My way of thinking about lighting and composition has changed massively because of you, Peter. I can't thank you enough. And Bec is such an addition... both visually, and for the mind set that she puts you in, Peter.
Very satisfying for me following your constant light changes, to get exactly what you want. You impress me to no end. I’m not a professional by far, just an amateur. I shot an art Nude workshop yesterday, after about 30 years of nature photography. Your constant focus and shoot technique kept reminding me to focus on the model’s eye. Thanks for your tips.
Ana's posing progresses are tremendous ! what a difference from the very first shootings ... Perter's lightning work is fabulous as always ... Damn ... I still have to practice .... ! ;-)
I simply love your videos. They are inspiring, challenging, instructing and simple (in the best meaning). One of the best way of learning both technique (lighting, the shot, processing) and the work with the models who by the way are astonishing. I just started shooting models (amateurs) and will now ask the models to watch one of your videos before a shoot to learn them how not to pose and make the photo come alive through their attitude. I will also watch your videos before a shoot to be inspired and well prepared. Please keep sharing with us.
Wow Anna is definitely dedicated to her tattoos. And those fuzzy slippers are awesome. Future implied photo? Thank you for the lighting tips. Visually seeing the difference as you adjust between shots is super helpful.
Loved this bit in the video "She has to demand me to take the photo" a wonderful bit of playfulness you can get from a shoot when building a working relationship with a model. Would love to see you do some shots that included some of Anna's back tattoos and also get good eyes in on the poses.
I recently shot some that include her back tattoo to be published in a magazine :) we didn't film it for RUclips but I'll link you to the photos once it's published
I always learn from these lighting vids, also the great engagement with the model, got a bit hung up over the angle though and if I was the client I’d be chasing the side look with the clothing straps showing on the garment. Or is that me being overly objective. Thanks again Regards Roland
Always great videos and the fact that he is using one light is great! Out of curiosity, why do you choose a reflector and not a fill light? I know I am coming late to the party since the video is from 21 :)
Thanks heaps. If you add another light it will add another shadow, where as if you use it a reflector it will just make the shadows lighter without adding another shadow
Hi, Anna! 👏👏 Great job team. It must take a few years of practice for someone to get over a commercial client hiring you because they love what you create, and then having them tell you what to do. I recently had to do a reshoot for a school yearbook - 29 kids and parents were happy, but 1 wasn't. I reshot the kid, and the mother was there directing and micromanaging the whole time. Photos turned out the same, but the kid looked self conscious and her expression was dull doing all the little tacky poses mum wanted in the new ones. But mum loves them because she was in charge, apparently. 🤷 The originals will go in my portfolio 😂
Peter and Bec, another inspirational video! I am glad to see that years of experience still requires curiosity and experimentation to get the results that you want. You both inspire me and I think that is what I am going to join next!
Peter, in the 80’s I used bronica SQa cameras that were 6x6cm, so one did not need to rotate for vertical shots. How do the medium formats shoot today? I never see you rotate the hasselblad for a vertical shot.
Hi Frederick, I also used to shoot with a 503 :) but I don't shoot vertical because that's not how my eyes see, I see in landscape so I shoot in landscape. If I have to shoot vertical for a client though I will roate the camera, or at 50MP I can just crop the image.
The more I watch you the more I get fussy with light also. But it's true, the little things that most don't notice are the difference between an average shot and a beautiful one.
So the commercial shoot was for color and you ended up changing it to Black And White. LOL. We all know you love Black and White over color. So I'm thinking that was the biggest change for your own likes. LOL Great lighting work as always. Love seeing your workflow on designing an image. And Bec didn't even have wine.
hello to all, Peter i would like to have see you taken that foam and placed it vertical at about 45 or so degrees rather than horizontal and placed a flag at the other side of Ana what do u think
Me: He can get rid of the poly board with content-aware-fill in Photoshop. Bec: How are you going to remove the poly board? Peter: I'll remove it with content-aware-fill. Me: Yeay!
because I call myself a photographer not a retoucher or a digital artist, there's nothing wrong with calling yourself, an artist or a retoucher, but I call myself a photographer
love the communication with the Model , respect to Bec as well
Thanks so much

Omg when you asked Ana to step back and there it was! Peter you are really good.
Thanks I just do it a lot and I don't restrict myself with rules :)
Amazing pedagogic work, awesome models , greath Master Mr. Coulson and Becccccccc
Many thanks!

