Huge thanks for letting us use your land! Go check him out and show him some love for supporting the channel!
In this video we added a brake, throttle, and some other finishing touches to the Sachs KM48 JCPenney El Tigre Rotary Minibike so we can test it out for the first time! One of our viewers Daniel saw that we are local to him so he was kind enough to let us use his property to film a proper driving video! We took out the race bike as well and got into some automotive shenanigans. On a side note, we are all back in college now so we apologize if the upload schedule gets out of whack. Don't worry, we still have plenty of awesome content to show you! Thanks guys for watching and we'll see you next time.

Shoutout to Daniel for letting us use his land, check out his channel DJ Tuning! (link in description) On a side note we are all back in college now so apologies if the upload schedule changes a bit. Don't worry though, we have plenty of awesome content, new projects, and more rotary videos to show you!
Wonder what the juggernaut CVT system would do on that rotary .... give you damn good take off
you should turbo it

Awesome time having you guys over! You guys can come over anytime. Next time I'll have the grass mowed :D
Imagine your chain snaps at full speed and you have no brake 😬
I have restored a handful of these engines. Just want to let you know, the factory bing carb is very restrictive. You can make a lot more power if you exchange it for an aftermarket carb
Ive got the exact same engine, what can you do to them to get more power?
What's the name of this engine
Asariel 007 sachs rotary km48
Do you have any information on spare parts? Apex seals or just a general rebuilt kit that’s available anywhere?
@@vansbuilds5714 can i buy it?
I guess great minds think alike, literally filmed reviving a Sachs 303 the other day intent on being the first person to do a rotary swap😂
Junkyard digs rotary videos would be awesome!
Not there first sache rotary they've done they also did one on a racing cart
Rotary swapped riding mower???
I want one to swap into a PRO XL length BMX now....That would be so badass if only I could A find it, B afford it.
Never too old bro
I dunno, the brakes being on the clutch may not be the best idea, because if you loose the chain, you loose brakes.
Also it adds heat to your clutch. Not good. The high gearing isn't helping that poor clutch ether.
Yep
Agreed, this is hella dangerous
yeah i said last video that a calliper on the rear sprcoket would of been a far more clean look and not look like an after thoght and bodged
@@1981dasimpson brakes are an after thought lmao
4:51 - Triumph Rocket III - NICE! The rotary is begging for a torque converter.
Thanks man! I love my bike.
@@benraymond4435 a fellow rocket man!
I wish I could hear that rotary idle every time I stopped on my bike, that little thing is badass.
It sounds like a robotic dog barking.
@@InsideOfMyOwnMind haha, you're not wrong!
Awesome video! Had a ton of fun ripping the mini bikes with you guys! Thanks for coming out
I love that it still has that distinctive rotary idle sound.
Love to hear that run through a dirtbike transmission!
@Lance Washington hell yeah, I don't see that happening though.
I have a km48 rotary going thru a dirt bike trans on my channel, doesn’t run very smoothly tho lmao
@@ghettobikelife8833 that’s pretty badass!
That thing looks built for the street not for offroad
Just send it!
That’s exactly what I was saying he’s gonna wipe out by the time he has full power if he keeps running off road but push it anyways
Scared to crash on a hard surface
That dude looks like a young Adam savage from myth busters lol😂😂😂
Very cool, never seen this before on something this small
Yeah, they say it Wankels you off as you drive
😯I love Rotory engines 😍
Try a 2 stroke pipe!!!! They're pretty cheap, try like a yz85 pipe they're cheap an plentiful!! Easy mod to make it sound cool and some performance gain!!!!!!
Just a Nice Toomey Silencer
ruclips.net/video/ipgLjVSQHqM5/видео.html5
Sweet I could get hands on one these rotary motors here in Australia.
they dont need a 2 stroke pipe as the intake and exhuast are not open at the same time so no cross flow and loss of fuel air mix
A 2stroke pipe would only be a restriction rotaries behave like a 2stroke but they are a 4stroke motor and don't want any back pressure
Edit: Infact the way a 2stroke exhaust works it could possibly cause a massive reduction in power if that back pulse catches the following exhaust cycle
It HAS to be illegal for you guys NOT to mod that thing! I’m curious to see the guts of a rotary governor! Sick bike guys!
Modding the Sach is unwise. They keep it stock to make sure they don't have to try to find apex seals for it.
We've got some power mods coming soon!
@@BuildBreakRepeat Oh? A new carb and a two-stroke exhaust?
Olli Lehtonen 2 stroke pipe won’t do anything for it but a turbo and torque converter will
We all have been waiting...
HOW FAST even, theoretically with THIS, in powerband, please.
DYING TO KNOW
my fat frame coleman w/gc190 does 47 top holds 40 plus no jackshaft
you know when it hits that powerband is when the real fun happens
Brings back memories, as we had the same exact bike back in the 60's, but with a 6 hp, full house, West bend go kart engine. Not as fast as yours, went about 40, but fun. We took off the centrifugal clutch and went direct drive. Not for the faint of heart! We were just 8,9, 10 years old.
