    Just came by to say thank you. Your videos motivated me to solder again. Until today I've only played around. Story:I had gone on a trip for a lab class and we were on the beach looking for animals and marine life. I felt adventurous and jumped from rock to rock. Eventually I lost my balance and fell in a puddle. My bag got wet and so did my graphing calculator. I have a final coming on monday and I was able to get the dumb thing working. I felt like sharing because for once I feel in control. I made this progress and the stuff I learned from your videos helped me. Now I am not handicapped like I would of been if I accepted my calculator was dead. I made myself save $70. It's a start. Thanks again, man. Sorry for the long text.

      +Louis Rossmann I suspect solder or fumes give people cancer. All the people I know that worked in electronic repair died from cancer.

    I love how you're altruism when you say 'you're not going to learn about what I do, but what I should do' :) [or words to that effect]. Cheers dude. ps: I have theatre light flickering and was thinking I could do this myself, but then after all the fluids and micro-level magnifications (read: equipment set up), it's so not worth it!

    so it looks like you basically took off the display related resistors to remove possible corrosion then re-applied them?

    As for me, the problem was in R7741, due to the fact that it’s resistance was not 10K but 10M

    Those LED return resistors - would these be pull up resistors or pull down to 0V resistors? I assume they go to a ground plane.

    I spilled pelligrino lemonata on my Air. It works but screen flickers in vertical bars. Can you fix it for $325+ tax? It also has a broken glass on the touchpad if that is an easy fix. Thanks for your reply, happy to ship it to you. and give you the TRUST. Brian

      broken glass is easy fix if you're willing to pay to replace the trackpad!

    @Louis - Enjoy watching your videos. I've got a mid-2011 Macbook Air which is giving me grief. I'm thinking replacing the I/O Board, but wanted to see if symptoms might indicate something else given your experience. Symptoms are flickering screen AND keyboard backlight with an indication of "Service Battery" which after various SMC and PRAM resets is now thinks battery is 100% but will only run with AC Power. Flickering was apparent with battery physically disconnected on AC power only as well. Interesting twist - symptoms are greatly diminished, but not eliminated, when extending / closing to external monitor. Does this sound like I/O Board is root cause? Appreciate your feedback!
    PS - Letting it run a while I note that with external display connected, periodically when the 13" screen flakes out enough it will drop out and OS switches to external only display. So not just backlight is knocking out, the internal screen itself does. What throws me off is connection to keyboard backlight as well?

      +MobiFix I recorded this in july or something. I do a lot of videos. I find if I upload too many at once, people feel they cannot keep up, so I schedule videos to go public in three to four day increments. Right now I have board repair videos up until March of 2016!

    5:40 second to right column top two pins look like shorted to me or is that intended, or no problem as the pins seem to be connected anyway (3:32)? I just wondered as I'm the kind of person who wants to know everything even if I can't solder...

    • @rossmanngroup

      +gentuxable Read schematic/boardview and you tell me! :)

    • @gentuxable
      @gentuxable 8 лет назад

      Louis Rossmann you're asking a lot, the closest I got to a motherboard "repair" was jumper/DIP setting after reading a nice documentation. The only useful thing I ever soldered was a RJ45 Cable tester with 8 LEDs. Was very useful to me but nothing special, but a thing as coplex as a logic board... So I'll check the schematics / boardview after I fixed the other 999 things I need to take care of as that takes some time to even find the correct spot where the chip was ... :)

      +Ray Hanratty It's not necessarily that they lie. Liquid spills doesn't have to present problems at once, sometime's it takes days, or weeks, and they have forgotten or don't think it could be relevant that they spilled once before.
