  • Living with arm paralysis is definitely interesting and different. My arm paralysis greatly affects my daily life, but having a disability does not mean I cannot live a fulfilled, productive life.

    When you talked about all the little things your friends do to help you: I just want you to know that it is so good for them to experience this. They are learning at a fairly young age that disabled people are perfectly normal, and that doing things to help them is natural and doesn't have to be embarrassing. My daughter (about your age) is also disabled, and I've just recently been made aware by another mother how the kids in our church perceive her as being normal -- she's just herself. Good for you making these videos. The more we understand about the absolutely normal people inside the disability, the better for all of us. Bless you!

      @SarahToddHammer  4 года назад +4

      Yes! I completely agree and I’ve thought about that before. I think it really is great that they’re getting this experience a little earlier on in their lives so they’ll be better prepared when they encounter other disabled people at some point! Thank you! 💖

    Have you seen toothpaste dispensers? They work like wall-mounted soap dispensers...you just push the toothbrush against it and it deposits toothpaste, no fiddly cap involved.

    Sarah, I saw this video before and don't know why I didn't think of this before. Your uniform top, leave all but the top 2 buttons buttoned and then you can put it on like a t-shirt.

    I can really relate to the video. I do not have paralysis, but I do have a visual impairment and I totally agree that it’s not being able to do the little things that is the most frustrating, and so when you find a way to adapt something small for you to do it independently it feels so good. I wish you the best of luck in your independence journey andwith starting in college in the fall.

    They should have had an aid/ para for you for those things at school. I’m so glad your friends are helping you, but they shouldn’t have to.

      I have hemiplegia and everything in the bathroom is done independently. I use my teeth or my other arm (as a brace) but I had carpal tunnel because my working arm is used 2x. I tie my shoes by using my teeth.

    how do you have arm paralysis if you can move your own ? 🤔

    • @emily0071000
      @emily0071000 4 года назад +4

      EllieVlogs it’s partial arm paralysis. She can only move one hand and can’t lift arms above shoulders

    • @SarahToddHammer
      @SarahToddHammer  4 года назад +15

      EllieVlogs if you watched the video it should be obvious. I clearly explained my paralysis. Paralysis doesn’t always mean you can’t move the limb at all.
