A miter saw station is a great way to get storage and utility in your workshop. The modular design means you can build as many as you want and link them together for excellent storage.

I’ve been waiting for this video!
@Fix This Build That how is that Kreg Track Saw is treating you?
Be nice to have some metric dimensions
Great video. Would love to know where you purchased that lumber rack.
I would buy this if the sketchups were included.
Who doesn't love a giant cabinet build!?
I don't want to meet them! 😀👍
@@Fixthisbuildthat It's like you 2 are fighting for shop supremacy. And I don't think I could pick a side. 😆 Thankfully, we don't have to pick a winner. Or do we?

I seem to find myself rewatching your cabinet builds. Never gets old. Seems like I watch them once a year… or more often.
Thanks, Angie! 😀
One other trick to keep your boards from shifting when installing pocket holes, is to use a quick setting glue like thick and quick wait about 5 to 6 minutes, and then drive the screws home. This takes a little bit longer however if you’re going to set up and batch these out and say, you’re making four or five cabinets, by the time you get finished assembling the fifth one that you could go back to the first and everything should be pretty rigid with that quick setting glue.
Sorry to be long-winded here but this is a technique I use from time to time. Also, Brad your set up is looking dope brother
Great tip, Chris!
I'm a lover of pocket holes
I like the idea of using half-depth shelves with door storage in the upper cabinets. That way you don't "lose" the stuff that gets put in the back. Thanks for sharing!
So true, I'm forever having to grab the stuff from tops of cupboard my wife can't reach or see!
A clean and organized workshop just looks so satisfied
Yes, it makes me happy
I have been waiting for this video for awhile, thanks for finally releasing it. I spend a lot of time watching your older videos too.
Same!
What a build! I fully support you moving the uppers to match the colors. Storage for days!!
This is the best shop cabinet build channel out right now
Stepped up the music game - love it!
Hey great vid
I just completed my station off of your basic design
Thanks man !!
Always learn more than I thought I would. Thanks for being so clear, concise, and informative. Great video.
Great vid, lots of good ideas! Thanks. A 6" wide board cut from the factory edge of an 8' sheet of 3/4" stable sheet stock is much cheaper than even an inexpensive 70" level. Placing a quality level on top of the edge of the board gives you an excellent result. (You don't really need the level if you are just checking for coplanar tops, just the perfectly straight board edge.)
I definitely need cabinets in my shop! Great build!
they make a big difference!
Great video Brad! Thank you for making all the cabinets consistent. That would have bugged me while watching the rest of your youtube career! :)
Hahaha, thanks, Steve. You know I couldn't handle that!
Dang! Those cabinets look absolutely INSANE! Super jealous. Great work!
This is awesome... Well done!!!!
thanks!
What are you finishing the cabinets with? any stain, or polyurethane? or, if you have a video showing how to finish out garage/workshop cabinets share a link! thanks and keep up the good work!
I totally would want to move those cabinets as well. I'd need help though and my husband would look at me like I was insane. Glad I'm not the only one with this affliction. LOL.
I love these modular cabinets. I want to do a whole wall. But man... that would set me back a pretty penny. And take a while. But one of the things I love about these is that I can build a couple now and add some later like you did. These are great. I'll be buying the bundle of plans soon!
The beauty is it's modular so you can build as you have the money and time. But then you're at the mercy of different shades of plywood 😂😂
Great setup, Brad~! I've been trying to land on a miter saw station and cabinet config for a long time. This may be the plan I settle on. So many configuration options.
Thanks~!
Been waiting for modular
hope you enjoyed it!

Awesome video... I love the maple wrap on the work surface
Awesome work Brad. Almost looks too good for a garage and definitely better that most kitchens. I liked the spacer you used to install the upper cabinets. Thanks for sharing.
Love your workshop, its inspiring! Hope to one day set up one. Blessings and Love form Jamaica!
Love the work my friend! You do it right!
