In today’s video, Gift and I talk about the possibility of home swapping so that we can do more international travel. What is a home swap? Home exchange, also known as house swapping, is a form of lodging in which two parties agree to offer each other homestays for a set period of time. Since no monetary exchange takes place, it is a form of barter, collaborative consumption, and sharing. Catching up on 8 months of videos! Been very busy this past year. Nice that your son was able to come and see his pops! What happened with Chuck and his lady? Haven't seen them in any videos.
Apartment swap is a very good fit in your situation. I think it's a smart way to save on travel and not lose out on a rental at your place. Cheers to you both. You're good people. ❤ Peter and Mom
Greetings Gift, Joe and David, Tina and Pete are lovely with a great future ahead, home swop could be a great venture, I agree when you talk of the beauty of the colours and scenery ✌🏾🍾
Home Swapping??? Why not? I think it would be a GREAT way to show the world to Gift too. You would be staying more than likely with an informative host who can assist you in creating a better time too since its their back yard. As to David, remind him this although it is a Marine saying I am sure you can adapt it too; "not as lean but still as mean US Marine (or in your case Army). Another great video and topic too.
Hello Joe and Gift, yes nice day, flat and calm, and sunshine, beautiful. A flat or unit swap could be an idea to cut costs. David will return to Germany in the best shape of his life. Great video 10 / 10 Keep Well, Stay Safe my friends.
That's a good idea you have, fix it up and rent it out for a week or one month. I think your town is going to grow much quicker with everyone moving to Thailand. So enjoy your day and take care.
I'm back! I've missed the both of you. I'm here with my incredibly awesome 88; year old Italian mom in Florida. Time to catch up with y'all. Missed seeing my favorite. If your ever in these parts please know you're welcome always here. The Villages, Florida Peter and Domenica
Happy New Year, Gift, Joe and David. I think your idea about apartment swapping is a good one, although it could be a little risky, I suppose, if you get a bad swap. But it is probably a risk worth taking. Thanks for sharing your ideas with us, and thanks for sharing your lies with us. God bless you today and every day throughout 2025 and beyond. 😀❤🙏
That apartment is really going to be nice. A few improvements + it’s going to be a great place to stay. My next trip to PKK maybe I’ll get to stay there + do the coffee walk with you? See you soon. Rick
we had been going to the gym at the stadium and we know it closed, so we went to the small one inside that gate and now that is closed through January 6th!
@8:08 : yes good idea, appartment swap. I would like very much to do it with you but cannot yet because 1) got eye accident last week (so more difficult for me to plan any travel) 2) my appartment too much old and dirty. A good point is I will retire hopefully in June, that's why keep the idea for one day or another ;-)
Hoping you livestream the wedding or at least do a video for your fans to enjoy. I always like visits to the scout camp in the park. Only you, Chuck, and SideTripLife have done that.
Hey Joe, I had a few workouts at the sports arena in PKK last year whilst you and Gift were travelling overseas in September. It's an ok place to train too. 👍
A no-brainer for that rental property you have, but never do it with your beautiful house! Your wonderful day is coming closer! David has gotten smaller in his arms and larger in his belly must be that good Thai food, but tell him no on will notice so no worries 🤣🤣
I think it's awesome you can afford to take care of David and your future wife... Curious does David have a job or is he not working in the US? He blessed to have such a great Dad...HOOAH. Your other friends that wish to live in Hua Hin... Smart I feel if you need medical... We live here in Hua Hin... But about 10 minutes North of Blue port.. We also avoid Downtown as much as possible now due to Tourist.. We use the Medical here and in Bangkok Bumrungrad Hospital is the best! Best wishes on your house swapping.. l love our place here ... Next time you're up this way. Hit me up if you want to chat on your page here... Kenny... Retired Army 25 years HOOAH. Stay blessed and embrace each day 🙏🙏
Hi lovely couple, we have been out of service for a few months missed watching you both, hospital stuff, open heart surgery that went wrong but hey fighting back, so did you joe and gift buy the apartment next door
I would be Evry careful of Renting or Exchange as that .. B&B here in the States are not having a good outcome as when first started . You all Take Care ....
I’d personally try to negotiate with the owner of that property and: 1) ask for a 30 year lease 2) ask for the existing tenants to be removed 3) tear down the houses 4) build my own personal gym + spa + ice bath + whatever else you wanted
Joe, I married a Thai girl, had two children and she was not what she advertised as. I thought I had a Gift but ,as,you know life is unpredictable. Joe, your son is wiser than you realize. Listen to Him!!.
Life is definitely unpredictable having been married to a(non Thai, non Asian) a couple times. Having been with Gift 6 years now, I believe we know each other pretty well and love, respect and understand each other to now become husband and wife. There will be no children for a few reasons. first we don’t want any and secondly after Gift’s hysterectomy, she cannot have children.
Apartment swap would be a loss for the other people unless the cost of living is similar. They would be getting a $20-40 per night place where you get a $200 or more per night deal.
Perhaps you you are confused with difference between home swap and home rentals. People that home Swap typically are not in it for the money. It’s about the location and experience of swapping homes. Also, there can be other incentives such as use of the motorbike, bicycles and use of our swimming pool. What is a housing swap? Home exchange, also known as house swapping, is a form of lodging in which two parties agree to offer each other homestays for a set period of time. Since no monetary exchange takes place, it is a form of barter, collaborative consumption, and sharing.
Definitely not for everyone. In our case we will use our rental that we plan on using for family and friends. Some folks have vacations homes and maybe have considered home swapping. It’s kinda like time sharing but without all of the hidden and extra cost. Either way, we have nothing to lose if we do give this a shot. We already have one interest out of Florida but we won’t plan anything until later in the year or next year.

Hey Joe, I had a few workouts at the sports arena in PKK last year whilst you and Gift were travelling overseas in September.
It's an ok place to train too. 👍
The indoor gym under renovation now. It’s a good gym with annual membership being 1000 baht ($30 USD).
A no-brainer for that rental property you have, but never do it with your beautiful house! Your wonderful day is coming closer! David has gotten smaller in his arms and larger in his belly must be that good Thai food, but tell him no on will notice so no worries 🤣🤣

That all sounds great but, I’m not willing to spend the money that I don’t have to do that. Besides we love our neighbors 😊
5:20 Hi Joe, I'm a little bit confused. What is this rental place? Is it yours and Gift?
We are renting the unit. That is why I say in the video that we will consult the owner.

@ I didn’t know that. Personally, I wouldn’t want strangers in my home to save a few bucks.
