  • Understanding Mutual Funds, Index Funds and ETFs helps in choosing the right fund for our investment portfolio. In this episode, choosing a good mutual fund is explained in detail in Tamil with examples.
    Following questions are answered:
    1. What are Mutual Funds?
    2. How do we check the amount of fees charged in a mutual fund and how does that impact our final return amount?
    3. What is Expense Ratio and why is it significant in choosing a mutual fund?
    4. What are large caps, mid caps and small caps? What is the risk and return potential of each?
    5. What are Growth vs Value stocks?
    6. How do we decide whether to buy a mutual fund or an Index fund?
    7. What is a stock market Index? What are all some of the popular Indices in India and USA?
    8. What is an ETF and why choose an ETF over a Index based mutual fund?

    Hi Sir,
    Investing directly in corporate debenture bonds or equity shares are limited to availability.
    But while investing in mutual funds we are not able to see those restrictions.
    If cumulative AUM of all the mutual funds invested are too far beyond the true or intrinsic value of corporates' (or) far beyond the capital needs of corporates, will there be an artificial rise in NAV due to the demand created by huge cumulative AUM, competing by different MF houses to buy the same securities.
    Is there any check in SEBI to avoid this?
    Is there any online tools to measure the total capital demand of specific corporate and cumulative investment made by MF houses on that specific corporate.
    Please reply.

    may I know your reasoning for buying Index Fund (instead of ETF) if investing a big amount? also, other than the trading time window what are the main differences? looks like ETF has some tax advantage over Index Fund. is that true? in that case, isn't it always better to buy ETF then?

    • @InvestmentInsightsTamil
      @InvestmentInsightsTamil  3 года назад +2

      The difference is very minimal. Go with your own preference. In bigger scheme of things, this is not a big deal.

    Dear Vijay, I am consider you are my one the best guru. Your all vedio are to the point and best in the class. Much appreciated for your effort 👏👏👏👏
    I have a question If I am planning inverse in the mutual fund which is better monthly or quarterly ? Here I am planning to inverse 3x in quarterly instead of investing X in monthly to avoid some of the stamp duties etc. Do you think this is good idea. In fact I was trying to simulate this pattern with last 5 years with some of the good mutual funds but it give me mixed results based on funds so I am not able to take a call I would like your guidance here

    • @InvestmentInsightsTamil
      @InvestmentInsightsTamil  3 года назад +1

      What matters is that we are consistently investing regardless of monthly or quarterly. Do not worry about which is better. If you want to invest every quarter, just do it.

      To start with an Index fund, open an account directly with the fund house itself like in UTI. Other option is to open account with brokerages like groww, Kuvera that provides "direct" mutual funds. You should be able to buy all "direct" funds from them.
