Indeed! He has the ability to talk about the worst most disgusting things in a manner by which he doesn’t even have to use euphemisms to get the point across
We are so thankful for all our storytellers. As we creep up near 200 million views, spreading these stories so far beyond the normal audiences of each of them has been a ton of fun. Thank you all for supporting VINwiki!
So one question I have is, how do some viewers get the opportunity to share their stories? I know I have a few I'd love to share, and my girlfriend does happen to have family in ATL!
Anything with you, rabbit, Tabbutt, or the dude who rescued the mustang from his friend's ex wife. Doug Demuro and Tavarish of course, and who could forget Rob Ferretti?
what amazes me the most is that Ed can tell a story without stuttering, hesitation, mistakes; holding the exact amount of air in his lungs and using his hands and facial expressions to call your attention to focus on the story... simply amazing.
RUclips may be garbage most of the time but without it, we wouldn't have the VinWiki channel. Its a hard choice between Rabbit and Ed for my favorite but I appreciate everyone taking the time to share their stories.
This is huge for any entrepreneur, salesperson, or anyone looking to make friends at a bar. Literally sat here taking notes just because I could always nail backstory and climax, but just never had a punch or message at the end which always had people tapper off from listening or caring. looking forward to working on this skill and hopefully having my life changed from this!
I can listen to Ed tell a story about literally anything and he would make it interesting, he has a way with words and his vocabulary is ON POINT. lol. Love the Vinwiki app and the vinwiki stories. Thanks for keeping me occupied and having something to look forward to each week.
As an idiot. Make sure yi know the area you're at if you're running. It's unrecommended to run near a precinct. While running out of fuel.. also know top speeds of vehicles..
@@nickabel8279 top speed is far less important than good tires and cornering 😃... and having plenty of gas. But really, more people get away from the police than they admit. Even in cities with police helicopters.
@@thatrealba Running from the cops introduces so many truly unknown variables to the individual trying to run. First & foremost is the speeds involved & the duration of the event...while you may know the particular road, corners X, Y & Z...then do you know the following roads, then the next, the next & so on & so on. Likely you're going to make a mistake along the way, maybe the fourth corner, or the eleventh, but you will make a mistake, unfortunately you are a danger to yourself and everyone around you for the duration...and you likely will get desperate if it doesn't go "your way".
Ed could literally tell a story about the most boring person in the most boring car in the world and make it interesting and probably get millions of views on it Ed is literally the Chuck Norris of Storytelling
I still haven't figured out why I like listening to stories here on vinwiki, but there's definitely an underlying formula here that works better then similar channels that tell stories from reddit and other similar places. Some that appear on here surely are better tellers than others. All I know is the duration is just the right length of time between too short and kinda long
I'd really say that, on his corner of the internet, Ed's absolutely the best storyteller. I never feel like I want to fast forward, wait for him to get to the point, am not sure why I'm listening or where I'm going. I feel like Ed's already watched that video, and already made all those changes himself. I click on Ed's videos more often than most others simply because I have a confidence that I know I'm going to be delivered quality content. I'm more likely to click on VinWiki thumbnails and titles that I'm not as interested in as other ones that appear in the grid, because he's cultivated a production of storytelling that never lets me down. I don't even care or know anything about cars, and I find myself returning to them more and more. I think the bottom line is, there's enough low-effort content in the world. If you're going to share something with people, make it good. Make it worth watching.
Great video Ed! Story telling is a skill and it’s good of you to break it down. Well done with the channel progress. This week has been a monster of amazing videos from Rabbits origin story (it would be a fun video to reenact a young Rob Pitts actor lining up his ‘wiped down hot wheels’ on his desk under an illuminated sign) to the triptych road trip. One day I’ll have to tell you about the metallic blue mustang hire car and two young Scotsmen on holiday in California and Nevada Edit: spelling
