Not only is she a metal head, but she knows and can feel the energy in the oldies. You got yourself a good genuine lady next to you bro.
Oh my god YES. Lol! Runaround Sue is great too. If you listen to his voice in that song it has some fairly strong beginnings/roots of almost a punk rock sound/attitude as well, sort of a growling at some points.
Yes that’s a good song, Dion DiMucci had a great voice, he definitely makes my top 20 list of favorite vocalists 🤘🏽
Him and George Thorogood have that cool type of voice🤘
I believe that Runaround Sue turned him into the Wanderer.
one of the best songs of that era.this was cutting edge. loved it.
The Future of his time
Back in high school before he died, one of my buddies did this at our talent show. RIP Travis I still remember your awesome performance to this day
When I think of those days I always think of Elvis owning this niche. The Young somewhat borderline risque guy. Let the ladies love. Did this guy die at a young age? I've heard of this guy and I've heard this track before. My mom was a little girl and loved this guy. It just seems like he would have been some serious competition for Elvis based on the charisma I can hear in the way she annunciates and sings this track. I've heard run around Sue before. Can you fill in the dots if you were around back in those days? Even if you weren't around you obviously know more about him than me. Obviously Elvis has all that charisma and that beautiful voice and he has looks which helped him stick around. Elvis was one of a kind, but this guy seems like he had every reason to stay around for years and same thing goes for the righteous Brothers. It could have been the British invasion that came and Elvis just happened to be making movies at that time so he was able to keep his popularity through that time but I'm just guessing
@@choice12ozborne my buddy Travis in West Virginia did this song at our school talent show and died not much later
I wish I could've seen that live
This song had a bit of a resurgence after it was used on the Fallout 4 playlist for the lone radio station in the nuclear wastelands. My son loves this song and he’s a young teenager and loves old tunes from the 40s and 50s because of that game
fallout did this to me too, i'm 24 and i never would have heard any of these amazing classic songs if they hadn't been included in a videogame i played.
30 here and I fell in love with this music thanks to Fallout 3 15 years ago when I was a teenager.
I have always loved this song! Total 50’s vibes. So catchy 😀
Song was actually from 1961
True but it does give a 50’s vibe.
@@debratroeak77 I know what you mean, the early 60s still had that 50s vibe..
Maybe because it came out in the 50s….
@@Nashalbeth "The Wanderer" is a song written by Ernie Maresca and originally recorded by Dion, released on his 1961 album Runaround Sue. The song, with a 12-bar blues-base verse and an eight-bar bridge, tells the story of a travelling man and his many loves. The song is ranked number 243 on the Rolling Stone magazine's list of The 500 Greatest Songs of All Time.[1].....
It's amazing what a great sound they used to achieve on old records like this - the DRUMS in particular always sound far more REAL and have impact without all the digital treatment. It's interesting that studios still prefer to record drums to TAPE before the digital processing. I think the ROOM is a big part of the sound on older records - you can hear it on a lot of Bill Haley type rock n roll classics. And when a wedding party is flagging, only two people dancing to the latest tracks, the old rock n roll seems to get the floor filled with kids, mums, dads, granny, ... I used to accompany a great female DJ to all her gigs and it just seems like what people REALLY want is the old cheesy classics - unless it's a very young crowd. It's great to watch the dancefloor full, dancing to BILL HALEY etc ... me, I'd be glued to my chair, chair dancing i guess!
This song takes me back to my childhood, my mother would have stuff like this playing on the stereo, sometimes on vinyl, sometimes the radio, sometimes cassette tape compilations. Doing chores while mom baked or cooked dinner. Thanks for this.
This takes me back to killing ghouls in the wastes of the Commonwealth
Stray Cat Strut would always come up after this song ;)
That’s crazy because for a whole new generation this song takes us back to our childhood playing the greatest video game series ever
This song as used extensively in one of my favorite movies. The Wanderers 1979 with Ken Wahl and Karen Allen. Wonderful music in a great film!
Great flick
@@chazvasquez2901 second that.( don't f**k with the baldies).
There's a great movie called The Wanderers featuring this tune about an Italian street gang back in the early 60's, it's pretty cool, can't hear this song without remembering it.
Ken Wahl… he starred in the TV show Wiseguy. Season 1 is one of my favorite TV shows
Don't mess with the baldies
@@salvatoreperitore7884 don’t fuck with the Wongs
"Leave the kid alone."
My parents were personal friends with Dion. They all grew up in The Boogie Down Bronx NY. I met him many times, great guy!
You would really enjoy his #1 hit from 1961, “Runaround Sue”.
100%
Yes, the theme of Runaround Sue is the exact opposite of The Wanderer, he did a switch-up! There's also a super-cute video that's been going around for years of a granny dancing to Runaround Sue.