Such a clean look! I know I’ve said it in other videos but as always, nice work!
Thanks! 💪 💪
@Brad, I just wanted to let you know that your modular system is awesome and I've taken your design and tailored it to my needs. Awesome videos! Keep it up!
Great job on the cabinets Brad! Thanks for sharing the video with us!💖👍👌😎JP
Brad, recent subscriber here. I love the above cabinet wood storage. What types of shelves are those/ where did you get them?
Bought the plan, need to get building!
Love me a good miter saw station. Or is it mitre saw !?! I guess just north of the boarder. 😜
Border or boarder, mitre or miter😊 - just being lame and joining in!
Great vid - Really enjoyed watching it.
Quick question RE some tooling - At 2:08 there's a drill bit with a large round disc on it. I think at that point you are drilling countersink holes, but I am not clear on what the large round disc is for?
Always love a good shop build. Lol. Laughing about moving the old upper cabinets. But it just wouldn't be you to leave them there.
😜
Killer project Brad! Now take a break from the builds and record some more Made For Profit podcasts :)
😜
this is really cool
Hi thank you for everything ..Khalid from Indianapolis IN
Hey man I bought some of your plans, one suggestion is to give a cut order as in what’s the best way to break down the plywood. At least for the first few cuts. Thanks!
Good suggestion!
Pretty amazing job, dude! Your setup is looking fantastic! 😃
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
I bought Brad's plan (package deal) last year and my garage was/is the envy of the neighborhood (no joke). Even the wives walking around would comment and tell their husbands to check out my shop. The quality of the plans and the ease of following along with the instructions put these plans at the top of my favorites list. Can't go wrong. No, Brad didn't pay me to say this! LOL!
Any chance you can tell me how many sheets of plywood it takes to build the 13ft run??
@@forster46 I'd have to find the plans again. It could take some time. You might get a better response time by reaching out to Brad directly.
Use the Castle pocket machine and there won't be any movement, you can pretty much hold by hand. It uses a 3 degree angle for the screw hole to prevent movement.
I love sketchup, used it to design my mitre station as well
Absolutely amazing setup! Love the modular design! Thanks for the video!
Man I love your vids and sense of humor! Thanks tons for you videos.
Hey Brad, can you show us how to make a corner cabinet? I think that could really help out a lot of people including beginners like myself!
To further ensure pocket holes do not drift on you; 1) Clamp things up like you showed. 2) I use an awl inside the pocket hole to put in indent where the screw should go. Gives the screw a place to start and not drift on you.
Fantastic build Brad - you make it look easy. Wish I lived close to you - I would commission you to build out my garage with some mega boss level modular units. Love everything about the style that you choose to make.
Mate I love what you do! i'm very keen to join and purchase plans but is there any chance of getting measurements in metric as well on the plans?
Great video 👍
thanks!
Love all of your content and am glad you have plans available as well. I am trying to evaluate whether to build or buy. For a base 2 door cabinet and upper 2 door cabinet, what would you say each would cost to build per your plans? Thanks for your help in advance.
😂😂😂 it was and never is overkill. Great job.
Really nice looking setup sir
Try elevator bolts, they have a flat head. Not rounded like the carriage bolts. I use them for all projects that need leveling feet!
Yeah great build. Looking forward to trying this out and building some for myself. Wondering if there is anything additional that needs to be adjusted if I use a deeper cabinet depth? I have plenty of space in my shop so I would rather do 24" depth.
Im building a miter saw station based on your plans, however, I'd like to incorporate a measure tape, ttrack and stop block capability, AND...I want to laminate my countertop with black formica laminate. Can you recommend the order in which to do these things, and what to do to prevent chipout when routing ttrack groove into the laminated surface (assuming you recommend laminating first). Thanks.
Rock on Brad! . So what if you move those cabinets where you want and so what if your voice is a bit tinny. Another great video and I'm looking forward to Part 3. May you have a long and illustrious RUclips career.
