for 4 days now. How do I go back and perform the color calibration? ALSO: Is it best to use the same type/weight paper that I intend to use for color printing when I perform this calibration? Thanks.
Steps to perform calibration: 1. On the operation panel, press [Menu] in the [Home] screen. [Home] Screen 2. Press [Adjustment/Maintenance] [Adjust Image Quality] [Auto Adjust Gradation] 3. Press [Full Adjust], then Press [Start] The recommended paper types for calibration (by Canon) are Plain 1-3 or Recycled 1-2
069 or 069H toner cartridges fit this printer. The H indicates a high-capacity cartridge, versus a standard capacity so will produce more pages over its lifespan.
I have this printer but cannot figure out how to print the full color on an 8.5" sheet for a FULL Bleed prints. I am making notebook covers. Can you tell me what to choose? Thanks
In general, I don't believe consumer laser printers are able to produce full bleed prints, as I've only heard of this capability for inkjet printers in a non-commercial application. You may be able to approximate this by printing on A4 size paper and trimming the edges down to 8.5x11 letter size, however, I haven't tried it, so I can't say for sure this would give you the desired result, given that the paper size is only slightly larger and may not give you enough bleed margin to work with.
I'm having trouble connecting my MacBook Air Laptop to the Canon ImageClass 753Cdw. I cannot get past the firmware update. I'm not sure what's wrong? Do you have any advice for fixing this?
Yes, it can print 2-sided when initiating printing from a computer or smartphone. Just make sure to choose 2-sided in the printer options/page setup when the print dialog pops up.
Hello - we have this exact printer and it was working just fine for a few months. Now we always have to physically walk in and press the Moon button to wake it up in order to print. This is so frustrating as it makes being able to send something to the printer impossible without having to physically go in and wake it up. I cannot seem to find a solution to this anywhere. Can you help? Thank you!
I can try! First, I'll need some more information. What kind of device are you printing from, a Windows PC, MacOS device, Android or iPhone? Are you printing over a WiFi network, and if so, are your devices hard-wired or wireless?
Can you use aftermarket toner with black and white laser printers and if it spells their won't be a problem because they don't have TB(transfer belts) like color Lazer printer that can break. How do you clean it up though?😂
No, I don't think it's any noisier than Brother printers. On par with what I expected from a laser printer. and yes it can scan duplex legal size in a single pass when using the ADF tray on top.
Sorry but it’s way noisier, there is a loud humming or buzzing noise whenever the screen comes on, even when not printing, basically anything that’s not complete off/ standby, eg it’s very very loud, when you are using the keypad, even when not printing, or downloading a firmware. The sound lasts at least one minute after the printer doing anything at all, so it would be so much better to turn it off and 8k to standby in seconds rather than minutes after a print or a click (although no sound from printer when in standby), it’s actually much louder than my brother which doesn’t make a sound unless it’s printing.
It sounds like there is a hardware issue with one of the rollers/gears or a sensor and you may need to send it to a technician for repair. I'm sorry, I don't know enough about the error to guide you through it. You can go here to create a Canon account: myprofile.americas.canon.com/us/support Register your product by entering it's model and serial number. If it's under warranty you can send it to any Canon authorized service centers near you.
How do you adjust the resolution for the printouts to the printer's max resolution, 1200x1200? It's set at "Normal" resolution, which is only 300 DPI and I can't find a setting in the menu to adjust the print resolution.
The DPI setting can be found here in the menu tree of the printer's control panel: [Menu] [Function Settings] [Printer] [Printer Settings] [Print Quality]
069 or 069H toner cartridges fit this printer. The H indicates a high-capacity cartridge, versus a standard capacity so will produce more pages over its lifespan.
1. Select [Copy] 2. Select [Density] on the LCD from the options along the top. 3. Drag the slider to the left or right to adjust the brightness or press [+] to increase the brightness and [-] to lower it. 4. Press [Color or B&W Start] to complete your print. If initiating the print from your computer: A. In the print dialog popup, click [Properties] B. Click on the [Quality] tab. C. Click [Advanced Settings] D. Select [Toner Density]. E. Change the dropdown from "Printer Default" to "Adjust" F. Click [Details] G. Adjust the sliders for the toner color(s) that are appearing too dark for you (or all of them if you think it's across the board).
I did, I was using USB cable to connect to computer and the printer message "connect to computer" which it doesn't work. I changed to printer cable. Thanks for reply@@ReviewedByPhil
Yes, but you have to print each size separately. You can select the specific envelope size in the print dialog from your application (e.g. Microsoft Word) at the time of printing.
Im deciding between this and the single function 674CDW. It uses the same 069 tober catridges as the multi function 753. Print quality is the same. My question is, why is the single function printer more expensive?!
I wish it had more qualitative evaluation of the color image printing and less description of the features. Especially compared to the image quality of other printers