That's awesome Thomas, thank you so much. We will be doing a video on how I don't pose models + other awesome content coming very soon :)

Glad you enjoyed the video :) we did an implied shoot with Anna the other day, ruclips.net/video/ib_HCg5aYgg/видео.html

My take always are eyes and shuttle tweaks. Thanks Anna, Because and of course Peter.
Thanks :)
And the demand thing! Really really smart.
love seeing the process of trial and error and experimenting
Thanks
Another great video.
Great tips and advices. Expecting more videos like this from you guys.
Btw nice t shirt. Mr. Coulson.
Thanks Ross I'm Glad you liked it :)
Subtle, but big difference. Great job all!
Thanks heaps :)
me encanta su estilo, siempre estoy pendiente de sus videos para aprender de usted.
Muchas gracias :)

Thank you

@@PeterCoulsonPhotographer Thank you for your reply and explanation, it is truly appreciated!
Amazing pics as always, but that pic in 0:14 is my favorite! ❤️❤️❤️
Mine too thanks

Photographer inventive he will find a way 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
Yes raising light angle nice 😁
Thanks for the class & details. Go Bec✌️
Very nice video great production it’s a dirty job but somebody’s got to do it! Nice one Peter!
Thanks 👍
Great understand of light range.
thank you
@@PeterCoulsonPhotographer So few photographers see the interplay of light textures from slight changes of angles etc.
🤯🤯TOTALLY AMAZING🤯🤯
I like the use of stools on castors to move your bounce where you want it. 🙂

Thanks Peter.
Dear Peter
what do you use for a ball head? I never see this befor. Looks very cool!
Hi Tom, all the gear we use is listed in the description :)

Hi Peter, May I ask what screens your useing ? Thank you in advance
Ezio
Wow that is some thick foam-core if your studio was to unexpectedly flood you might loose your equipment but you wont loose your model!
Great work!
Thanks!
Peter, how do you control the artifacts that seem to develop in the background during some of your manipulations?
The artifacts you see on RUclips are not on the photo
The more I watch you the more I get fussy with light also. But it's true, the little things that most don't notice are the difference between an average shot and a beautiful one.
Thanks I agree :)
when she moved the hair over to one side it's like she exploded with really cool poses.
I would like to know how you make the white comedown and around to look like one piece. There seems to be no join?
ruclips.net/video/Hx8Ek7pdcYw/видео.html
Ana is such a sweetheart. She looks very vulnerable and shy. Even though we know she isn't.lol
Might have 2 have both Models choose and Photographer chooses too then get right ones exact you all want saved 😁💯💯💯💯💯
Thanks
Welcome
is it true when you are having to work harder in edit you have missed the shot?
Yes in most cases
Why not turn on the modelling light briefly to give you an idea of where the reflected light is landing?
So the commercial shoot was for color and you ended up changing it to Black And White. LOL. We all know you love Black and White over color. So I'm thinking that was the biggest change for your own likes. LOL
Great lighting work as always. Love seeing your workflow on designing an image.
And Bec didn't even have wine.
:) thanks so much
Try a mirror to find a right angle for reflectors, or use pilot light
I guess you mean a modeling light?
@@MiaogisTeas yes, same
Man do I hear you about client WANTS! One more thing Anna, she's got the femme fatale in spades. We'll done.
Thanks :)
Yeah 😉
Yeah more too left side 💯💯💯💯💯
How do you find your Models?
instagram
Why do you shoot downward?
With the light?
most light in the world comes from above, I have a new tutorial coming soon
hello to all, Peter i would like to have see you taken that foam and placed it vertical at about 45 or so degrees rather than horizontal and placed a flag at the other side of Ana what do u think
I haven't found it make much of a difference having it vertical :)
@@PeterCoulsonPhotographer k
How far are you from the back drop
The distance doesn't matter because the background isn't lighting the model but she was about 6 meters from it :)
She a Tiger 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
Love the video and info but for a commercial shot it's not that good cause I never ever could see the slippers in your shots !! ;-)
Better!
Me: He can get rid of the poly board with content-aware-fill in Photoshop. Bec: How are you going to remove the poly board? Peter: I'll remove it with content-aware-fill. Me: Yeay!

why not Photoshop?

@@PeterCoulsonPhotographer Okey, but Photoshop is a great program.
So photography is simple... play around with the settings for 30 mins until the model makes "nice eyes", then, click the button.... Ok, got it😂
Yep perfect :)
Nobody likes silver reflectors
please stop using gasw-heatings inside of buildings! Thats very dangerous because of the carbon monoxide!!
these are designed to be used inside a warehouse
