I was born in 1980 and this show existed on the periphery of my childhood impressions but it was still there, i remember seeing it on tv and it makes me sad how far away this time is.
Some of Hollywood's greatest acting talent cut their teeth on this show. The list of actors who went on to fame and fortune from St. Elsewhere is truly impressive. Not to mention that it was a terrific show from TVs final Golden Age before the arrival of cable. Those were the days.
This was just about as good as television could get. St. Elsewhere was one of TV’s finest hours. It never did well in the ratings, but it was always an Emmy and critical favorite. It’s the only medical show I truly enjoyed.
I love this song and this intro. I saw the serie when i was a child in the 80's and 90's, because my family wanted to see it. But i wanted to see the intro every day when it began.
I thoroughly loved this show back when it first came on. Probably one of my all time favorites. I never understood why it never was a big hit. This show had the potential to continue on for many years but lackluster ratings prematurely killed it.
St Elsewhere and Hill Street Blues, something I looked forward to and made an effort be home to see when they first aired on Thursday nights in the 80's. Also because it was Thursday night, made it extra nice cause it signaled the weekend was almost here. Have not seen either in years, but bet Hill Street Blues, fails the test of time. St Elsewhere, possibly also like most tv dramas after enough time passes. Also I always wanted to say to anyone, the low point of St Elsewhere for me was the whole Peter/ Rape story line. Seemed very directed at adding suspense and tension, for those reason rather than adding to the character of the show. Lotta fond memories of that time in my life and how this was a part of it.
This show was shown at Malaysia's national tv in the 80s when I was only 9 yrs old. I remembered my mother keep had asked me to go to bed every time i tried to watch it. This show was aired at 10pm Monday nite
What did he do after this that qualified him to be on America's Got Talent? I only ask because this show is the only one I know him from hence why I wondered how he got the job.
@@DarkLordDiablos He was a popular stand-up comedian in the 1980s and 1990s. He also hosted and lent his voice to the cartoon series "Bobby's World" in the 1990s.
She was a nice character that I felt sad to see go (we never got to know why and where did she go btw). However, I hardly remember her starring any good plot or story in 68 episodes aside from her pseudo relationship with Dr. Samuels in season 1, or that she was hit by a guy and a roof fell on her during the snow storm in season 2. It was too long ago when I watched the series and I was just a kid then, so I'd need to refresh my mind.
So far as I know, only season. 1 was ever released on dvd. It was shown on the Bravo channel back about 20 years ago. I would love for the complete series to be officially released.

Denzel washington
The show was great and had the 1980’s all over it! Great time in American history!
RIP Norman Lloyd who died 11th May 2021 age 106

So sad how Ed Flanders died. We'll always have St. Elsewhere to remind us what a talent he was, among many others. Best medical drama by far.
RIP Ed Flanders.
R.I.P. Ed Flanders, Norman Lloyd, & Stephen Furst.😔😞😞😞
Sad ? Nah, we all die, but the spirit lives forever
I was just a little boy when that was on TV. But I remember thinking that Washington fellow...he can act.
80s theme songs were the greatest

The theme is memorable plus so many people played on St elsewhere even watching in reruns. makes me want to work at a hospital

Loved the show and the theme music but was crazy about Mark Harmon!!! Soo good looking in St.Elsewhere!!
Norman Lloyd is 106, I would've lost money on that bet..

Darn, Flounder in a serious role! Seriously though he was a good actor. RIP
Before Mark Harmon plays Jethro Gibbs on Ncis.I was a kid I remember this show
Norman Lloyd is 102 and still going strong wow
Robert Mullins 0
106
@@scottnoah9811 just died at 106.
Mark Harmon enjoyed playing Doctor!
Back when Howie Mandel had hair.

Love this theme song!!??
I keep forgetting that Denzel Washington got his start on TV.
RIP Stephen Furst - passed beyond the Rim...
After MASH, this was my favorite medical tv show.
Que serie tan bonita
Ed Begley Jr doesn't age...he is cute 😊... I've seen him in other things since then and he's so adorable he looks the same as he did back then...
MTM TV produced the best truly the best TV drama
Season 3 (1984-85) ranked 49th in the Nielsen Ratings with a 13.4/22 rating/share.
The female cast on that show was smoking hot. 😍
One of my most favorite shows of the 1980s, but upon reflection why was everyone so sad and miserable?
80s prestige television.
It seems like he wasn't on that show for long.
This music is the same as seasons 1 and 2 I think.
is st. elsewhere intro
After this season St. Elsewhere went elsewhere, thanks to the boneheaded move to fire Cynthia Sikes

Why did I think Mike Post wrote this theme?
Fair assumption. He wrote almost everything else. Hill St Blues, Rockford Files, Magnum P.I., The A Team, LA Law...........
I cant remember a doctor in this day who to this day doesnt believe what im talking about
What?
Mark Harmon’s character “Bobby Caldwell” was such a leech..😦
What he wouldn't do for love...lmao
Here cuz oney plays
I love William Daniels, Mark Harmon, Terence Knox, Howie, David...
Kevin
That intro was the second half of season 3. The first half included Ellen Bry and Terence Knox within its credits.
A lot of castmembers went on to become Big Stars. Why isn't this show in syndication and on DVDs?

@@jensmom604 Not the same, but imdb.tv streams the whole series.
That's a very good question. I think Hulu TV is the only provider, but it's not free.
Because the left despised the show and considered it racist and offensive. The show hwurt their widdle feeweeings.