You can try this: on the printer's LCD swipe left, tap "Paper Settings" -> "Tray 1" -> "LTR" -> scroll up and select "Plain 1 (17-19 lb)"
If you still get the wrinkle, it sounds like there could be a physical issue with the rollers, perhaps they have a bend or are misaligned in a way that pinches the paper as it feeds through.
How do I clear the status monitor for the print job log
Very nice video. I just purchased this printer and I am very satisfied. Very crisp clean and super fast printing. One question though: I skipped over the "color calibration" step ( @ 2:44) when I initially setup my printer. I've had my printer for 4 days now. How do I go back and perform the color calibration? ALSO: Is it best to use the same type/weight paper that I intend to use for color printing when I perform this calibration? Thanks.
Steps to perform calibration:
1. On the operation panel, press [Menu] in the [Home] screen. [Home] Screen
2. Press [Adjustment/Maintenance] [Adjust Image Quality] [Auto Adjust Gradation]
3. Press [Full Adjust], then Press [Start]
The recommended paper types for calibration (by Canon) are Plain 1-3 or Recycled 1-2

WHAT TONNERS IS NEEDED ON THIS PRINTER ? 067 H OR 069 H ? CAN YOU DO A VIDEO ON THE TONERS FOR THIS PRINTER PLZ ?
069 or 069H toner cartridges fit this printer. The H indicates a high-capacity cartridge, versus a standard capacity so will produce more pages over its lifespan.
How do I set up for fax confirmation sheet to automatically print with each fax?
How fast does it consume cartridge’s ?
How do I adjust the brightness?
Does it print on both sides?
Can't find refference to that only for copy in canon website
Yes, you can use after market toner. I've never had a problem with spilt toner, so I'm not sure.

Setting is not right while printing images
Does it make more noise compared to Brother printers?
Can it scan duplex legal pages? (Single Pass)
The sound lasts at least one minute after the printer doing anything at all, so it would be so much better to turn it off and 8k to standby in seconds rather than minutes after a print or a click (although no sound from printer when in standby), it’s actually much louder than my brother which doesn’t make a sound unless it’s printing.
could you link the website where you downloaded the drivers
You can find the drivers here: www.usa.canon.com/support/p/color-imageclass-mf753cdw
Im getting a E077-0001 error how do i fix this error ive heard somthing that its a locking lever error if so where is this located
The DPI setting can be found here in the menu tree of the printer's control panel:
[Menu] [Function Settings] [Printer] [Printer Settings] [Print Quality]
WHAT TONERS DO YOU USE ON THIS PRINTER PLZ ?
069 or 069H toner cartridges fit this printer. The H indicates a high-capacity cartridge, versus a standard capacity so will produce more pages over its lifespan.
I don't have a computer can I set this up without a computer and print from my smart phone
Yes
Does the ADR allow you to scan multiple double-sided pages in a single scan?
Yes, you can load in a stack of up to 50 sheets in the ADF for automatic dual-sided scanning.

How to set up scan to computer, file or email, what setting i need to do
You have to install the Canon Scan Utility software on the computer that you want to scan to: www.usa.canon.com/support/p/color-imageclass-mf753cdw
I did, I was using USB cable to connect to computer and the printer message "connect to computer" which it doesn't work. I changed to printer cable. Thanks for reply@@ReviewedByPhil
Does this not have scan to email and scan to USB?
Yes, it has both these functions. See 6:08.
I can't figure out connecting it so i can use it as a fax
can this print on envelopes of various sizes?
Yes, but you have to print each size separately. You can select the specific envelope size in the print dialog from your application (e.g. Microsoft Word) at the time of printing.
Great Printer for $299. If you buy the Cannon print cartridges' expect to pay over $500 !
Can i scan, copy , print without computer?
Yes, if you want to scan to and print from a mobile device. Copying can be done at the machine without connecting to another device.
Im deciding between this and the single function 674CDW. It uses the same 069 tober catridges as the multi function 753.
Print quality is the same.
My question is, why is the single function printer more expensive?!
Review appreciated! I know the Color imageCLASS MF654Cdw isn't as powerful but do you think it would deliver the same color print quality?
Sorry, I'm not sure. Without seeing it in person, I'd hate to speculate.
No worries I'll call Canon!
No problem thanks!
Can you turn off the beeping noise it makes after printing?
Does it have a scanner
Yes
Now if I could just KEEP my Canon 644 online so I can print from my tablet, that would be nice!
I wish it had more qualitative evaluation of the color image printing and less description of the features. Especially compared to the image quality of other printers
Printing too dark....
Would you be able to donate printer to a church?
Probably depends where is your church?
You can donate to my church. 😊
Thanks for you it's so helpful good well ❤️🩹 but i have a issue how can i contact with you ?
Can you use cardstock in this printer?
does this work well with photo paper?