@@SK-lk3iu in The Wanderer he says that he’s “happy as a clown.” I think this is a clue that he’s actually not happy living in the way he describes in the song. This perhaps is because of the heartbreak experienced in “Runaround Sue”
I was 13
This was possibly the "coolest" song of its time.
far cooler than the average pop song of the past 25 years
Dion has seen and done about everything in Rock. Fun Fact: He was part of the Winter Dance Tour bill, with Buddy Holly, Richie Valens and the Big Bopper. Dion and The Belmonts was his band then.
Good thing he wasn't on that airplane.
he was there but not a part of the Buddy Holly Band
Waylon Jennings was tho..and Tommy Alsop:)
@@crzyasylm8340 Waylon was supposed to be on the airplane but gave up his seat!
Dion's story is that when Buddy Holly told him the cost - He realized that's how much his mom paid for rent - way too much money. So he gave up his seat.
@@sue08401 How interesting, thank you!
Dion DiMucci's "Abraham, Martin and John" is a total departure from what he did with the Belmonts... Such a talented and inspiring individual...
Iconic early Rock and Roll classic from the man that was so famous, he went by just one name, Dion.
He is still putting out music today..his voice is still just as awesome..He is here on youtube..great blues guy !!!
A song you should do by Dion is “Abraham, Martin and John” he wrote it right after the killings of MLK and Bobby Kennedy. Great song.
Great song!
I
Smokey Robinson does his version of that song and its great too.
That song makes me cry every time I hear it.
I was a child of the '60's and 70's, and had older parents that HATED rock music. They called it "hippy music" and "yeah-yeah music", etc..
So, to get my rock & roll kicks as a youngester, I'd listen to a radio station that played '50's rock and Do-Wop, and lots of Motown. I still love the music! :)
*Cool interview with Dion- ruclips.net/video/I8mYHZuqg6A/видео.html
When the Beatles came out my dad said they were "scum".
@@elevenbucks5682 I think my dad called them "degenerates". :)
Dion had a lot of hits! Glad to see you touch on this Era.... Plenty more from that time frame if you're interested! 👍👍
Dion is an awesome blues singer and guitarist. I have a cd from the early 2000s that is all old school blues. Just him and an acoustic guitar. A really talented guy
I have that cd . had a 4 disc set of his and my 1granddaughter went nuts over it . I'm 78 and grew up in the 50's . great music encompassing all genres .
That is a Golden Oldie what a great song
Finally a song that Brad doesn’t have to ask “What’s this song about”!
Listen to “Runaround Sue” then you’ll see why he’s The Wanderer. Lol.
Yes! Dion is one of my all time favorites. Runaround sue is another classic
Dion came back in 2020 as a blues artist. He’s as cool as a jewel.
He’s been doing blues since day one.
One of my ALL TIME FAVS. 🎼🎶
One of my favorite artist as a kid. It’s great that you guys are checking him out!
The guy runs around here. This hit #2, as a followup to the song "Runaround Sue", which is about a woman running around, which hit #1. For something completely different, try Dion's beautiful "Abraham, Martin and John".
Abraham, Martin, and John is an absolute gem!!!
You two got me lmao😂😂😂 it's great watching you two do reactions. Keep it up🤗
Didn't know the name of this band...sure as hell recognize the song though...all time classic!!
Dion is still active in the music business…he’s releasing blues collaborations with the likes of Joe Bonomosa,Jeff Beck, Brian Setzer & Billy Gibbons.
"Crimson and Clover" by Tommy James and the shondells. Really good song.
The dances were so cool, he always got em, on the floor!
If you want a completely different take on Dion--especially with MLK Day coming up on Monday--react to his 1968 classic, "Abraham, Martin and John". The three names represent, Lincoln, King and Kennedy.
Great song
No I need to go check that one out because I've never heard of it. Were you guys around back then? I know my mama liked this guy when she was a little girl
@choice12osborne2. Yeah, I do. Nov 22, 1963, I was in my 2nd grade classroom just after lunch. We heard a commotion out in the hallway when my teacher was called out of the room, door half open..they were upset. The person she was talked walked away crying. We were not told why, but that the class was over and to go home. For those that needed to call their parents arrangements would be made. I walked home just a few blocks away. My mom was home(baking cookies..really!) with my little brother. I explained what happened...she turned on the radio, JFK had been assasinated. I can’t say what I was doing when RFK and MLK were killed other than being home at the time. The song always gets to me. 😢
Another dion song Ruby Baby, one of my favs
Great Jam! There was a movie title The Wanderers (1979) starring Ken Wahl in which the gangs sing this song. Check out some more Dion. 🤙
I remember that movie.
"Leave the kid alone!"

Every time I watch this channel, you both make me happy! I love your smile!
I went to art college with his daughter, stayed at his home in Florida. Very amazing man, dealt with some serious drug addiction, found god etc. Such a cool cat!
