Update: The motor mechanism was defective. I returned it to the store and got a new one with no problems.
These models are such pieces of shit. Been through 4 of them
Ouch. Wish I knew this. Maybe others can heed the warning.
I have personally installed 20 of these and 7 of them have been defective and have this same problem. Rehanding the lock won't work. I use brand new Duracell batteries
