Quick Mill Arnos - Pulling a Shot

Ran that a little too hot, but temp through coffee bed is lower that temp at thermometer. Resulted in a pleasant double shot, with only slight bitterness.

Vitamix stopped working, motor brush fix
Thanks. Great video saved me $
These models are such pieces of shit. Been through 4 of them
Ouch. Wish I knew this. Maybe others can heed the warning.
I have personally installed 20 of these and 7 of them have been defective and have this same problem. Rehanding the lock won't work. I use brand new Duracell batteries
My blade is feels tight. It makes big noise. Can you help me
Great tip, so how to fix overeheated brush? Motor? I t broke on a white cheese which wasn't so thick but it broke maybe I left too low speed for Kotor to go through it faster and it burned😔 any idea if I can replace any part to fix it? I miss my smoothies ..
How did you remove the carafe engagement gear thingy?? (You skipped the hard part!!)
For my version of this blender, there was no hard part; the spindle (gear thingy) pulled right out. However, other commenters to this video mentioned the need to remove a screw. Read those comments and hopefully it will apply to your version of this blender.
Update: The motor mechanism was defective. I returned it to the store and got a new one with no problems.
How do you remove the middle piece?
I wiss i could do that, but i just got carpal tunnel surgery from cutting too much sheet metal....
Lol, it is not 4 screws and voila! There are more steps to get that top off that I need to see. How did you get off the spindle? How did you get off the casing? I feel like a monkey banging on it with a hammer. I think they make it hard on purpose.
Hi can you share the link to buy the tools
Very cool.
If I cannot locate the simple carbon brush set anywhere, I will be switching brands. Interesting enough they sell refurbished ones though.
They just replace the motor on the refurbished blenders. That cuts down on warranty problems.
I have a similar Vitamix Explorian model that has the same teardown. Bought it used on Ebay but it had a live roach so I wanted to take it apart for inspection and cleaning. Excellent instructions. Thank you for posting!
Thank you sir for posting this video, my Vitamix 5200 quit working last night when I was making a frozen strawberry ice cream dessert. I truly have enjoyed using this machine, and it always seemed to be a solid workhorse, but last night I could actually smell something that seemed to be overheating when I was using it. I turned it on this morning and it worked, so hopefully I didn't hurt it and it was just the thermal protection circuit that had engaged, anyway, thank you for your video and the visual references of the internal workings, very much appreciative.
I have same machine. Documentation for it is a bit limited. Have you been keeping the PID temp at 255?
I keep mine at 261F, run a 17 second flush initially, and the brew head is at around 200F after that. Really depends on the ambient temperature of the room.
T@@leafyleafyleaf Thanks for posting! Any quality control issues like leaks etc? how long it takes to heat up 6 oz of milk? How is the build quality ? Thank you!
@@nik0001-d6i It is a solidly built machine. No quality issues. Heats up 6oz of milk in roughly 30 seconds, but this depends on how hot you set the boiler, of course.
Hi Jagan, thanks for this video. I’m wondering if you can point me towards a tutorial for replacing the Vitamix power cord. I haven’t seen one yet. Thanks!
What is the model of this motor?
5200
Hi, how has the consistency of brew temperature been for you? Also, how has your overall experience with the Arnos been? Sorry for all the questions, I just put in an order for one. 😅
Temperature has been solid! Same with brew consistency. I just do a timed cooling flush to get the temperature down before I pull my first shot. I have zero regrets!
Where can you buy new brushes?
Jagan you are the man! This fixed my issue, thank you so much for this awesome video. Great video and instructions, you rock!!!
Haha, thanks! Glad it worked for you as well!!
Not sure if you'll see this, but huge thanks to your vid. I just moved and my vitamix stopped working during the move and it had been rock solid for 10 years prior so I knew something broke and I had convinced myself it was a wire connection or switch somewhere but everything I checked was coming up fine. I figured the brush connections so far down in there had to be fine, but sure enough one wasn't and while I'd love to believe I would have had figured it out eventually, this vid convinced me to check them real quick and sure enough one was messed up so thanks again as lord knows how long I would have taken to get to checking that naturally.
With regards to your comments that the spindle just basically comes out is not entirely correct. The spindle is in fact held in place by a small hex screw that you gain access from a hole that is filled with silicone. The silicone must be removed and you line up the hole for the hex screw by rotating the spindle. The hex screw is 5/64”.
This guy gets it. That spindle absolutely did not just "come off" of my machine. Had to rotate it so the arrow on top pointed to the opening, remove some silicone, and then use the 5/64" Allen/hex key to loosen the set screw. THEN it came off.
Thank you *_so_* much! I was wondering how he just managed to pop this off with seemingly no trouble... 🥴
Any idea how to disassemble a Vitamix 3600 motor so that I can troubleshoot the same issue? I took the rubber off the base and removed the four screws, but I'm not sure what's next.
Did you find an answer?? I think the brushes on mine are bad.
@@juanitamoore504 Unfortunately, I didn't. A friend was going to look at it, but had to travel out of state.
@@naomiAcronym Bummer! Think the brushes on the one I have are shot, so I'ma gonna try to fix it myself.
@@juanitamoore504 If you do, can you video taking it apart?
@@naomiAcronym I'll see what I can do.
Awesome. Miss you guys ❤️
can you list the link to get the parts? Thanks
Update: Two years since this fix and the Vitamix is still going strong. Like some people have mentioned, I might need to replace (or at least rotate) the carbon brush if the Vitamix ever stops working again.
My 5000 is 17 years old. Still running but bad motor smell. Got it mostly apart, drive socket, etc. came off with ease but the top did not come off like on your 5200.... I may be able to get to the brushes without pulling the motor. Good to know yours is still going strong!
Looks like your spring is up against the brush housing and as soon as you use a mm or so of the brush the spring will no longer be exerting pressure on the carbon of the brush. May result in poor contact with the commutator of the armature and cause your machine to work erratically or not at all. May have to replace the carbon of the brush. I am looking for these myself and cannot find them . Vita Mix are useless to help service these things and want me to send the machine back at great expense, before they even start work on it. Am going to look at other mixers. Be well.
It's been 2 years...did you find a replacement for the brushes, carbon, springs?
hi. i have a vita-mixer maxi-4000 that throws out sparks when i run it. what do u think might b the problem & is it an ez fix?
How to know it's the manual switch the thermal secure or motor?
First I determined that it was not the thermal overload protector, because that resets itself when it cools down. Next, I had an electric multimeter tool that confirmed that the mechanical switch was working properly. Finally, I just visually inspected the motor and noticed that one of the brushes was damaged.
How did you remove the spindle? did you simply pry it off?
Yes, that black mat on the top of the Vitamix just pries off easily.
Yes
My vitamix stopped working. When in try to turn it on it just won’t do anything. I’m going to open it and check out the brushes