Still going strong. Just came out with a new album of blues called "Stomping Ground"
Hi....there are no words...so much fun. Love it. Love you guys
i love seeing how much joy Lex experiences hearing music!
Child support didn't follow you state to state, oh Lord I almost had a heart attack. Y'all kick ass.
It was fun watching your expressions to a ‘new’ song you never heard before but known to many of us old folk who have strong connections to it for decades now, even over half a century later. This was a fun watch, thank you.
Love Dion! Now, for a 180 point of view, try Runaround Sue. Same doo wap sounds but the tables are turned.
Great song and a great 80s movie about a gang in the 60s called The Wanderers, highly recommend thanks
“Don’t fuck with the wongs” that line as stayed with me since the film came out
@@eddiekelly7207 hahaha me to me and my brother still say that on occasion, Thanks

Dion was the man, some good ass songs from this group. Lot of good music from this time, Chubby Checker puts a smile on everyone's faces
I LOVE this song!!
Such a brilliant song 👌
This is AWESOME 👌 THANKS....
You guys make my day!
You guys always make me smile.Great couple god bless you both
Wonderful memories
I just heard this song today in the car on a radio station, get out of the car to go to the store. Get back in the car, start it up, and hear Stevie Wonder's "isn't she lovely" I'm like damn 😂
This is early 60’s 🎼🎶
Run around Sue turned him into The Wanderer. She jaded him and he turned into this! 🤣🤣🤣❤️❤️❤️
That was fun! ✌️
"Soda pop shop" is a good description.
There is so much life in this music
Lex is such a vibe. Let music be music. Her smile the whole time mirrored mine. Enjoy media.
One of my favorite songs and also one of my favorite movies of the 70s...
Love this song!. Is so fun and catchy!😃😃
I was very young but remember it and dance to it as a teenager
Great song for a West Coast swing dance.
You two need to get back into the books. Dion went through a WHOLE BUNCH and ended up doing Abraham, Martin & John.
He suffered a lot in his career ... it started in NYC, moved to Miami and he was heavily addicted (but I went to the coffee house where he was playing every time he was there and he nearly had his feet on our table, that's how close he was). He's still married to the same woman, Runaround Sue.
His rhythm is extremely unique ... He made a lot of money for Martin Guitars.
AND HE IS STILL PERFORMING!
See his new work with Joe Bonamassa. EXTREME talent!
Big hit in 61. He had another big hit called Runaround Sue about the same time.
Classic!
You know it's a 50s song when they have a saxophone solo.
Happy people I love them for making me HAPPY
Yep. Part of a trilogy Run around Sue and another one that I can't recall. Awesome stuff.
You went way back for this one. It was good music back in the late 50's early 60"s.
My Dad played this song a lot! I love it!! The music I learned to dance to
That voice! Perfect for the song!
When I hear this song I think of the movie the Wanderers.
I think of Fallout 4 lol.
This is the music I was jiving to in the early 60s.
Great vocals was required back in the day..Great reaction guys!
That WANDERER dude would be making ALL KINDS of friend of the court / child support payments TODAY 🤣
Big bopper - Chantilly lace
One of my favorite tracks ever
Love it!
You GOT it. Early '60s
This song has been used in commercials quite often. Two examples are one was a vacuum cleaner commercial and another was for a video game called Fallout 4.
LUV this song! Dion wrote this stuff. Hilarious! This was a true story about a guy the kids knew in the Italian neighborhood he grew up in. In an interview, he started chuckling as he noted how cool they all thought this guy was. Ah, youth.
My father went to school with Dion and the Belmont's. He was more friendly with Freddy and Angelo. He always said Dion was a bit of a dick though.
THIS SONG ROCKS
Kudos the old school !! Funny review !! 😎
This guy is still around and still kicking some serious butt.
I can actually see the cogs going round in Brad’s brain, cool guy for sure!
I loooooove this song
An American Bandstand icon. I was 13 when this came out. Love Dion!
Gotta do Run Around Sue
Yes!!
Fun hearing a voice like this in early sixties. Not that it was unique, but it’s something I personally associate with later sound. I think of that strong, attractive rasp of, say, George Thorogood. It’s nice hearing late doowop without an angelic voiced singer.
Have always loved this song ever since grandpa used to play his original copy on his record player, however ever since watching Lost Girl it has a different feel haha. Still love and cant get it outta my head though lol.
God I love how sweet Lex always reacts. You have a very tender-hearted girl there Brad. Hope you appreciate just how special she is and how blessed you are to have her giving you her love. That type of woman is rare these days
Hi, This song is up beat and happy. I love it.
Dion is the man...
Great song. Brilliant movie 👌
60s.. best decade ever.
in an era filled with pop fluff it was great to have some swagger and attitude
