    it's so incredibly humbling when you've studied something intensely for a few years and you are starting to feel like you've really got a thorough understanding of it. Then you watch two people who actually do have a thorough understanding of it, completely dwarfing your knowledge to the point where you feel infantile. it's both intimidating and inspiring. Thanks for this.

    Digital to Analog. That's interesting. I mostly hear of musicians recording to tape first for the warmth. Either way, it sounds great. What a cool little studio.

    • @daylightanimation
      @daylightanimation 7 лет назад +3

      I'm recording all my guitars digitally thru line in, compressing, filtering, then I play the recording on amp, and re-record it thru mic in.
      That's because digital pre-mixing gives me more control of the sound, but analog sound has it's special saturation, which is hardly achievable digitally.
      I can transfer the sound to tape if necessary, too.
      But only when I'm finish editing it digitally, because I need stable and balanced raw material.
      I can record it from amp straight to tape, but.... I need much more of equipment to do this.... compressors, noise gates, etc. Plus I need more time to calibrate my gears.
      Digital pre-mixing is just cheaper.
      In conclusion - Digital has it's cons and pros, Analog has it's cons and pros, I'm trying to use as much pros from boths sides as possible. )))

    • @DJRY360
      @DJRY360 7 лет назад +2

      CGS the warmth comes from the tape itself.. the preamps, the dubbing mechanisms, the mechanical parts that are not perfect.. whether you record to tape or transfer a digital recording will apply the same effect!