Taking your wishes for a prosperous RUclips career for myself too!
Great set-up! Any recommendations for a room that is 8 foot width? I have a 12" compound sliding miter saw that is 26" wide that I'm trying to squeeze in. Fitting the saw in the counter leaves me with 70" of counter space. I'm aware that I have no room to cut 8 foot length wood, but I need a place for the saw. It's too heavy to store away. The room is 8' x 8', very small I know.. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated! Thank you
Thanks to your videos I now know there’s a Woodcraft store in Knoxville!
Where do you get perfectly straight plywood. Most big box stores have plywood with a warp. Its ok for the carcass, but I find it very challenging to make the drawers and the doors. Any tips?
You do excellENT WORK, !!
BTW - fantastic content, especially on this series. Love it.
Cool!
Do you change pocket hole direction (vertical on sides vs horizontal on top/bottom) on the floor cabinets vs the ones hung on the wall?
Just a thought. When I needed to age maple, I used to put it in the sun for a couple of hours until they matched. Then seal and topcoat. Much easier than relocating cabinets.
Well dang...i should try that
Thanks for the video. You seem to think every detail through including some I would overlook. How high above your lower cabinets did you mount the upper cabinets? I think you might be just an inch or so taller than me so our reach is similar. I know there are "industry standards" of the placement......but I am the only one using my garage shop.
How much did this project cost. Just cabinets and tops? Curious need this in my life
I recently built the workbench with drawers and 2 of the upper cabinets. I bought all the lumber, hardware, screws, and finish, etc together, and was out close to $500 at HD. I bought full sheets of plywood and have 75% left of a 3/4" and 1/2", and 90% left of a 1/4" sheet. I did not need to buy any tools, however. I've used his plans on a handful of projects and they are great!
@@ryanjohnson4845 how many feet of workbench and cabinet did you end up with? I am looking to build 18ish’.
@@michaelgreen3224 It really depends on where you are in the country, and what your wood sources are. Shouldn’t be too hard to go to a lumber store or big box store and price it out in a very rough way. You could probably do it by looking at the stores website.
@@michaelgreen3224 I've only built the work bench with the hutch so far, which is like 60" wide. The two upper cabinets together are the same width, like 30" each or so
Prices are going to range depending on your location and lumber prices. And also the type of cabinets you build (a 5 drawer cabinet will be way more than a lower cabinet with just doors due to cost of slides). I think I have 10 to 12 sheets of 3/4 plywood in that whole 13' setup and maybe 1 1/2" and a few 1/4" for drawer bottoms and dividers.
How will you incorporate dust collection for the miter saw? I like your cabinets and will probably buy your plans. I have a Bosch 12 inch axial glide miter saw. It takes up some real estate and as with most saws it makes a lot of dust.
Looks just like your cabinets from the plans!
What would you do for the base cabinet top if you had a 105" span of cabinets (2 sets of double cabinets and 3 drawer cabinets) since ply is only 96" long? Would you just split it in half with a trim piece in the middle?
That or I might just edge join two pieces if I could get it clean enough and have a small seam line that I putty and sand flat
Great job !
Great video - this looks awesome!!!
And it's well protected too 😀👍
I saw your video ( and laughed at the comment about a month's pay in plywood). So I looked at my kitchen cabinets today. Much of the frames are 1/2 to 3/4 in, but the sides appear to be 1/4". The sides are cut into the frame with dado's or rabbits. Would this a way to reduce cost and weight, but not really impact strength that much? Love the channel and the positive attitude while you work!
Brad, when you’re mount the new cabinets through the plywood back how do you ensure you’re hitting a stud and clear of water and electric? I’m stupid nervous about hitting something in my wall.
Project Farm did a good review of stud finders that also detect plumbing and electrical. If the cabinets are probably permanent, you could cut yourself some inspection holes where the cabinets go and see what's there - the cabinets will cover them. Finally, if the wall was built to be compliant with IRC, you shouldn't need to do any more than use reasonable length fasteners - don't exceed 1" into the stud + .5" drywall thickness + thickness of cabinet back.