Gotta get a rotary!
I hope that small fuel tank has a vent. Rotaries love their fuel, it's possible you could have fuel flow problems.
The one with the blue motor and chunky tires looks cool.
Yes!!!
Totaly sick guys that little rotary sounds great we love you show down ere in Australia...john....Australia
That rotary needs to be on the street!
🔵 Yeah,... That is a street bike and NOT a proper off-road frame AT-ALL!!
He could crack a frame-weld riding it that way.
🔵 I would put a big enough gear on the jackshaft that you could reduce the size of the sprocket on the wheel, that chain is jus' too-vulnerable that close to the ground.
Awsome. I had an old arctic cat snowmobile with a rotary motor .
How fast is the rotary compared to the other mini bike? It would be cool to see a drag race, especially with that high top end power band!
Rotary guy here I watched the whole thing you need more than a slight regear I never heard it go past halfway up it's rev range not even into the real power band yet.
That engine looks like a giant alternator.
Love the way it sounds. Can't wait to hear it with a turbo!
That lil rotary machine s working so good out there great job guys
nothing beats the sound of rotary. For sure! Nice little bike
Those mini ass bikes roar like 2 twins and CRFs. Very cool builds guys! Looking forward for more contents. Ride fast and ride safe!
Sick build!
Love the sound, iconic brap
Cool ! I would definitely weld a tube in between those handle bars ! They were moving like crazy ! So surprised they didn't Bend .
sweet build..................Dorito power...!!!!..............many love, much props
Thanks for the video
letz go, new video! rotary power FTW!
oh and you definitely need to put in an idler tensioner pulley on that first chain in your jackshaft system, it is bouncing all over the place!!
Nice!!!
The Rotary is super cool guys. You're running that Jack shaft so why don't you run a CVT on there. Get the rotary into its powerband quicker and keep it there, plus it solves low and high gearing issue. I'm looking forward to the turbo upgrades.
I think you guys are right about it being a little over geared.
cool shit man 🤙🏼
peace from germany
Ich bin auch Deutscher 😂
Looks fun and genius invention 👍🏻 You should build a bigger version of that mini bike 😁
I love the sound of the idle
Makes me want to find one of these cool lil engines to build one myself. You should put that engine on go power sports new lil mini bike frame be really cool
Something different. Very cool
That is so cool. I love the way it goes when it gets on song👍
Both bikes are little rippers. It really shows you how different the power from a rotary is.
Now a suggestion for your channel. When you cut to or from a scene with motors running to a scene without, fade the audio transition just a weeeeee bit. Thanks. I sincerely believe this will help you.
Before you guys change the sprocket ratio I'd like to see it speed run on that puppy. Anyways great job on the brake system. That's a great idea
The rotary runs quite smooth for a 2-stroke & the idle of a rotary is one of my favorites.
A rotory is a 4 stroke
@@xxzenonionnex7658 then why did they bring & mix 2-stroke fuel for the one they have
@@xxzenonionnex7658 And I already know about the ones you're referring to hence rx-7, rx-8, & other older rotary mazda products.
Sauron Green 2 stroke oil is added to gas in a rotary to lube the apex and other seals.
@@xxzenonionnex7658 well on paper, but it combines its fazes much like a 2cycle and also achieves this in short by opening and closing ports(as does 2cycle), rather than a valve train like most 4 cycle engines..so this is somewhat of a debatable topic. Just my 2cents🍻
So sweet!
Gonna dirt ride after turbo build to show some more amazing footage
Now to put a little Rotary like that in a Dirt jumping style BMX with a 21" top tube!
3:03 that sound 😍😍😍😍
Awesome Video Guys! Love it especially with the wankel engine build. I have 2 of the bigger boys the Curtiss Wright/Sachs 303cc which is a running display engine in the man cave. With that a Arctic Cat/ Sachs 295cc which is even more powerful than the 303. Due to cooling issues with air cooled wankels they thought by running the intake runners as close to the exhaust and through the centers of the Apex to help cool it, that it hurt their performance overall compared to a liquid cooled Mazda engines. But it's really cool to see the smaller one used on a mini bike! Very good job! The larger ones are pretty disappointing for the size. So keep that in mind for future builds. They have constant torque like an electric motor is the only way to describe them..... but the 303 is rated @19hp and the better ported 295 is rated @ a mere 24hp it's better than the first generations but still could use forced induction to raise the compression ratios of the poor things! You can hear on yours it's a little weak in the power department, it sounded no different really then a stock Arctic Cat from 72 with the wankel. A 2 stroke of lesser displacement will destroy the wankels of the time. BUT they were unique, and that's what counts! They technically shouldn't run but they do and that's why they are so impressive. Thanks again guys.
