    A lot of dudes are obsessed with the tough guy ego trip of roughing it. I definitely agree with cutting back on unnecessary weight, you probably dont need a tent, you probably dont need a full mess kit, but a little food and a shelter half are just a little extra weight for a shit ton of comfort, and comfort does count. Its not everything but anyone whos been caught out in the rain, without food, or swarmed by bugs, knows the less you can make the things you control suck, the better your mindset and the better you can do your job

    • @jimbeef6633
      @jimbeef6633 2 месяца назад

      You need to rough it so you can know what you’re talking about. Who is using a shelter half in 2024? That counters your argument mate. Gotta actually use the gear.

    For bugs, try essential oils. Up in MN keeps mosquitoes, ticks, horse and deer flies away. Lemongrass works best.

    Little late to the party but oh well. Just some advice, im an EMT in a fairly rural area and have had to deal with my fair share of trauma incidents, i cannot highly recommend enough carrying more gauze than you think you need. Wounds are gonna eat that shit up fast. I have fit feet upon feet upon feet into things like penetrating wounds in the hips/waist area, shoulders, etc. I've never felt like i had too much gauze on hand lol.
    Thanks for the great vid, ive been looking at getting a taps for myself lately, keep up the cool work and stay healthy

    Highly recommend the Nalgene canteens. They're clear and they don't taste like plastic. Fits just perfectly into the canteen cup, and it's just worth it. $10 each, grab two of em, they're perfect replacements to the standard issue canteens that have seen better days.

      I just purchased my first TAP. Forgive my ignorance but is it supposed to have some wiggle to it? It seems kind of loose despite most of the tabs cinched up as much as they will go.
      I realize I am opening myself to a ton of trolling “this guys a shrimp, hit the gym, etc etc” but I really want this to fit snug.
      Am I doing something wrong or are these made for larger guys?

    I didn't have a problem with the front straps on the standard harness, but the Y style strap was not that comfortable and would get twisted. I switched to an H harness from krydex in ocp/ scorpion for $24.95 they also have it in Coyote for $21.95. It has similar front straps, but the H harness back is a lot less irritating. Wears pretty well under any of my rucksacks I've tried it with. It is a Chinese copy of spiritus systems tap upgrade kit, I'm a poor boy on social security.

    Hi, great vid! Some suggestions: I would use a Millbank bag for water filtration. They are much better than a cotton bandana. I would also add some light, either a headlamp or a torch. A blade should also be part of your equipment. How bout starting a training camp in Germany? It would be much easier for me to attend a class there than in the US. Greetings from Switzerland.

    I understand when you need a chest rig vs. when you need a plate carrier. I get that you can get a chest rigs that attach to/or can be worn over your plate carrier. I also see where it is advantageous to have your plate carrier and chest rig set up similarly in order to build muscle memory. But, I have never heard anyone say you can take the plates out of your plate carrier and simply wear it as a chest rig. Is this a bad idea? If so, please explain why. Great info. Please keep it up.