@@SuperYourAcceptance thanks. Honestly I don’t think there is plumbing in the wall I’m going to put cabinets on but electrical on the other hand....
I use a magnet to find the screws in the studs then mark the location on the cabinet and drill mounting holes. And electric typically runs down the side of a stud, but they do make stud finders that can sense electric if you're worried
what medthod do you use to calculate the spacing of drawer boxes from bottom of cab to top?
Thoughts on 1/2” vs 3/4” BB ply for drawer boxes? Is 1/2” gonna be too flimsy for heavy drawer loads?
hello, there is there a concern for buying a slide taller than 1.75 inches as recommended in the plans? I noticed the ones you recommend are out of stock at wood craft and curious if there are other options or dimensions I need to consider in selecting optional 18 inch slides for the plans to work correctly?
Great video!! I’m also in Nashville (Spring Hill actually). Where do you prefer to get your cabinet plywood?
Man this was an incredible project. 👍💚🤟🎸
I would have painted or color washed that lighter colored door to bring in a bit of (accent) color. Love the simplicity and versatility of the modular system.
I’m planning a similar miter station. If you don’t mind sharing, where did you get your plywood and what brand/type/grade is it? And I apologize if you mentioned this in another video.
With the crazy prices of lumber, what's your take on using 1/2 instead of 3/4 to save money? pros and cons?
Love your vids
thank you!
Can you tell me what Total boat finish you preferr the gloss or a differant affect
That’s a pretty slick build Brad! Are you replacing a rigid miter saw? Or are you keeping old reliable
Thanks, JP! will be holding on to it for now. If it ain't broke, don't fix it :)
Fair enough. I’m about to do a miter station video build myself and I’m thinking about upgrading my Dewalt to a Delta cruiser slider
Brad, which dust collection hose do you use ? The red and black one ?
Can you make a floting door
don't really have a spot for one
😄
Quick question. First love your videos. So it looks like you are constantly using russian baltic birch plywood. If that is true my question is will i get the same results using plywood from a lumber store; not home depot but a real lumber store?
Love you videos Brad. Looking to build something similar here in Australia but my local good quality Birch Plywood merchant is telling me not to use 3/4 inch for doors as it isn't stable enough. Yet, you've done exactly that.
Have you had any issues? I live in Brisbane where our humidity ranges from 60 to 75% depending on the season. Would this be a factor for their concern? Thanks in advance, Clinton
how do you determine the clearance between the upper cabinet doors to ensure they don't impact each other while being opened?
You are AWESOME! Nice Video. I hope you have the Bosch saw :D I am excided to see the next Video! :D
You've probably addressed this about 1M times, but what type of plywood and where do you buy it?
I believe he said Baltic Birch plywood, which you can generally get from one of the big box stores.
Love these. Where can I buy the wood racks you remounted. How I want to watch all your video's there really helpful. Thank You
How would you go about with a wall having a 2inch concrete bottom border? There would be a gap behind the bottom cabinets and the wall. Would I just reverse the toe gap to be in the back instead?
Have 2 toe gaps instead? (front and back) or would I just put a set 2x4 on the studs to fill the gap so the cabinets can screw into the top 2x4’s?
Where can one buy the racks/brackets for your lumber storage?
Looks great, Brad. Your ECD struck again. How did you adjust the back leveling feet? I recognized those lumber racks. I bought mine at Menards in Ohio. Stay safe and well.
Bill
What motivated you to move away from the mobile flip up wing stand you had before?
just an evolution. Since I was adding storage cabinets it only made sense to make them serve double duty and free up the floor space from the mobile stand
How high do you hang the wall Cabinet from the base cabinet?
Love it.
If I want to build this exact setup how many total sheets of 3/4" plywood would it take so I can start saving....