It is of no surprise you have a format (at this point) that is perfect. This channel is and has always been (from day 30) an expertly put together product. Thank you for everything you've done and do. I appreciate ALL your efforts!
Ed, I love it man. Thank you for taking your time, energy, & knowledge and bringing it into our day to day adventures, I, and I’m sure many other really appreciate you and everyone involved to make such great & interesting stories.
My dad was a junk man and abrasive, so I learned to entertain customers and district them while playing it cool. You are awesome in your tellings. It's nice to see someone using logic to deal with crazy situations.
Amazing tips. We have been watching VinWiki from the beginning and actually started our channel with a very similar format that is inspired from this same story telling structure. Thank you Ed for bringing awesome stories from the car world and inspiring others to do so as well.
Ed you are Truly a God send for us all to just a little more enjoy the automobile world. Love your colorful stories and even better your story telling. Thank You!
Hello Ed, I am a 67 year old rabbit, started in the car business at 16. A total gear head, an idiot behind the steering wheel, and one of the luckiest, or most blessed people alive. Grew up in upstate sc in the 60’s, when there was nothing to do but drag race. Sold my collision repair business after 37 years, moved to Atlanta area in ‘18. I have some stories.
One thing that wasn’t mentioned was the importance of voice inflection. One thing that makes the story good and keeps you on the edge of your seat is one that is “organized“ in a way where the audience can audibly understand where one thought ends and the next one begins. Noticing when Ed speaks, the pitch of his voice is always rising and falling, except for when he’s using several sentences pertaining to the same thought. Overall this was a very good breakdown of how a good story is crafted and told. I bet that if Ed told a story on RUclips about going to McDonald’s and coming back home to eat what he bought, it will get 100,000 views. I’m sure it would start with something to the effect of, “ with all the fast food choices available and calculating the amount of time spent in the drive thru lines, sometimes you have to do a cost-benefit analysis to determine if it’s really worth the wait, or if getting back on the road is more important..." and then it would end with a punch line of him saying, " with all the endless possibilities it might not have been worthy of a happy meal, but it ended up satisfying my hunger. “
You're very good with words and knowing how to paint a picture in the listeners head. Very good advice as well! By the way, nice to see the continued activity on this channel...!
I've got more than a few stories beginning in 1969, when I received my first drivers license. Ive had that kind of conversation (150+ mph)with a cop while standing on the side of the road. Somehow, and I don't know how, but that cop let me and my buddy go, no ticket, nothing but a lot of yelling at us, as we kept quiet never saying anything other than "yes sir," and "no sir". Then he simply told us to go home AT 55MPH! I recently bought a 991 to keep things going... lol
Thanks Ed, great tips! You have a gift though, the words you use, the pauses, the tone of your voice, it all adds up to an enjoyable listening experience.
Cool channel. My car story: while in college, 1978 Cutlass, smoked like a mosquito machine and driver’s door would not open😂😂. Those we some wonderful days! Today I have my dream car which is a Dodge Viper 😀
Hey Ed, seems to me that your wife would have a story or two that would be of value to your audience. If for no other reason than to share what it's like to live with someone who is part of so many good stories. I bet she has a good car story that would surprisingly entertaining.
Only Ed can tell a story, on how to tell a great story.
Agreed. Ed and Rabbit are my two favorites.

First, have a voice like Ed Bolian.
agreed
Exactly, most people want Liam Neeson, Morgan Freeman, or James Earl Jones to narrate their lives. I just want Ed to narrate mine 🤣🤣🤣
One thing he does that not many people do: he speaks slowly enough that you can hear everything he says. He is also animated.
@@KeenanStyles Ed has a great voice, but i think it might be funnier with rabbit just because of his colorful descriptions of things
I'd be happy with Rabbit narrating my life. He has the kind of voice that can keep you hooked for hours.
"You are purveying in the currency of emotion as a storyteller"
Now THAT is a good line.
Exactly my point. Ed's way with words and his vocabulary are second to none.
Professor Ed....epic!...lol

2 Ed videos in one day? Yes please!

Ed has that smooth and soothing voice. Dude could tell a story about watching paint dry and it would be the most interesting story ever.

Great advice Ed!