Life is good for you
You should try some pocket bike race tyres on it and find a nice track to ride on, it would also be interesting to see a 2 stroke pipe on it too!
Cool build, besides the brake setup as many have mentioned.
that truck is nuts 😂😂😂
I think that rotary would respond very well with a torque converter it would give you some of the torque you are missing
Need to get out and mow a decent track out there!
Learned 2 ride a 2wheeler on open field, age 6. LMAO!! Looks Fun fun..
If you had the same size tires and back sprocket that thing would rip but it’s sick!
Needs a belt-drive VST to get that thing in the powerband and keep it there.😁
so I'm sure you guys figured this out by now but that little filter you put on the rotary carburetor is not designed for airflow. that is a filter that is usually put on a valve cover of a car. Of course your flow is going to be significantly reduced causing lack of power
Guys stop crying for a two stroke exaust that wont make any power on a rotary please look how a rotary works and what a 2 stroke exhaust do
Brap brap brap ♻️ 👌
That SACHS engine looks ancient? How old is it? What were they used for originally, if U know?
I've never seen or heard of a rotary engine like that...
I'm not sure on the year but I think they were used on old pressure washers
These old engines were made somewhere in the mid to late 1990s.
They were used on boats marketed as an italian mac 10 outboard engine, generators, and as a para glider engine. That is just what I've read about but I'm sure they were used for more than just that. Here's a few links to an article and the engine running.

@@felixf8924 Great Information, Thanks
Man there’s 2 rotary snowmobiles for sale by me for kinda cheap would be a perfect engine to make something like this
Hi! I from Brazil,I really liked these engines and wanted to know how to purchase them, which city do you live in?
He looks like MythBusters´s son :D
sweet
I don't quite understand why someone would use the band brake on the clutch when heat kills clutches and the band brake will definitely increase the temperature. Per say that you have location problems with attaching a bracket for disc brakes or drum this would be understandable. My 1969 MTD Rambler had a rear band brake and the first thing I did was to remove it and install front and rear hydraulic disc brakes. Safety first
Pretty cool guys great job
That rotary is so bad ass lol
Nice bike. One problem you won't be able to stop if the chain snaps
Where you get these German engines from? I also live in Germany and have to serch very long to find an good old Sachs engine. I tell you guys u can't brake these engines. Sachs build very long lifting engines. Also 2 stroke engines... 😅
We got this one from EBay, the seller was located in Russia. It's a strong engine!
@@BuildBreakRepeat wagt is with the kart? 😂
... do you even look on ebay kleinanzeigen?
Good job 👍👍👍
Let er Rip, tater chip! lol! Man, fellas, I’m diggin that little rotary bike! Pretty cool!
Was hoping to see a straight up rip. Like a half mile run. But have no idea if there is any torc
Cool
Where did you get the motor? I got a free pit bike that's engine went on fire so I want to replace it. Everything else is brand new too!
That was fucking awesome! Good work lads
BRAP BRAP BRAP
Awww man! This was my dream. I finally found an engine, but took it apart to find the cylinder was all pitted and not repairable :(
Run amsoil dominator 40:1 and send it
1 thing I don’t like about clutch breaks is if the chain pops off you have no breaks.
Take it down that dirt road and open it up. Let’s see what it does on top end
Put some stiffer springs in that clutch so it engages at higher rpm.
How are you gonna stop when the chain breaks?
About how fast was that rotary mini bike going it looked to be going in the 30-35 range... Which is insanely fast on something that small
That definitely does not belong in a field.
Also, the brake is on backwards, it should squeeze down in the direction of rotation instead of against it. The way you have it set up it is fighting to reduce your braking.
I dare you to make that rotary engine see through. So you can see the engine in action
Lower that gear ratio way down, so that motor can reach its power range! You hella good options being its using a Jack shaft. 😀
Nice build, the only thing I would have done differently is the brakes.....all thats doing as it is just slows the engine down. If your direct drive then fine. If not I would have put it on the rear wheel
It has a centrifugal clutch so the break is just grabbing onto the outer housing that’s connected directly to rear wheel
That rotary defo wants to run higher RPM. It Ain't no torque monster. ;)
Drop the gearing and it'll take off so much better. Very cool project.
Just clean up the rust and clear coat it, love the all metal look.
We were thinking of getting it fully chromed like it was stock!
You should make a 2 speed clutch setup for it
I don't know how good the brake on clutch is. One, if you lose the chain you lose the brake. Two, the clutch already experiences a lot of friction and heats up a lot. By using it to brake you heat the clutch up even more which eventually could lead to poor engagement
Love it👍
That thing desperately needs a torq converter instead of a centrifugal clutch, also to be ported (I can only imagine those Sachs rotaries can be bridged at least), it definitely needs a freeier flowing exhaust (rotaries need to breathe, both ends), and then, after all of that, if it still can't get out of it's own way, gearing....
